The laws we now don't enforce are toothless and designed to have as little effect as possible on the market.
The gun industry and their lackeys at the NRA have seen to that.
Do you really think I'm stupid enough to accept that red herring ?

I was just trying to find some common ground Mike. Do you really think arresting on the spot those 10's of thousands of ex felons who are prohibited from possessing firearms at the point of purchase is toothless ? It even sounds easy to me for law enforcement. They don't have to go looking for them. They're right there at the gun store.

What about max sentences for violent crimes and serving the full terms ? Does that seem toothless or is it just more NRA laws designed to have little effect on the market ?

No,I don't intend to discuss those fixes with you.
This is a gun thread and the issue is the easy access to weapons.
Now what you bring up is worthy of discussion but in no way mitigates the need to restrict the market of firearms in this country.
Have the intellectual courage to discuss that problem ,on this thread, than feel free to start another, deflection thread of your own.
By the way what you suggest is not,in fact,easy....not without the national database that the NRA stands in the way of.
Another thing...do you know how many gun stores and wal mart's we have in this country.....I highly doubt that,at current staffing numbers,we can afford to station officers in each and every point of sale venue.
Not with all the venue's we have....which brings us right back to restricting the market for gun sales

Oh......and all this time I thought it was about restricting gun access to criminals. But now I get it. You want to restrict my access. Actually the thread is about an idiot who murdered 3 Muslim students. I think you're the one with your intellectual courage and all going all over the place with gun control and your NRA bashing. Since when has the NRA apposed a national data base of ex felons and crazy people ?

I guess Walmart would have to hire a whole staff just to pick up a phone and call police......got it.

No I want to restrict the market,if that means your weapons cost more so be it,if that means you are restricted in how you go about reselling,so be it.
If that means you will have to wait three to five days while comprehensive background checks and mental health wellness is established so be it.
Inconveniences, possibly depending on your outlook....but increasing numbers of us feel the bloodletting and the death of children is way past inconvenient and are willing to see you jump thru those hoops to get your hands on those weapons that get you wet.
All of this helps to shrink the market which as anyone can tell you makes the weapons you now own worth more....so we did you a favor there, you will repay that favor by letting us keep track of that weapon...so we know the bozo you sell it to will have passed the same stringent vetting.

edited to add.The better question is why does the NRA resist a national data base for weapon sales ,or why the resistance to smart weapons.
Hell I can answer both those questions and any others about why the NRA resists anything....because it'sin the best interests of the gun industry to do so.

And it keeps poor people from owning firearms.

That's what you are doing here...advocating for the rights of poor people to own firearms ?
How do you feel about poor people having access to quality medical care ?
How about access to affordable ,safe housing (you do know there is a homeless people problem in this country)
Let's go one step further, should poor people have access to swimming pools ?

The discussion is not about smart guns Ya need to
Go back to the thread where that discussion was thoroughly covered. When we actually have a functionally reliable smart gun I'm not going there. At the moment smart guns are stupid

As to why the NRA resists a national data base for weapon sales, it means gun registration. Do I really need ta splain that one to ya ? You can put on your tin foil hat and scream at the top of your lungs all ya want that the NRA's main purpose is to protect the gun industry and all your other NRA bashing talking points but it doesn't make it weally twue.

Whether or not smart guns are stupid.....why does the NRA resist and lobby against them, that was the question ?
Your opinion on their viability is immaterial to the question

And yes the NRA is the mouthpiece and the muscle (thu it's lobbying arm) behind the gun industry.

Are you reading the thread.
Or just skimming your posts and mine ?
Aylee complained about the poor having access to weapons,I merely asked how she felt about real issues that the poor have to deal with, issues that she as a conservative turns a hard heart to.

You will have to go back to the 'Another "successful" carry story' thread and comb through the 35 plus pages for your answer. I'm sorry you missed it.

Your load of NRA bashing crap is covered in the same thread. I even provided the proof that you're full of shit on that one. But by all means keep repeating it over and over and that might actually make it weally twue

Oh ok, so then it's alright if I bring up criminal access to guns in an "access to weapons" thread, got it.

And how the fuck do you what's in Aylees heart ?

We keep this up and I will end up locking every gun thread out there. I realize that these are topics that you all feel strongly about, but really, some of you are just taking five miles when we gave you one.

I want you to have the freedom to speak as this section allows and you are making me sorry I did it. If you haven't noticed, I tend to jump in fast and end things. I have been asking for your consideration for some time. I'm done talking. Please stop forcing my hand.

See... I used to be like you people. A major gun advocate, going on forums fighting the good fight, actually was dumb enough to even donate to the NRA. Been a 10 year california gun member and 8year 2A foundation member. Honestly debating the anti's..... who cares. You will NEVER convince them, and they will never convince you. Let them jack off to the smart guns. Not like any intelligent firearm owner would ever purchase one. Nor would the ever be mandated into law that all handguns require it.

Just buy your guns, buy a few thousand rounds and a good safe and some classes. Let everyone else debate. They WILL NOT be coming for your guns any time soon whatsoever. More guns in America then Citizens. For your grand kids guns? Maybe? But who cares at that point, America is already broken and on the way to complete globalization. My life has been so much better since I got my head out of the stupid gun debate and liberal vs conservatism crap. Who cares. Enjoy life.

I get what you're saying however there are quite a few people who read through these threads and threads on other sites that rarely if ever post. These lurkers are many times gleening information and forming opinions based on what they read. Besides, it's so much fun if you don't get emotional about it. FYI, the state of NJ has a mandatory smart gun law. When the first viable smart gun hits the market, it kicks in. I enjoyed reading your post. Welcome to the forums and come back just for the fun of it.

I enjoyed his post as well. Breath of fresh air and a good attempt to share a bit of his thoughts, which I hope he doesn't get beaten over.

I have been proven very, very wrong. I tried.

I will be increasing staff. I need to see some real improvement and self control or this gig is over.

Now, back to my sexy music. I'm not even mad yet.
