I use the hide feature now and then to make it easier to read contentious threads I am interested in. For instance there is a thread active now where a poster vomited hate because he was losing an argument. I put that poster on hide just so he did not take up space on my screen and I could read posts from those I respect. I will not leave them on hide, even though they never have anything constructive to post, because I do believe in free speech and like it or not they do represent a portion of our culture. So the bottom line with me is the hide feature does come in handy now and then but I never permanently hide anyone. Butch

Ugh.. the only thing that changes for me everytime I unhide my profile is that the volume is less... now I get about around 10 messages a day if people can view my profile...

I think there are several reasons 1. the pics definitely got me tons of looks 2. guys will message anyone on that side looking 3. For some reason, guys really loved my profile, so I got a lot of comments on that..

I don't have anyone on hide because then it can be too easy to lose track of the conversation. There are a few people I may just jump over.....or topics I may totally ignore....but if I hide all of there posts, then sometimes something another person say won't make any sense, especially if they don't quote it.

However past experience has been that looking or not looking were irrelevant I got messages whether I was or not.

I've got two or three on hide. One is a prolific poster whose posts have no value IMO. The others have been some whose posts pissed me off - one was rabidly bigoted, and another held very strong and inflexible political views. I have a few on Block on the other side. One was a local woman whose profile was long and obnoxious, and I don't remember why I Blocked the others.

My user name has curtailed a lot of the stupid crap I used to get... now the only stupid crap I get is from the completely brain dead. Your user name has a "No BS" feel about it, so that may be a part of it. You should make a profile under "FlyingUnicornPrincess4Daddy" and see what happens.

I don't have anyone on hide here. I clicked it once by accident and another time to a avoid a habitually negative poster, but my curiosity always gets the best of me and very quickly un-hid them. I still read their posts now. Okay, I scan over them and don't pay much attention. I prefer to have the option to scan by them if I so choose to.

I'm like kdsub, especially if I'm trying to read through 8-10 pages in P&R. Ignore is usually very temporary so I can read a debate without the tit for tat hatred included. Saying that, if someone gets personally spiteful, I will block them for a week or two; never longer than that though.

I dont have anyone on hide, altho there are two posters in P&R who go on hide with their messiah complex and their conspiracy theory posts Ive been put on hide by more than a couple, which only amuses me with their "excuses" One specifically who didnt like the way I reacted to female posters in P&R being labelled feminazis and cunts, so now, with his now"hidden misogyny" has had me on hide and continues to think Im the nastiest person in the world. pffft, its only so he can ignore when I call him on his blatant BS The other one is the same but without the misogyny.
