The US Herald reports:
While some would consider the Good Samaritan a hero, Adric White's family says otherwise. A member of White's family also spoke to Fox10 News and said, "If his (the customer) life was not in danger, if no one had a gun up to him, if no one pointed a gun at him – what gives him the right to think that it’s okay to just shoot someone? You should have just left the store and went wherever you had to go in your car or whatever."

Adric White (18), was robbing a Dollar General when an unnamed Good Samaritan with a concealed carry stepped in and fired five rounds at White that sent him to the hospital. The unnamed man told Fox10 News, "He had the gun to his head. He had him on his knees," said the man. "I drew my gun on him and I said ‘Hey don’t move.’ At that point he swung around and before he had a chance to aim the gun at me, I fired. I didn’t want to shoot him."

Complaining about using deadly force against someone using deadly force is kind of ironic don't you think? Not too long ago we hung horse thieves. Nowadays, you can't shoot an intruder stealing you TV... unless he is armed. From a legal stance, a good shooting is when you are "in fear of your life" not when you are "in fear of losing your TV." You are supposed to let them have the TV and call the police to stop him. Otherwise you can get sued for manslaughter, assault etc.

Seems like the family's stance is the shooter wasn't in fear of his life because the armed robber wasn't pointing the weapon at him in the beginning. As if he brought this on himself by intervening in illegal deadly force being used on someone else.

Listening to the family member talk about this real makes me wonder how they can think like that?

But, but... he was a good boy.

And a lucky one, too. It must have been a faulty gun. They're "designed to kill," yanno.

It's the "Inmates-Running-The-Asylum" mentality. Life is precious (unless it's a fetus) and nothing is worth a person's life ... which is primarily how the dirtbags aught to think, before they go out to steal what isn't theirs.

We've become a society of graNtitude, rather than gratitude. You have some shit that I want. I don't care that you worked for it. I want it. Admittedly, because I'm such a good person, first, I'll try to get the government to make a law, stealing your shit for me, but when that doesn't work, I'm gonna get your shit ... one way or another.

Why can't you fucking vict ... errr ... people realize that I'm entitled to the same good shit that you have?

ETA: I thought I was done, but I'm not.

Don't you understand that when you work hard all of your life, when you go without some things (cigarettes, nights out with your lady, whatever) so that you can get something that really means a lot to you (that Corvette or the Les Paul or that 7' wide screen TV) that you, having that makes me less of a person or less deserving of respect.

You, working, saving, scrimping to do for yourself or your family devalues me, sitting in my living room, smoking weed and playing video games.

joether -> RE: -=Family Was Outraged Because Their Son Got Shot Committing An Armed Robbery!=- (2/19/2015 5:00:03 AM)

I find the underlying currents to this thread....suspicious....

Let's start with some observations:

A ) This is a gun thread (no duh, eh?). Just like the others in which the gun folkss got smacked down and resorted to name calling and threats. It'll get shut down by the Moderators...

B ) As stated, many of the threads basically shattered myths of gun carrying private citizens over coming great odds. Well OK, most of the stories involving someone with a firearm dealing with a law breaker was either part of "A Well Regulated Militia...." law enforcement or "A Well Regulated Militia...." person in the military. Some of those stories pushed by the pro-gun folks were vaguely worded and without footnotes. And I got the footnotes and the full story to each of them. Funny, wasn't challenged by anyone for doing the research and calling the bullshit stories out!

C ) So this thread is trying to find....something....to show the pro-gun folks are correct. Yes, in a nation of 310+ million people, were there exists nearly 100+ million firearms; it was bound to happen right? Then again, broken clocks are right twice a day....

So lets get to the heart of this story:

A Mr. Adric White robs a store with a firearm (any info on type of gun?). While the story from pro-firearm sites portray the following events: "the thug had a store employee on his knees with a gun to his head....", a video does not seem to show the actual attack. Dont modern stores have cameras watching entrances and any place that handles money? I'll give ground here and assume the police are not showing that footage for now.

Mr. White has a prior from September of last year, which will not help him if this thing goes to trial. And frankly, I cant see how he has a prayer of being innocent with that many witnesses. He's going away for a ....LONG...time.

The good Samaritan in this? Yeah, he did a really good thing. I have no problem with that. He wasn't using the firearm in conjunction the the actual 2nd amendment. He had a gun, and used it. Go ahead....challenge me on this....

The family of Mr. White? Do not have a case or a leg to stand on for an argument. Their kid was up to no good, and threatening people. Guess they didn't teach him good citizenship skills....

But the issue I have with this 'story' is not about the good Samaritan. Or the firearm issues. Its the timing. This issue came up back in late December of 2014. And its now just arriving here on the forums? It was a 'no story' back last year. But since the pro-gun crew on here took many lumps in their 'arguments' on several threads. it 'Magically Appears' here? Do you guys understand this feels like a set-up and not a genuine situation? If this issue came up back in December it would have been over in a page. No real arguments regarding the issue itself. But it comes up....now....?

