If anything it just demonstrates that they have nothing substantial regarding climate change. They just think "oh if the liberals say it's happening, then I have an obligation to dissagree with them regardless of the scientific evidence".

TK Off topic is common.

I agree, but there's a difference between an off topic discussion and people throwing vile comments at one another, and in no way am I saying that I haven't participated in that, but I think it would be much more constructive to try and avoid such actions of possible, don't you?

KenDckey -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 8:22:49 AM)

yeah they aren't constructive and show ignorance in my opinion.

Tkman117 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 8:38:24 AM)

Exactly, so if the others agree then maybe we can get back to the discussion on the science of climate change. To the deniers out there, you can go ahead and make your points. But please keep it scientific with actual peer reviewed research, no political websites, blogs, or organizations that have a clear bias towards big oil or those who profit from denying climate change.

One problem that I see, and the reason that I don't necessarily agree with either side of the equation, is that you start with a theory and then go out to prove it. That occurs and you prove your theory. Whether or not you look at the opposite side of the theory isn't relavant and that is where the problem lies. Even when peer reviewed. If they follow the same methodology, they will come to the same conclusion.

Hence, confusion.

"Man you people just love to get off topic, I've tried to get us back into discussing the science I think 2-3 times now but you just won't have it will you. Should I try to get a mod in here to fix things or are we all gonna behave like adults and do it ourselves?"

Hilarious how you go about hurling insults, then start whining for a moderator like a little baby...

And now you think you get to steer the conversation? Fuck off.

As for the topic -

To global warming preachers like Al Gore and his faithful sheeple, global warming is all about monopolizing political power for the far left through mindless fear mongering and guilt trips, and furthering their favorite project, the destruction of the free enterprise system:

quote:

SXSW: Gore says climate-change deniers should pay political price

AUSTIN, Texas — Former Vice President Al Gore on Friday called on SXSW attendees to punish climate-change deniers, saying politicians should pay a price for rejecting “accepted science.”

Gore said smart investors are moving away from companies tied to fossil fuels and toward companies investing in alternative energy.

"We need to put a price on carbon to accelerate these market trends,” Gore said, referring to a proposed federal cap-and-trade system that would penalize companies that exceeded their carbon-emission limits. “And in order to do that, we need to put a price on denial in politics."

Moving on and back to the topic would be a good thing. [;)]

KenDckey -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 9:27:04 AM)

Yeah I believe Al Gore NOT. LOL He is the one that said he invented the internet. Lost all credibility then. Hasn't done much in my opinion to regain it.

Tkman117 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 9:34:58 AM)

I wouldn't cite Al Gore even if he paid me, he's a politican, not a climate scientist.

bounty44 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 9:35:22 AM)

remember that any researcher, regardless of their qualifications as an expert, the quality of their research, and the integrity of their character, if they fall into the camp of an opposing position, they are a "denier" and are ipso facto in the pockets of "big oil."

there is absolutely no talking to people who hold to that...

Tkman117 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 9:38:22 AM)

Still throwing around insults Bounty? If you got something constructive to say, say it, because some of us would rather have a civilized debate as opposed to both sides whining about each other.

Excellent points, bounty - and so true. The tactic of calling people "deniers" is an attempt to link them to Naziism, to the "deniers" of the holocaust

Character assassination, lies, obfuscation. Weather isnt climate unless the current weather helps their propaganda... Make a point and watch the ad hominems flow

Tkman117 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 9:53:05 AM)

No we call them deniers because they're denying the existence of observable and measurable changes to our climate being caused by human produced increases in green house has emissions. We're calling a spade a spade, nothing more, nothing less. Now if you got some actual scientific research to back up your claims, I'd personally love to read them. Or are you just gonna continue bitching and trolling?

Ad hominems, such as "bitching" and "trolling"

Tkman117 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 10:09:00 AM)

Calling a spade a spade, now are we actually gonna engage in honest discussion or would you prefer to play the word game?

Not to mention I find it hilariously hypocritical of you to say that considering you make similar, if not the exact, same kind of insults towards people whom you disagree with. I can't even remember how many times you've called someone a troll for simply disagreeing with you [:D]. Should probably step off your high horse bud, because playing the victim isn't working here.

Flashback 1989: UN Predicted Global Warming Would Destroy Entire Nations By 2000

When the modern version of the old Jehovah's Witnesses cultists come knocking, preaching that the end is near? Tell them you like your energy prices affordable, thank you very much

Tkman117 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 10:25:43 AM)

thanks for proving my point sanity, you literally have no substantial evidence for your denial on climate change, just hate for everything left wing or based in reality. Nice job [8|]

Sanity -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 10:46:57 AM)

More from the above article:

quote:

The San Jose Mercury News reported on June 30, 1989 that a “senior environmental official at the United Nations, Noel Brown, says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea levels if global warming is not reversed by the year 2000.”

Brown, who was the director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, warned that “[c]oastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ‘eco-refugees,’ threatening political chaos.” Brown added that “governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human” ability to stop it.

Repent, sinners

Tkman117 -> RE: Climate Change (3/14/2015 10:56:50 AM)

If you got contrary evidence sanity, please provide it, otherwise quit your bitching, it's not helping your position.

if in the least, making a somewhat astute observation is "throwing around insults"...and if in the most, speaking the truth is "throwing around insults", i strongly encourage you to put me on hide.
