I was browsing IMDB for a while and every so often I come across a reference to an old TV show or movie I haven't seen in maybe decades. As far as I know you can't find them on Netflix or Hulu.

A couple I'd like to see (and I'm sure I'm giving up my age by some of the references)

Sunshine - a TV Movie based on a true life story of a woman dying of cancer (featured a lot of John Denver songs)

Its About Time - (theme song - Its about time, its about space, about two men in a stranger's place) Comedy TV show where astronauts go back in time to Caveman days - a sort of Gilligan's Island in time travel. Really corny - as a kid I loved it though.

The Plutonium Incident Made for TV Movie that seemed to be the Karen Silkwood story but "fictional"

The Forbin Project The movie that was the mother of all computers gone amok movies done in the 60s where computers decide what is best for humanity. The Forbin computer decides to collaborate with the Russian counterpart and end the cold war, but people are now under the jurisdiction of what the computers allow.

Occasional Wife: TV sitcom about a man who works for a corporation that wants a family man image - so he "hires" a woman in his building to act the part of his wife.

Does anyone remember any of these and does anone else have any obscure shows or movies they'd like to rediscover?

I remember Sunshine. It was so sad and I cried a bathtub full.

I'd like to get another copy of Gone in Sixty Seconds, not the remake but the original from way back when. It had lousy acting, a horrible sound track, and the best 45 minute long chase scene in movie history. I loaned my copy to my kids who loaned it to their friends who loaned it to who knows at this point.

A made for TV mini series I'd enjoy seeing again is Backstairs at the Whitehouse. It was neat to learn the strange habits of those in the Whitehouse.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

I remember none of those but I have a couple that might give a glimpse into the Mania that is Michael:

"When Things Were Rotten" - A re-telling (by Mel Brooks) of the legend of Robin Hood. Starring Dick Gautier and (I think) Dick Van Patten.

"Planet Of the Apes - TV Series" - Came on on Friday nights (8 or 8:30). It didn't last long but I was young and a fan of the movies.

"Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home" - Animated progressive weekly show about a family with a rebellious teen-aged girl and younger brother (I think).

Michael

I remember "Sunshine".....depressing! But movies about terminal illness always remind me of "Griffin and Phoenix". The original one was made in the mid 70s with Peter Falk and Jill Clayburgh, but I heard that it was remade 7 or 8 years ago.

ETA....I remember "Wait Til Your Father Gets Home"....loved it!

"Barbarians at the Gate"....James Garner as the CEO trying to takeover RJR Nabisco. Very funny made for TV movie... but based on a true story.

"Love American Style"....the show that spun off "Happy Days"

"The Banana Splits".....Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snorky!

and last but not least.....

H.R. Pufnstuf!

If you stream the overnight show at WMMR 93.3FM in Philadelphia, the DJ plays the Banana Splits theme two or three times a week.

Personally I'd like to see Blake's 7 again. It's a British show from the late 70's to early 80's that was very much the direct ancestor to Firefly in that the crew was a bunch of badly mismatched personalities who were all running from their pasts.

Twilights Last Gleaming...with Kirk Douglas and a younger Martin Sheen.
I don't know why,I saw the thread and that's what I thought of.
Not bad alternate history, time warp sort of thing.
A nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier gets caught in a storm after sallying from Pearl Harbor present day, runs into a storm and comes out the other end on Dec.6th ,1941....just in time to thwart the Pearl Harbor attack by the forces of the Emperor.
Of course the ending just cheats the whole purpose of the plot, somehow the storm overtakes the Carrier just as they are about to launch a most devastating attack on Admiral Nagumo's task force and sucks them back to their own time....so it's all mental masturbation, with no come shot

I know the movie you are talking about but know it by the name The Final Countdown. I liked it. It hasn't been on TV in a very long time. I liked that quirky past/present thing.

Final Countdown....yes ,yes ,and yes again
Twilight's Last Gleaming was a Burt Lancaster,Yapheet Kotto (sp?) movie about a renegade Sac Com general who has the launch codes and is barricaded inside a launch silo or something with his finger on the button and a gleam in his eye....lol
Thanks for the correction...I might have spent an hour or two tomorrow trying to order the movie on Amazon....lol

I'd like to see "The Ballad of Little Jo". A fictional account of a true story in what was then the Montana Territor(ies?)y.

And another one I liked and the gods only know why, was 'A Place in Time' starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour I think.

Blake's 7 is something that I have a memory of as a small child. However, I am not sure how I have this memory, and whether it is actually a nightmare from having seen the show. It is to do with a crawling severed hand, and it has stayed with me all my life.

I don't even remember anything specific about the show, just that I know this severed hand is linked to it lol

though I don't know if these qualify as "obscure"---ive been able to find episodes of the whacky racers and space ghost online, but not so much speed racer, kimba the white lion, George of the jungle, and underdog.

The Lost Platoon: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0183419/

Terrible acting, $20.00 budget, awesome concept and story... the antagonist can/will turn the most meek pacifist into full blown sadist with his mind blowing SUCK acting.

I'd love to see a remake with a HUGE budget.

Kiss of The Spider Woman with Sonja Braga, William Hurt and Raul Julia. (Independant)

Luis Molina and Valentin Arregui are cell mates in a South American prison. Luis, a homosexual, is found guilty of immoral behaviour and Valentin is a political prisoner. To escape reality Luis invents romantic movies, while Valentin tries to keep his mind on the situation he's in. During the time they spend together, the two men come to understand and respect one another.

One of the most bizarre films I have ever seen; I've seen it three times now, is "Taxidermia". Its period is around the start of the 1st world war but goes on for four generations. I think it was a Serbian film. A must see for anyone with a mind as sick and twisted as mine
