This shall answer the question once and for all!

For me, it is inherently sexual. Someone who can keep me right on that edge, while I never know if I will be given release or not, well once I decide they are compatible with me I will follow that fucker to the end of the world for the orgasm. I cannot imagine not being sexual in this type of relationship, it just does not compute in my head.

Until reading a certain thread just now, it never occurred to me that it could be non-sexual. So, being the kind giving and inquisitive person (also bored outta my fucking skull) I give you this.

Multiples are allowed, suggestions for additions welcomed.

As a concept, as a whole no I don't think BDSM is inherently sexual. Can it be? Sure. Does it have to be? No.

Okay, as with most things, it is how it is for ME. Occasionally some pissy twit wants to take what I say as the borad-sweeping gospel... which I am good with as long as there is tithing done to me (preferably cash, no fuss no muss)... but that isn't ever the case, I participate from my POV, and My kink is married to My dick. Finding WIITWD only gave me vocabulary for my freaks, they were ever present, and all that I do in the realm of kink is inherently sexual TO ME, which should be about the same for most.

I mean, I cannot imagine sticking a dildo up your ass for a fashion statement... but I don't get out much.

Jus sayin

For me, it's sexual. My earliest stirrings of sexuality combined with BDSM images wired me that way.

Don't we all know where I stand on this by now? Ha. For me, yes, no one gets to flog me unless they are gonna fuck me.

I think what that poster was trying to say was what is sexual about tying someone up in and of itself?

Not really anything.

However- Im hung up on "inherently" still and because we are talking about BDSM as a whole and in practice- I don't think it is inherently anything except what one person makes it. The way it was phrased was generalizing.

But I already expressed that and apologized for misunderstanding.

BDSM is inherently human, and most humans are inherently sexual, so most (but not all) BDSM ends up being sexual.

I think you are spot on. I will use/do just about anything that gives me a reason to touch. Touch, to me, is the meaning of life, and you just cannot spell touch without ouch... and what's a little ouch between friends?

Everything.

Speaking as the one who gets tied, being tied up is inherently sexual. I can orgasm from being in a tie without any genital stimulation.

If we start play and I'm not sexually into it, I am by the time he's finished tying me.
The slow slide of the rope as it gets pulled across me, very sensual and sexual.
His breath on my body as he clinically moves me one way or the other, adjusting the ropes.
The rope pulling my limbs into the positions he sees in his head.

Entirely sexual folks.

I mean, I think she meant, tying someone up doesn't involve banging them. You've made it sexy to you- but it doesnt have direct sexual context for everyone.

But I'm fully in the camp of it being sexual for me. And I know others who don't find it necessary to bang after. I'd still argue they do it because it is erotic and sensual though...

Here is a better example- you get arrested- are those handcuffs sexy? No. So handcuffs by themselves- aren't sexy. They need context to be sexy.

But who does BDSM without getting SOMETHING out of it? I mean even if you don't bang them- doesn't it fill SOME need?

Idk at this point- I think I've done enough damage to the community for one day...so unless someone can explain it beyond my understanding, thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

ETA- Seriously. I've been sucking at grammar today.

ETAA- I'm a gemini, I'm sorry. I am currently stuck in limbo with this internally and I don't think there is anything "inherent" about BDSM. Its all context and the people involved.

LOL exactly this and what DesFIP said. It is hard for me to even get too far into the image of rope on skin without having it "take over" in a sense. Kink in general is so incredibly hot. It's like the most intense feeling of euphoria when I'm in that D space. During play with bondage, I try to get my restraints done and during that time my hands are moving very quickly and with very little thought and I'll see bare skin and then complement it with more rope... Totally succumbing to rope restraints I think is one of the hottest things for me to see. Once I'm done I'll usually admire my work before switching gears and moving into other things. I really do enjoy hands, so touching them to test out circulation thereafter is delightful because typically their fingers are immobile as well. I think rollercoasters elicit the same feeling kink play does for me and I especially like those because of my fear of heights. It is sexual yes, and then there's more... I feel like every cell in my body is responding to the indulgence of it. The everything happening in that moment brings me to levels of lust I couldn't imagine. And I just want into sink deeper into it until satiated.
For my sweet collared, it is joy in service and my happiness. There is "purity" in his submission so I am more of a soft and caring Domme with him.
(I just read what I typed and geez louise, debating on posting it but eh...gonna do it anyway, LOL)
