MariaB -> The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/26/2014 11:51:01 AM)

Due to couple of requests, I'm starting a topic on electro stimulation in the context of BDSM.

Many of us who have had babies or suffer from muscular problems are familiar with a Tens machine. Electro stimulation is a specialized tens machine and manufactured for play, though I often use mine for muscle fatigue too!. Tens units are designed to reduce pain and sensation and will always be inferior to made for play electro stim units.

I'm a big, big fan of Estim units. I love them so much I have just opened an Estim store but I do hear of people expressing concerns about electrics and the risks of shocks. All units come with a health and safety document and as you would expect, its very serious about any risks and has plenty of warnings but doesn't actually talk about peoples fears and how they might overcome them. Anyone who has suffered an electric shock certainly doesn't want to get another one. In fact for that reason alone, I refused electro play for years.

I do electro play workshops and one thing that is clear to me is, people are not only cautious but they aren't sure what to do with them. One of the reasons for starting this thread is to try and answer questions about tackling fears and exploring what you can do with this wonderful little device. I would also like to invite people to add their experiences and hopefully give me some new ideas [;)]

This is the original thread

Excellent. Again, for me the Tens unit is kinda married to me for the rest of my life, I do use it sparingly. I try to naturally acclimate to pain as the seasons change... just push through it, cuz I know it is going to get really bad in the winter. So I hold off until I spend more time trying to get out of bed than any reasonable person should.

I detest altered states, so I avoid narcs, booze, and so on the best I can. I mean, really, can you people imagine me on dope?

That said, my perception of my Tens unit has always been a life preserver and I've not ever considered the application in play. So... I am sure you all understand that it is really hard for me to "see" it in play, although I am quite intrigued now, I just have no basis of comparison, particularly the enjoyment aspect for the bottom.

DeviantlyD -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/26/2014 1:25:43 PM)

I've not really had any experience with electric play, in part due to the reasons the OP cited. My one time experience was with the violet wand, but the guy using it on me used almost the lowest setting since I was a noob.

I'm curious though...because I'm wondering what those who are into electric play get out of it. The one experience I had left me with tinglies everywhere he touched me using the violet wand. The bottoms of my feet, (which are REALLY ticklish), were not exactly a fave place but I could see the appeal for some degree of tingly stuff on some body parts, since I'm big on sensation but...could you short circuit a place where a uhm...non-mechanically-induced electrical sensation happens naturally?

Edited for typo...dang phone!

Hi ET

I understand that. Its a bit like someone having to use needles every day of their life and how they can't comprehend using them as a play item. However, you are intrigued, so what we have to do is see if you could explore it in its other context.

Every toy has a different electrode and different uses so the sensations achieved are unique to that each toy. It can be a very sensual and erotic device; it can also inflict sensations that will have your girl begging for mercy.

Its definitely not a simple toy. What you can do with it can be very complex.

Personally I would never put anything directly onto the visible part of the clit because I believe the clit can be desensitized. I do however, know people who do and I've never heard of problems, like I have with the overuse of vibrators. Unlike a violet wand it doesn't burn the skin and so when you do place it directly onto the clit, you will only get a sensation and you definitely won't get any damage to the skin. The clit (sorry but its just a good example to talk about) is a lot larger than what we once thought and so electrodes or probes carefully placed can stimulate the clit in its entirety. That I have to say, isn't something you could do with any other device and oh boy, is that an amazing feeling.

ExiledTyrant -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/26/2014 2:53:07 PM)

Hmm... I'm kind of getting a visual, a pic would help, an anat-sketch, but if it works like a Tens, then you'd put (+) say at the cleft of venus and (-) higher on the mons?

shiftyw -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/26/2014 3:25:02 PM)

I put mine sorta "above" my clit. I've never cum from it though :(
I might be doing something wrong, I'd really like insertables but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what's compatible with my unit.
I love it for my back problems, and plantar problems.

RockaRolla -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/26/2014 3:27:03 PM)

Electro-noob here, but it sounds like a side by side placement with the clit or other sensitive organs in between would work.

shiftyw -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/26/2014 4:05:19 PM)

D- the second a tens was used on me for physical therapy I wanted to just zap my fun bits immediately. It's like to me not a stingy pain. It is the kind of pleasure/pain line I love walking. I like having him control it. Even if I don't cum, electro really revs my engine. I wish it could REALLY be safely used on my nipples, but it's apparently a bad idea.

