Perhaps the greatest failing of Bush was he failed to sell what was needed to be done to the American people. His father failed when he raised taxes. His father was impressive. His son evidently inherited the same weakness, an ability to know what must be done without knowing how to sell it.

... In every dark cloud there is a silver lining. He did not see this. Why did he fail to see it? A wise leader does not fail to see such things.

What was the Obama party platform? "There is no good in evil. The United States is evil." Then, the people who voted for him wonder if the U.S. Senate is treasonous?

The rightwing Nazi shiteaters ... .

Ah, the magic of propaganda. Sadly, neither Bush was any good at it. The Democrats on the other hand proved to be experts.

There are less than treaties, and the approval is after negotiation, by a vote, they do not have the power to negotiate.

Thank you for your demonstration of not understanding the constitution.

I suspect you do not know what is at stake. One can invoke natural law here. There is no way the President can stop it without making a move so unpopular that it would spark a civil war. They can because there is nothing to stop them. Obama is an antichrist. If you are worried that a tragedy is going to ensue, ask yourself why did you vote for him? To vindicate yourself? To prove it was only a superstition? You sided with the devil.

Uh, other than you are weapons grade fucking stupid, there is no response.

i find it astonishing when people compare the right wing to Nazi's when its the contemporary progressive/liberal whose platform bears an incredibly astonishing resemblance to the Nazi's positions.

Optimists see the world differently. Optimists do not cringe in fear. I am optimistic that we are not going to get another Democrat in office.

That is totally backwards. the rightwing Nazi shiteaters are exactly fitted like a tailored suit to the Nazi ideology.

That is not optimism, it is hallucination.

It is classic projection

And there is nothing liberal or progressive about them

Whether the GOP's actions constitute treason or otherwise is not for me to say.

But people discussing a potential agreement with Iran ought to be aware that the only alternative to agreement is war. So it's not a matter of party polticking but war or peace.

Hopefully this realisation will ensure a more mature approach to this issue.

That is what a pessimist would say.

mnottertail -> RE: How is this not Treason? (3/10/2015 8:59:41 AM)

You would be a realistic pessimist at any rate, rather than a hallucinatory optimist.

ive posted this before about a month ago, here it is again:

a quote by hitler: "We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions."

Hitler was named "Man of the Year" in 1938 by Time Magazine. They noted Hitler's anti-capitalistic economic policies:

some of the tenets of the National Socialist German Workers Party Platform:

"We demand that the State shall make it its primary duty to provide a livelihood for its citizens.
"We demand the nationalization of all businesses which have been formed into corporations (trusts).
"We demand profit-sharing in large industrial enterprises.
"We demand the extensive development of insurance for old age.
"We demand the creation and maintenance of a healthy middle class, the immediate communalizing of big department stores,
"The State must consider a thorough reconstruction of our national system of education
"The State must ensure that the nation's health standards…

in short: "To put the whole of this programme into effect, we demand the creation of a strong central state power for the Reich; the unconditional authority of the political central Parliament over the entire Reich and its organizations; and the formation of Corporations based on estate and occupation for the purpose of carrying out the general legislation passed by the Reich in the various German states."

hitler on gun control: "The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms."

hitler and abortion: When the Nazis came to power in 1933 one of the first acts Hitler did was to legalize abortion. By 1935 Germany with 65 million people was the place where over 500,000 abortions were being performed each year.

fascism is a form of totalitarianism where private property doesn't really exist and the power is concentrated in corporations owned and operated by the state.

any of those things sound familiar??

and in case you miss the irony of your "holocaust" point. there is nothing inherently "right" about bigotry, in fact, conservatives and libertarian types are primarily color blind when it comes to race and ethnicity, as opposed to leftists who see pretty everything through that particular prism---and um---its the left who were then and are today, the anti-Semitic crowd.

and oh, found some others:

"We demand a land reform suitable to our national requirements, the passing of a law for the expropriation of land for communal purposes without compensation; the abolition of ground rent, and the prohibition of all speculation in land."

"To put the whole of this programme into effect, we demand the creation of a strong central state power... "

not to mention anti-Semitism.

again, Nazism is a leftists wet dream.

It is unwise to beg for peace if war is inevitable. Europe did this before the break out of World War II. They were all saying the same high brow intellectual stuff like this. We "ought to be aware that the only alternative to agreement is war." and as mnottertail might put it, it is "weapons grade fucking stupid".
