LOVE kayaking took a lot of lessons in the UK when I was about 12-13, and my dad built me a snipe to go white river when I was 17, its probably partially why I now have arthritis in my spine and shoulders:) I havent been for many years...at least since I left the UK, but it brings back an urge to do it again:) I tubed alonng the Shenandoah and the Potomac a couple of summers ago, I could have stayed for days, apart from the pesky peeing and eating stuff, I like to travel light on the water. I love swimming and water parks, but yes I think I might try kayaking again this coming summer:) the paddles rotation and strain on your shoulders is what hurts. Oh and your hips if you turn over a lot....if you do a roll, you need to have good hips to help...I practised in a swimming pool for weeks.... we had a pro teaching us and he came to help me roll, I had to hold onto his hips and flick my hips to get upright, cept me, I grab a hold of his trunks, as I flip, I cant quite get up so hanging on to him for dear life, and my hands slid down taking his trunks with him. In the end I popped myself out, opened my eyes to see where i was going and was face to crotch with his...impressive, even underwater junk. i did have the decency to blush, he hadnt even realised.....aaaaaaah youth, is wasted on the young:) Sorry for the ramble but I enjoyed the memory:)
