And yet in another thread you praise doing exactly that because the US in so undemocratic.

No I didn't praise doing exactly that.

Are you a liar, or stupid?

post 32 of 2nd amendment thread

So, without some massive constitutional crisis (which is bound to happen sometime in the next 50-100 years), "chipping away" is the only way to take laws that were passed 200 years ago and make them fit for the 21st C. It's a shame, and every day I wake up and thank goodness that I live in a functioning democracy that allows its citizens to change laws.

But that just it ,it does mean something different today than it did in the 1790's.
It has to,we have changed, the world has changed a thousand times in a thousand different ways.
How can you take a strict constructionist view when we ,as a society, have evolved(or devolved in some cases)so very much.

If you want it to say something totally different have the guts to actually change it, not hide behind pretending it means something different today.
If it means whatever you want it to, then it means nothing.
Sounds great to you when we make the changes you want but later someone else will decide they want it to mean something you find hateful and you will have no defense.

Standing by and saying there is nothing we can do is the cowards way
Admitting it needs to be readdressed is a position of courage not weakness.
I have the courage to say enough with the carnage, you are the coward who suggests that all the blood is just the price we pay for your "liberties"

Totally wrong. I have suggested several things that can be done. Saying don't throw the baby out with the wash is not saying nothing can be done.
Your continual parroting of the mantra that pro 2nd people don't care about the deaths is a grossly insulting lie which did not originate with you, in fact I suspect you actually believe it.
Repeating it doesn't make it true

I will read it but Bloomberg is an anti gun asshole who's reports often contain lies.

To Paraphrase Goldblum in Jurassic Park don't get so wrapped it what can be done that you forget should it be done.
Bloomberg would be happy to settle for Australian laws. And he would change gun ownership from a right to a privilege.

Bloomberg has such a devout believer in individual freedom that he thinks it is governments place to tell you what size soda you can buy (I know he didn't say you couldn't buy it just that they couldn't sell it to you, same thing)

What do you expect when all you do is rant about how evil gun ownership and insult gun owners?
And yes saying we don't care about death as long as we can stroke and fondle our firearms is insulting.

slvemike4u -> RE: What parts of the Constitution should we chip away at? (12/30/2014 6:12:40 PM)

It works fine for me
The name of the book is:Reducing Gun Violence in America ,informing policy with evidence and analysis
Edited by Danial W.Webster and Jon.S.Vernick
You could look it up,and Bloomberg wrote the forward,he doesn't cook the books or skew the statistics and evidence

It's also, unfortunately too true,in far too many cases.
If you feel insulted....you should.

Because it is a lie, I know no gun owners who fit that description.
And no gun owner I know would associate with them.
You paint all gun owners with that brush, then expect them to pay attention to what you say.

slvemike4u -> RE: What parts of the Constitution should we chip away at? (12/30/2014 6:53:40 PM)

I know, all the gun owners you know are responsible and treat their weapons with respect and safety is paramount.[8|]
Have you stopped over at MM's thread yet?
Wasn't Nancy Lanza a "responsible " gun owner prior to her son's attack ?

I have but I have him on hide, he makes you look downright gentlemanly.
So does this mean you want a background check and psyhc eval for everyone some one knows, or at least their relatives before they can get a firearm?
Actually she kept her guns in a safe demonstrating, if anything, that precautions can be circumvented.
You act like she left them out where he could get to them, another falsehood you have accepted as truth

What I ,and anyone else with a lick of sense ,knows is that they weren't secure enough.
Not when you consider what ensued.I also know she introduced her troubled son to these weapons and even intended to make a gift of one to him.

He should have been institutionalized, that is the only thing that would have been secure enough, or are you now advocating the British practice of making people keep "their" firearms at a club?
Are you familiar with the saying that bad cases make bad law?
Basing law on that case fits perfectly.

Ah... stupid it is then.

Get an adult to explain to you how when someone describes something as a "shame" they're not actually praising it.

So now, we know that you don't understand what "Law" means and you can't parse a simple sentence.

You're pretty useless, aren't you.

Are all the car owners you know responsible people?

Doesn't matter, if one gun owner is irresponsible all are guilty.
