BamaD -> What happened in Denmark? (2/15/2015 8:20:04 AM)

Is there any question that the two attacks in Denmark were terrorism?
A meeting for free speech featuring a cartoonist who lampooned Muslim radicals was one target and a Jewish Synagogue.
Lets separate this from the Chapel Hill shootings

I see it as nothing more than a copycat of the French Charlie Edbo episode.

slvemike4u -> RE: What happened in Denmark? (2/15/2015 8:43:05 AM)

First explain how it got tied up in the Chapel Hill shooting in the first place [8|]
Than, and only than I will be happy to go along with the separation [:)]

Or an extension of an intent to silence opposition.

You have "just a minority" determined to force the majority to bend to the will of Allah

They (Islamists) also bomb discos and kosher delis

A top ISIS militant was recently found beheaded with a cigarette stuck in his mouth

Allah was not pleased with his wicked debauchery so he had to die

bounty44 -> RE: What happened in Denmark? (2/15/2015 8:49:13 AM)

"copycat" that might be a way to describe it, but what seems to be at the heart of the matter is the all too often violent response by muslims towards anyone who does a characterization of Muhammad.

which leads me to ask a deeper question---to what extent is it accurate to say that "islam is a religion of the sword?"

Arent you the one bitching on that thread about someone bringing the Denmark incident over there? Yet...here you are trying to insert Chapel Hill into the Denmark thread.

Yes that was me(did you have trouble identifying the avatar?)...but I figured what was good for the goose ,should be good for the gander,no?
Was I wrong to do this ?
I sure hope it wasn't/isn't a violation of TOS

By the way,you still haven't answered the first question I asked, who was the not too bright poster that linked it in the first place over there ?
Point out my left leaning compadre and I shall send them a nasty letter advising them of the errors of their ways [;)]

Tell you what...it upset you so much, why don't you read all through the thread and find him?

bounty44 -> RE: What happened in Denmark? (2/15/2015 10:36:04 AM)

in the back and forth sniping, I think we've maybe missed this, which I like enough to post again:

I have no need,I know who did it....I'm wondering if you do ? ,in addition,I'm wondering if you know what the purpose of that deflection was ?

In all honesty, I don't care. He got shot down quick...the thread went back to the topic .

I think it is an Apr description of the Muslim extremists. To say that is descriptive of Muslims as a whole would be pushing it a bit.

slvemike4u -> RE: What happened in Denmark? (2/15/2015 11:05:48 AM)

Okay, lets get back on topic than.....what we have here is the result of extremism,of some members of a certain religion who are ,culturally speaking, stuck somewhere a few hundred years ago...culture wise and in the way they think.
Now we all agree that it's time that culture step out of the fourteenth century and join the rest of us here in 2015.
And we should encourage and even prod them towards doing so....but,and I merely ask,do we have our own instance of fealty to a "culture" no longer suitable for modern society ?
Take a moment to think about it before attacking me for having the temerity to suggest it [8|]

Oooooo...I bet I can guess..."how remarkably similar is this fealty to a culture from a time long past is our own fealty to a gun culture from a time long past?"

Did I get it? I bet I did.

There's just a couple of problems. Their fealty is to a religion, not a culture OTHER THAN the one grown up alongside that religion. The gun culture, as you like to describe it, is about observation of an individual's right, regulated by law, to own a gun. Finally, this thread is about an incident in Denmark revolving around one relgion's response to other people's right to assemble and engage in free discussion. Not the Second Amendment.

when it comes to islam being a "religion of the sword" or not, what makes you think they are "stuck in the 14th century" such that they need to join the 21st? do you somehow expect them to interpret their sacred writings in some way other than what they literally say just because its 2015?

bounty44 -> RE: What happened in Denmark? (2/15/2015 12:58:07 PM)

i think my question goes beyond the individual level, and im asking it from the macroscopic level so to speak.

or maybe put another way---are what we are calling extremists just merely living out the tenets of the faith, because, afterall, islam is a religion of the sword?
