Tell you what freedom...you show me a state where it days that a car owner must show a valid physical examination each year to keep their license to drive.

I have to have an eye test every year to keep my license.
My car also has to be tested every single year or it's illegal and I get prosecuted.
I am also obligated by law to notify the authorities of any condition that may give rise to my license being forfeit.

Your car has to be tested for what? Here in the U.S., it varies from state to state but most states require an emissions test, depending where you're at. That's it. I'd be okay with taking any gun I use more than 200 days a year in to have the state test it and see that it fires safely.

Here in the U.S., you are also required to report these conditions. However, you are not required...as you suggested...to undergo any physical exam each year to keep your license.

Must be nice to have such faith in government, what was wrong was in two cases the government lied, and just got the registration so they would be able to collect them.
In the other the mayor, who didn't care enough about his citizens to use school buses to evacuate them used looting as an excuse to grab guns of the people most likely to be victims.

But I repeat... if the people were legally allowed to have those guns - they would still have them wouldn't they?

Much as I hate our government and every politician lies (it's part of the territory), it would seem that at least ours don't deliberately obfuscate and act illegally to confiscate guns legally owned.

All I can say is, there must be more to those stories than was reported.
As you keep reminding everyone, the 2nd allows Americans the right to own and bear arms.
If they were legally owned, they'd still have them or there would have been a class action lawsuit filed PDQ.

No, there was no legal justification for taking them.
And my dear know nothing friend, they are in court, problem is there are too many cases against Nagel , the moron mayor of NO and the real cause of things getting screwed up in Katrina.
All you are saying is they took them because they had a good reason and they had a good reason because they took them.

I'm getting pretty weary of blanket sweeping statements from all sides of this "debate."

A little accuracy would be welcome.
It sure would. So in FD's own words:

"After that, test each and every gun owner with a health check to see if they still qualify to own a gun.
Legit and law abiding car/truck owners do it every year with their vehicles don't they?
Why not with guns? Makes sense to me."

That is what I responded to. Especially HIS words "health check".
All I asked for was for him to show me ANY state that requires a health exam EVERY year to get their license renewed.

Clue: There isn't ONE. 2nd clue. An eye exam is a component of a health exam, NOT an exam in itself.

Maybe beat this some more.

Make sure it's more deader.

We have to over here.
I have to have a complete eye exam every year to keep my license.

And our cars have a very much more stringent check than they do in the US.
Tyres slightly balding or below the wear tread bars?? Fail. Get caught with them - 3 points on your license and £100 fine for each offense.
Ball joints slightly worn and not like new? Fail.
Rubber covers not in pristine condition and may let in dust or water? Fail.
Tiny chip in the windshield where the wipers wipe or more than 1cm anywhere else? Fail.
Washers not fully working? Fail.
Headlights not quite in line? Fail.
Spot/fog/reversing lights not working? Fail. Not legally required but if you have them, they must work.
Indicators (blinkers) not blinking within stipulated times? Fail.
Spare wheel (not legally required) not legal? Fail. If you have one, it must be legal to use.
Tiny hole anywhere in the exhaust? Fail.
Handbrake travels more than 7 notches to lock the rear wheels? Fail.
Brakes don't pull up in a straight line or uneven pressure causing more than 20% imbalance? Fail.
Any loose bodywork? Fail.
Any rust in the floor pan enough to knock a hole through with a hammer? Fail.
Low on oil? Fail.
Oil or fuel leaks from the engine? Fail.
The list is endless.

And that's not counting the myriad of little things they check, plus the emissions (very strict limits).
You guys can drive a wreck that would never be allowed on our roads.

FW you obviously don't understand.
Despite how important their guns are Americans simply can not be bothered to submit to any intrusive examinations.....no matter that they are obviously needed(see death rate by firearms in USA) they are an infringement on the rights that some of our forefathers fought to defend .
That will not be tolerated, even if that means barricading themselves in their forts...er houses and fighting to the last breath.[8|]

Actually, I do understand.
And that's the shame of it and what makes the whole bag of shit so laughable.

It's akin to what's worse - the disease or the cure! [:D]
Almost every other country took the cure and we're still here to tell the tale.
Americans refuse to do so because it might just infringe their personal rights!
Oh fuck me! What a terrible thought!!! The medicine might help me stay alive. [8|]

Pahh!! What utter paranoid lunacy.

slvemike4u -> RE: Three Muslims shot (2/13/2015 11:15:13 AM)

I do,you don't get the concept that you are only a PART of a society....and that the other PARTS of that society have rights too.
The first and foremost right is the one to LIFE....which is exceedingly infringed upon by gun owners/holders who indiscriminately rob others of that first and foremost righ.

By the way anyone else notice that the idiot in Missoula (sp?) got himself a seventy year prison sentence...of course the German exchange student is still dead.
This was another "responsible" "law abiding" citizen at work, wasn't it ?

Still waiting for that example of my true goal of confiscation or whatever you imagine my thought to be [8|]
How long must I wait ?

Add that to the fact that he completely ignored the information I provided in an earlier post about deaths due to distracted driving...by drunk driving. Of course, those are caused by cars, cell phones, and alcohol and we all know that cell phone owners and car owners are responsible owners.

yeah right.
You'll fight that corner until the very rights you are defending get you killed.
So far, you have not been on the wrong end of one or you'd not be here shouting your mouth off.

Guns save lives?
Sure they do.
But most Americans can't be assed to bother - as was evident in this scenario.
3 people dead because NOBODY BOTHERED.

You also only speak for a portion of society, a shortsighted portion at that.
Even if I only speak for a portion of society it is one that wants to protect RIGHTS, not turn them into PRIVILEGES.
Right to life, that is the point to the right of self defense, and you want to take that away.
And since you are trying to skip to another subject no he wasn't responsible, but you can't ignore the fact that if the German hadn't been in someone else's garage he wouldn't be dead either, but I suppose going through other peoples garage in the middle of the night is responsible.

Which of those other "things" were being operated as designed ?
People die, that is not the issue, the issue is the manner of death....and the possible path to reducing the frequency
All the rest that you brought to the table amount to red herrings and actually deserved to be ignored...which is what I will be doing from here on out.
I didn't want you to feel ignored.....so this once I responded. But bring more bullshit to the discussion and I will simply ignore it
I can't be bothered responding to every jackass proclamation made here, there are far too many idiots and I have far too little time [:)]
Next someone will show up and point out that children are drowning in pools....we've been there before,I'm not joining any ban the pools

My portion is growing skippy....and as someone pointed out earlier if you folks keep obstructing the change that is coming the end result just might wind up more draconian than it needs to be.
Here is the thing,as things stand people are going to keep dying from the indiscriminate use of firearms...and in appalling numbers (care to argue that certainty with me )sooner or later a tipping point is reached.
At that point good men, of strong conscious and principal, will be forced to act .
The tide is against your viewpoint ,hell you might as well be advocating for segregation or not allowing woman to vote...society moves on pal,and nothing you do will stop it.

So 'splain it to me WHY they took them... apparently illegally?
Surely they had the right to defend their property, even if that meant SYG and shooting those trying to take their guns??

Nope. something doesn't add up here.
Either they were corrupt officials - in which case they should be sacked and jailed.
Or, there were more reasons to removing the guns that hasn't been reported.

are you telling us that the cops who you back to the hilt pretty much every time there is a thread about a cop killing someone are incompetent?

I seem to recall you blaming the dead people nearly 100% of the time, saying it was there own actions that caused their death.

Now suddenly, when it suits you, cops are incompetent. That puts a funny old spin on a lot of your old posts doesn't it?
