ORIGINAL: HexFeldragonne Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not shocked that they do it (though certainly shocked by the amount of it), I'm just trying to get my head around WHY they do it. Say, for example, I see a really hot sub guy, but for whatever reason, he doesn't date white women, or women with tattoos, or women who smoke. I wouldn't try my luck no matter how incredibly delicious he was because rejection is balls and I can't see the point of approaching someone who's already made a point of saying that he's not interested in (X trait that describes me). Theoretically, most everything everyone does is for some kind of personal benefit or gain, we are inherently selfish creatures after all. What is to be gained from messaging someone who is already guaranteed to reject you? To be honest I think I'll just delete my profile because this is stressful and really fucking annoying, so I'd better off sticking to Fetlife. Thanks for the input. Once you fall off the New Users list, the deluge will subside. When I was actively looking on CM, I never wrote a woman in the first couple weeks her profile was up, because I didn't want to be lost in the crowd. If she had the stomach to stick around, I'd make a move once her inbox was no longer a disaster. Lots of guys send out emails to everyone. It's safe than approaching a woman in a bar. And, hey, if you don't ask, you don't get. Also, it just isn't true that a requirement is a requirement just because it's written on a profile. People make exceptions for exceptional people all the time. I bet if a guy was perfect for you in every possible way, except he had short hair, you might say, "Well, I can always have him grow it out. I'll meet him for coffee, why not."
