yourMissTress -> Being who you are, or are you more than one? (7/12/2006 1:29:29 PM)

Regardless of orientation, most of us aren't always the same in every situation and with every person.  One example being a submissive who is very dominant in the workplace, in his family, and most all aspects of his social life, but when he's with his Mistress he's completely submissive.  There seems to be someone or some group of people in life that we are not necessarily the same with as we are with everyone else.

For Me, it's My Grandmother.  As soon as I hear her voice I'm 4 years old again.

Who is it for you?  What trips your trigger sending your normal self to the opposite end of the spectrum?

My sister. Somehow she always manages to make me feel less than what I am. Don't figure.

I think I am mostly the same person with everyone, although I am relating to each individual that I come into contact with in a slightly different way based upon who they are and how close I am to them. There are different sides of me that I show to others that do not get seen by the world at large (no one else sees me the way my Dom does for a fact), but I am basically the same person to everyone. I might have quiet moods, or joking moods or whatever, but that is not dependent on other people.

I have had girlfriends that could not have more than one friend around at a time because they were "different people" within different friendships, so if they were around more than one person at a time they tended to act strangely, and I would wonder why that was. If you are the same person no matter what it shouldn't matter who is the room?

I guess for me it is my family.   I am the only child and grandchild. Now I am the caregiver to both of them.  I feel it is my duty to take care of them since my mother is 74 and my grandmother is 93.  Also, another thing that plays an important part for me is my faith.   I hear Pastor Keith, and I automatically go back to where I am supposed to be.  I have finally learned how to balance my faith and the life.  In the beginning, it was a nightmare.

Respectfully,
Mistress_Jan

The boyfriend. Thank goodness for a little break from reality in life. Let me just lay it all down once in a while. Im really happy to not be in charge on those occasions when someone else would like to take over.

sophia37 -> RE: Being who you are, or are you more than one? (7/12/2006 2:59:29 PM)

I'm going to rewrite this. The question asked is, "Are u more than one?" So the answer is yes. I am more than one in life. I am this for one person and that for another person/situation. Mostly we all are.

yourMissTress -> RE: Being who you are, or are you more than one? (7/12/2006 3:00:36 PM)

Oh hell, I forgot about the cats...we have one that sits on the mantle, or wherever is the highest point of any room, and simply surveys all about her.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Being who you are, or are you more than one? (7/12/2006 3:06:03 PM)

I think we all behave in different ways around every different person we know.  We act one way around grandparents, another around friends, another when it's just you and your SO in the bedroom, another when you're at a PTA meeting, another when you're at a party.  It may not be a drastic personality change, but there are little things and behaviors we tweak a bit when we're around others.  To some extent we become their expectation of us.

Who do I change most drastically around?  A certain set of my "friends".  They bring out the worst in me, which is why I only see them once or twice a year.  Also, I do revert to feeling four years old around my Granny and my Dad.  It's not a bad thing, they're just very loving and overprotective.

The only person I'm ever 100% myself around is my husband.  He's the only one that has ever seen me as my complete self, with no mannerisms or attitudes added.

Sometimes just the thought of being told what to do or just the imagination of mine working, thinking, "I'm not in control at this moment..." trips my trigger.[:D]

My father...any time I talk to him...rarely...I feel like I am about 11..and the dumb, worthless little girl that he and my stepmom always thought I was....

I thought about this question for awhile...and the only thing I can say is,,,I'm the same with everyone.

Flame73 -> RE: Being who you are, or are you more than one? (7/12/2006 4:26:39 PM)

Well I'm primarily an in control, dominance personified, bossy sort of bitch. If things are not being done to My liking, I take over and give orders.
But My stepdad calls and says, "why did you......" and suddenly I'm 13 again in the study barefooted staring at the floor struggling explain why My bomber jacket smells like cigarette smoke.
Then there's Cross, one stern look and I'm all little-girl big-eyed and stammering.
Strangely enough these are the only two Men on the planet that can ellicit that response, and believe Me, I've looked.

I get so angry when this happens.. When I go back east for a visit with the  family.. I immediately become the "daughter" again. I obey my parents, watch my language, let them know when I'll be back in.. and let that dictate my time, I clean my plate  gad.. I had a very restricted childhood!

I am pretty much the same around everyone except my dogs. With them, I talk baby talk and make a general fool of myself, usually.

With me, it's my brother. When I am around him, I struggle to hang onto the self that I am but it is difficult. There are many factors involved but one thing that might make it at least a bit more clear is this...I am the older brother. You wouldn't know it were you to listen to us during certain discussions.

Slipstreme -> RE: Being who you are, or are you more than one? (7/12/2006 5:50:19 PM)

My mother. It is so hard to tell her things, so I tend to defer to her wishes. It usually takes me reaching my breaking point, when I can tell her exactly what is on my mind and how I feel about it. In those rare momments I can honestly say, I don't care what she thinks or feels about a situation, until long after I confront her. Usually though I side with her, even if that is the last thing I want to do.

Arpig -> RE: Being who you are, or are you more than one? (7/12/2006 6:12:17 PM)

I am me. I don't change to suit the milieu...hmmmm maybe that's why my Mom doesn't talk to me and I am unemployed again eh?[;)]