I haven't gotten to use a violet wand. I think I'd be into it though.

I use mine for muscle fatigue as well as a toy. I have problems with my neck and my E-stim works like magic fingers.

Everyone is different and people will respond differently to electro stimuli. Its a case of being adventurous and experimenting. I find the small butt plugs and hand held electro stimulators around the labia make me have very powerful orgasms and during sex, the butt plug and an electro pad placed to the side of the labia (around 2 o'clock) always works for me. I have also brought women to orgasm with electro clips placed on the outer labia along with an electro wand but I have never used the clips on myself.

I always use pulsating mode to achieve orgasm.

You've got it, though like I said, everyone is different.

A lot of women make the mistake of using stim pads at either side of the outer labia whilst having sex with a man. Whilst this will make the vagina contract and give the man some amazing pleasure during sex, it probably won’t do a lot for the woman. (Its worth pointing out that electro pads placed this way are an amazing kegel exercise for women.)

Although I would always advise against people with pacemakers, medical infusion devices and heart conditions against using E-stim in certain areas, as long as long as both the positive and negative connection are on the same nipple its not a problem. we do a bi-polar eclip which can be used on the nipples.

MariaB -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/27/2014 4:34:20 AM)

A lot of dominants wouldn't use this device on themselves because they would deem it too submissive. Its such a shame because this device only needs to be about pain if its set in such a way as to cause pain. I've always felt sorry for men. Women have just about every toy known to man that will induce spectacular orgasms. Men get vibrating butt plugs which work for some and not for others. They really do miss out. Electro-stim pads used in the right places during sex, will give men stimulation like they have never had as well as, what most men report as, spectacular orgasms and often more than one.

What is interesting about an electro orgasm is, there is often no build up, witch at first seems almost alien. The orgasms often come out of nowhere and give you a “wtf?” moment. When I saw this happening to others (before I had, had an orgasm with the device) I had to wonder if the orgasm was as good as a normal one because I personally love the build up. Time and time again they reported back that it was much more intense than a normal orgasm. I now understand what they mean.

Another interesting observation is, when my man orgasms he is usually quite sleepy afterwards but when he orgasms with E-stim he feels wide awake and raring to go. For this reason we don't tend to use E-stim on him at bed time.

Greta75 -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/27/2014 4:45:50 AM)

For me, I am disappointed with my e-stim, I can't orgase with it. On the clit, it feels like, just pressure on it. Inside my vagina is worst, it feels like nothing even on highest settings. But it does sting on the hand.

Hmm, I have never tried that. Really, that would intensify the man's pleasure while penetrating? I gotta try that then!

Yea, I need advice on where to place the pad where I can actually get an orgasm! Like, I also have an egg attachment for insertion, and a clit stimulating attachment. Both does nothing for me.
I try the pad directly on my clit and nothing too.

Still cannot beat fairy wand attachments, who always gets me most high on orgasms.

Placement of the pads is a very personal thing Greta and so I can only make suggestions but that doesn't mean they will work for you. For me it has to be an anal insertion along with another circuit stimulating my upper labia. At least that is what I tend to do when I'm having sex. When I'm on my own I still tend to double up and have 2 circuits going on at the same time. I love the Zeus masturbation wand within that combination.

Greta75 -> RE: The delights and fears of electro stimulation (11/27/2014 6:25:39 AM)

Okay, so you need some anal stimulation to get there. For me, anal is a hard limit, so I guess I will never experience that.

I went to the The Geeky Kink Event earlier this month and since I'm a total noob with a LOT (but not all!) of this stuff, it was an amazing eye-opener and total sensory overload. But one of the merchants sold all kinds of electrical stim play stuff so it was the first time I got to feel a violet wand. He used a really cool attachment that looked like a mylar flogger....and even though he just touched my arm with it....OH WOW!!!. I am really eager to explore it further..someday....

But I still have trouble wrapping my brain around using a TENS unit in play. I've never used one....but I still have trouble seeing them as anything but medical devices....strange.

Electro stimulation is a hugely personal thing. What works for one may not work for another. Some females may have wonderful orgasms from electro play, others won't. Some people love electro play, others hate it and some people, in fact a lot of people are nervous about experimenting with it. There is so much you can do with this toy but there is little you can do with it if electro play isn't your thing.
