ORIGINAL: kdsub ...It is a terrible tragedy that should not happen again... <snip> How many times have we all heard this over the last few years; yet it keeps happening all over the US with regular monotony??? I don't care of Bama keeps trotting out the same old lame excuse that gun crime is coming down. It is still happening at a sickening rate compared to other OECD countries. It is an utter disgrace for a first-world nation. There needs to be a fundamental change in the US attitude towards guns and their use/ownership. And I'll ask the same age-old question: how many more does it take before change happens?? [8|] Don't lecture us on our weapons laws till you start obeying yours. And how any times have we had this ridiculous argument Bama?? We generally do obey our laws - that's why we, and all the other OECD countries, don't have as many gun deaths and shootings per capita than you do in the US. And kdsub may be right in what he says about cop shootings being justified, on the whole, because they are doing their job. We have police and some are armed but the vast majority are not. They still face armed criminals without guns and we still don't get as many deaths in the same situations as you do in the US. It's the whole 'guns first' mentality that puts both citizens and officers at risk.
