I have been in relationships where this was possible, and I have accepted being loaned out as a slave. Sometimes you really don't fancy the person in question (especially if it's a Dominant woman) but that's what you signed up for.

How does it feel? It feels pretty awesome. Not having any choice is one of the simplest, easiest, most content phases of life I've ever been through. It just nixes all the mental dilemmas you have in life, and the feeling of powerlessness is profound and wonderful.

As regards what mas a true slave - none of us are two slaves. Not even someone who agrees to be sold. We are BDSM slaves, we have a choice, whether we like to acknowledge it or not, and we choose to submit. Choosing not to say no is not the same as not being able to say no if you wanted to.

The way I see it, slaves have the choice to leave and choose not to take it. In the example your friend gave, she had the option to tell this man "fuck off" and leave him, but decided to stay true to her view of a slave and go with him.

This isn't inherently wrong. She may be happier in the end. But to say she is a slave with no choice? Bullshit.
The same goes for your selling/loaning out scenario. Assuming the slave knows what she signed up for and Master finds someone knew for her, she has the option to go with it or walk away. The Master can scream all he wants about slave contracts and true submission should he find fault in her, but ultimately (barring criminal acts) nobody is forcing the slave to go except the slave. Those contracts won't hold up in a court.

That said, I'm not of a mindset to accept long term TPE and go for bedroom-only power exchange. I don't understand the lifestyle of a submissive or slave, because it's not in my nature. (I'll add that not understanding a dynamic and not approving of it are two entirely different things, and I say this with no judgment.) My understanding is that it can be liberating to give yourself to someone who looks out for your best interests, but I could personally never do that. So I'll never be in this situation.
