Personally, I think that using the "hide" feature (though I've been tempted to hide a few idiots, I've elected not to) means that I lack the self control/discipline to simply choose to gloss over or take no action against rampant idiotic posts.

The hide button is essential for BM threads if nothing else, otherwise there's just too many posts to scroll through in order to read what everyone else has to say.

Bowel Movement threads?

I have a couple of prolific trolls on hide because it saves time reading through threads not having to skim over irrelevant trash.

I also have a couple of sincere forum members on hide because they are experts in their field. Their with points of view are overly PC to hold an value for me and seem to be based in online experiences and romance novels. Most everything they say is in conflict with BDSM in the real world as I know it. So there is nothing they say I care read and it saves me time reading through threads.

The only connection I have found which was when I joined this side, is that by joining this side it automatically put your profile on the other side..

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought each side's profile was separately maintained, as you mentioned about Blocking on the profile side doesn't automatically Hide on the forum side, and vice versa.

It makes sense, because those who Hide their CS profile can still post; those who Hide their Collarchat profile (activity) data don't have their CS profile automatically Hidden. Otherwise, a former user with a deactivated (formerly CM) CS account would have all his/her forum posts vanish.

OP, I've been tempted to Hide a forum poster before (along the lines of freedomdwarf1's exception), but everyone's entitled to his or her opinion and PoV no matter how inane. There will always be trolls, those who are self-serving, and those who are just on the Message Boards to self-promote and/or who contradict themselves at every turn or from one day to the next.

So no, as a D/ I have never put anybody on Hide, and I don't foresee ever doing so. What's noteworthy is that some of the same posters who insist that everyone else kowtow to their views are the most intolerant of an opposing viewpoint. There's plenty of room with D/s and BDSM for each of us to practice them ethically and consensually within whatever spectrum we choose. If we're not here to learn about each other and learn from one another in a civilized manner, as in thinking outside the box, then we might as well hang it up.

I tend to drift to those who post well and to skim over others who don't. I've only used the hide button to: make Avatars I hate disappear or to hide someone I've found particularly obnoxious. At present I've got no one hidden.

A few of the posters in the Politics section have me blocked out entirely. It's really funny.

The only person I ever put on hide was one who used to vomit forth HUGE posts in a pepto-pink font that were excruciatingly painful to read. Hiding posts because someone says things you don't agree with is intellectually bankrupt.

Sissymaidlola? Wow. She abandoned here long ago.

Logically I understand the reason behind the hide button, personally I have a few opinions of it and I am curious how that reflects on the D vs /s choice to "hide" a user.

Personally, I think that using the "hide" feature (though I've been tempted to hide a few idiots, I've elected not to) means that I lack the self control/discipline to simply choose to gloss over or take no action against rampant idiotic posts. Yep, I choose not to engage someone rather than giving them the satisfaction that they've gotten under my skin so deep I had to hide them.

So, let's see where you are with the "hide" button and from which side of the kneel you are on.

D/= Dominant, or dominate... potato, potato...tomato... yada yada
S/= Switch
/s= submissive

There's a hide button?
