ET, I am like you...I think what I think and know WHY I believe in it and it really does not matter to me whether others agree or not. I have no need for strangers to validate my positions.

Exactamundo! When it's all said and done, I live with my choices, they are mine.

quote:

Charles Aked said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"** and biblical sentiment that it is a human responsibility to oppose evil...

I agree with you entirely. I do not do "nothing", I take a stance for myself... sometimes (often) against myself.

Often, an epic fail is some seriously funny shit and I can/do laugh when it happens, but then I compose myself and refuse to kick them when they are down. I've had the benefit of being raised among the most heartless and ruthless people you can imagine, but rather continuing the cycle, I stopped and empathized with the recipient of X, and left it alone or if it was something I could help, I helped.

(almost expounded on the ruthless heartless clan here... deleted the bulk to save bandwidth)

While I am not a religious person, I am a very spiritual person. I do not view the 10 commandments as polite suggestions, though not religious, I think they are very sound guidelines in which to lead my life by. I am considerably deeper than that, but the 10 give us a great point of reference to begin with.

Jus sayin

Exiled,

In the original post here, you said "For me it is not about "tolerating" X it is about "accepting" X as your thing and it's okay... not my thing, I do not have to participate, and I can wear my big boy underoos and choose to avoid it rather than condemn it. "

Then on the punishment thread, you said "No. I need a responsible adult in my life, not an appendage that needs micromanaged and/or constantly corrected. Discussion works for me."

Calling someone who engages in a punishment dynamic an "appendage" that needs micromanagement isn't a condemnation of that practice?

Any particular reason you are wanting to wrangle everyone into my personal dynamic? I mean, I only play a slut on here, not in real life.

Topic? What is this 'topic' you speak of?

Maria, that was Rochsubs thread and it was a great one...minus the bullshit. I feel like there might have been one of two people who walked away from it thinking different things. Maybe... lol