What I'm getting at here, is that while the story was good. And it does help you that there is an example of a private firearm owner stopping death and destruction. You have corrupted any good will, that could have been had, because the timing and events feel fishy. Like you have an underlying motive to all this. You guys dont trust liberals, moderates, and government; yet expect if not DEMAND, unconditional trust back at you. Well, hate to say this, but trust works both ways. I dont trust this thread's premise and objective is 'legit' for reasons stated.

petitespot -> RE: -=Family Was Outraged Because Their Son Got Shot Committing An Armed Robbery!=- (2/19/2015 5:34:38 AM)

He should of had the shit beat out of him by everyone in that store after he was shot.
Where is the outrage for the poor guy who went to work that day and ended up on his knees with a gun pointed at his head?

bounty44 -> RE: -=Family Was Outraged Because Their Son Got Shot Committing An Armed Robbery!=- (2/19/2015 6:48:25 AM)

it seems to me the op is much less about "pro-gun" and more about the family's ludicrous response...

oh, and I don't disagree with petitespot either...

I'm sorry, you're disqualified. The timing of your response seems "fishy".

bounty44 -> RE: -=Family Was Outraged Because Their Son Got Shot Committing An Armed Robbery!=- (2/19/2015 7:16:51 AM)

here,

this one is from two weeks ago:

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/delco/Robber-with-fake-gun-shot-by-victim-with-real-gun.html

or how about this one from just an hour ago:

http://www.click2houston.com/news/hpd-robber-shot-during-home-invasion/31356400

victims turning the tables on their would be attackers with firearms happen with regularity. there's no need to have to go back 6-8 weeks to find one.

so---again, it seems its more about the family's response...that is what is making this particularly story unique.

Most parents "love" their kids and are horrified when someone hurts their special pride and joy, even when they are criminals.
Thats how they are supposed to feel. Some abandon them, some stick by them, some deny for the rest of their lives that their babies are innocent.
Why is anyone surprised.

I'm still wondering how the Penguin feels that , because he brings his faulty 2nd Amendment arguments to every gun thread...in which those who lean to the right get tired of being called paranoid, supremacist fetishists begin to respond in kind...he's won.

And when we say that is a faulty argument in opposition to what the writers said we are name. BTW what difference does it make what kind of gun the bad guy have. From his history, he didn't get it legally. The Samaritan should have waited until the thugs gun was aiming at him? The family should be drug tested. Reminds me of a case in Montgomery. A guy held up a little mom and pop store run by an old man using a walker. The owner gave the thug his wallet, then the thug said he was going to kill him. The owner then shot the thug. The thugs family tried to sue the store owner. Fortunately no attorney would take the case since Alabama has a law stating that you can't sue over injuries suffered while committing a crime.

Yes, as we have explained to you time after time, but you pretend that your wisdom outweighs the writings of the people who wrote the 2nd, he was carrying in compliance and within the intent of the 2nd.

i don't doubt there is a lot of truth to this. yet at the same time there is a sense of that a generation or two ago, if you did something bad and got caught doing it, you were the one to blame, and your parents sided with the authorities (or the person who caught you)---for your sake. im not suggesting the family should have thanked the person who shot their son, but, neither do they have a moral leg to stand on. in some regards, they might want to thank the fellow for not killing their son.

so you wonder if there is a societal shift in that thinking, or maybe it never really was that way to begin with...

thishereboi -> RE: -=Family Was Outraged Because Their Son Got Shot Committing An Armed Robbery!=- (2/19/2015 9:22:57 AM)

If this were my kid I would be more concerned with how I raised him to think robbing people at gun point was a good idea and be thankful he was still alive But I am not surprised they are trying to pin the blame on someone else.

A couple of years ago a guy gave his friend a gun. His friend took that gun and killed another man. He then came back to the guys house who gave him the gun and hid in the second story apartment. The guy who gave him the gun didn't seem to have a problem with this and apparently thought it was perfectly safe to let his 7 yr old daughter stay there although he had to have known the cops would come looking for him.

Sure enough the cops showed up and there was a struggle and the little girl was killed. So the guy who gave the other man the gun is now in jail and the one who got the gun and killed someone is also in jail. But the family is still carrying on because no one paid for the little girls life. Sorry but from where I am sitting the two people most responsible for the kid getting shot are in jail but for some reason some folks seem to think they didn't have anything to do with it. They place the blame totally on the cops.

Maybe this lady should have spent more time teaching her kid right from wrong and then she might not be sitting with him in the hospital.

No...there's been a shift. I saw that as a member of the Parent-Teacher Org. when my kids were in school. We spent an awful lot of time dealing with parents who just KNEW their child was perfect.

Yes the problem here is that the thug saw nothing wrong with putting a gun to someones head and robbing him. And that the family thinks there is something wrong with someone who stops him. As someone on here once told me it was none of the citizens business.

Not surprised Lucy but maybe tired of the "Hands up" bullshit of people that refuse to take responsibility for their children and neighborhoods.

slvemike4u -> RE: -=Family Was Outraged Because Their Son Got Shot Committing An Armed Robbery!=- (2/19/2015 10:24:59 AM)

Yeah cause most of those folks in those neighborhoods are well empowered to make changes in their environments [8|]
Seriously Butch, you know better than that, you know the issues are much deeper and much more entrenched than a simple decision to be better will solve.
