cumbait -> RE: 12 dead in Paris (1/8/2015 7:02:05 AM)

Left, right....who the hell cares? My thought is that the terms "left" and the "right" as some apply them, are intended roughly as euphemisms for the word "cheerleader" anyway....the thing is that innocent people are DEAD....because by all appearances, someone took "exception" to a cartoon poking fun at Islam. Matters not that it is the vaunted "religion of peace" at the helm, or if it is as one poster seems to believe - "rightists" trying to set up the Jihadists as victims of some sort of scam. Whether it be people bombing abortion clinics because they disagree on religious grounds with the concept of abortion, or people leveling buildings with jet planes because they want to send the "infidels" to hell - the REAL outrage ought to stem from the concept that "religion" has such a power over ANY group of people and that it can and will inspire people to kill and injure other human beings who do not follow what THEY believe is right.

Perhaps the real instigator here is not a rightist or leftist....but the worship of a deity?. Matters not if the said "deity" is named Jehovah, or Jesus, or Allah, or Charles Manson, or Money....killing for that deity is pretty final....dead is dead. ..."do it in the name of heaven, and you can justify it in the end..."

I have become increasingly wary of anyone with a strong religious bent to them, Christian, Islamic, Jewish, matters not. Realism says you cannot limit people's choice of how/what to worship - but if you are going to stand for religious liberty, this is the kind of stuff you will get - history proves that repeatedly. Allow and encourage people to take guidance from long-dead prophets, via books written centuries ago with the attending lack of relevance to a modern world, led by a deity no one can directly speak to or question - and this is what will happen. The name we attach to the religion, or to the people, or to their "left or right" leanings - mean nothing.

People are dead.

....because of a fucking cartoon??????

Where are the armies of Muslims taking on ISIS and other such "extremists"

In Syria and Iraq. There are no Western armies with boots on the ground fighting IS in either Syria or Iraq. All the forces fighting IS in Syria and Iraq are Muslim forces.

That you can ask such a dumb question tells us how little you know about the realities involved

Ironic you post this Sanity given that lumping all Muslims in with the extremists is exactly what right wingers like you do.

Nice deflection, I expected nothing less from you Sanity. Faux News has taught you well.

Without the USA and other outside forces committed to slowing ISIS the only "resistance" would be those who are being buried alive etc

Oh. I didn't realize you had become a deranged leftist freak now.

You should change the description over your avatar then.

It's an unusual position, though, for a deranged leftist freak, to justify fundamentalist religious violence by noting historical incidences of communist violence. It sound a lot more like something a simplistic rightist would say.

But I'm glad there's no problem.

the commonality is the oppression of freedom and the use of state power...

That might just shut em up[8D]

Nice Coven reference but that's not in any religious tome of which I'm aware.

Truly pathetic.

You know (or you should know if you are going to pontificate about topics like this) that all the people doing the fighting against IS are Muslims. Some Western countries offer logistical, aerial and training support to those doing the fighting against IS but are careful not to get involved in the actual fighting. Your attempts to suggest otherwise tells us that you either don't know what you are talking about or are deliberately distorting the facts to suit your ideologically driven position.

It isn't it's just a song lyric. It's from the song One Tin Soldier - God I feel ancient smfh.

Yes. "One Tin Soldier" by Coven . That's kind of what I said. It was the "theme song" to "The Legend of Billy Jack"

Redone by Coven but as you say the original is far older.

What is truly pathetic... Aside from your over reliance on these weak-minded personal attacks to try to win an argument... Is the effort shown by these rumored "moderate Muslims" to stamp out the so-called "extremists" world wide

I understand that individually, many Muslims are beautiful people

However, the ideology is rancid and has always begat violence and sorrow wherever it has spread

As pointed out by someone else this should not be left against right.
