God only knows. [:)]

I started to read up on it, but it was a bit dizzying.

Damn! He's on to us. Every gay union/wedding I've been to has really been a secret attack on Christianity. It might seem a little odd at first that they've all taken place in church, but that's part of the plot.

since Christianity teaches marriage is between a man and a woman, its not a "secret" attack per se, its in blatant opposition to it.

but to the point of the thread, and the article---have you considered then that perhaps klavan isn't talking about you?

That's fine. 'Marriage' has a religious definition in many different religions. Which one is the correct and true definition? Oh, that's right, Christianity. Which denomination? Since many of them don't agree with each other. Or is anyone going to try foolishly to convince me that there is only one version of the Holy Bible. Once you get done with that, we can proceed to the next part.

IT DOESNT MATTER!

Since marriage has a legal and financial definition as well. Therefore, gay marriage is allowed. Those that are getting married can state under the 1st amendment its a marriage. Irrelevant of what a pile of bigotry pseudo-Christians view on the issue. If one group of people can get married because of their religious viewpoints, than another group can as well. Because those getting married are entering into a contract with legal and financial benefits and liabilities.

Same as if one business man joins another in opening a burger restaurant. They are sharing in the legal and financial benefits and liabilities. If two business men can do that, why can't two gay men get the effective definition of marriage as a contract? An call it marriage?

Until the legal and financial definition of 'marriage' is removed from all parts of the United States; the hateful pseudo-Christians do not have an argument to stand on!

I think there is something similar in romans

He didn't say every gay union/wedding was a secret attack on chrisianity, he said the left would use the issue as a way to attack Christianity and heterosexual family life. Now I disagree that they are using it to attack Chrisianity but I do think they are using it to attack the right and try to win over more voters.

The band Wilco canceled their concert in Indiana because of this law. But they are performing in Missouri which has the same law....but the Missouri law was signed by a Dem governor.

Is "same" now the new "similar" ? Seems to me you havent actually checked the two laws.

someone on the five pointed that out today...eric bolling maybe. he also said NY governor Cuomo has forbidden all non-essential state governmental travel to Indiana---but then is himself going to cuba soon. figure that one out...

I dunno DC, I found the whole post rather enlightening.

In a way, it was enlightening--a stark, sad reminder that antigay bigotry endures, even in 2015.

I got that only to well DC, it is bizzare to think we are even needing to debate such issues in 2015.

No they suffer free market consequences. If they don't do business with someone, someone else will. The only person hurt is the businessman.

Wow, just a huge fucking wow. The stupidity of your argument is staggering, even by your low standards.

Do you really think people turned away from a store/bar/whatever just walk away and think.... "Gee thats just fine and dandy, I can go to the next bigot just up the road. Sooner or later someone will serve me".......... Well fuck that and fuck you.

Do I have to do the speech if I'm already wearing the T-shirt? That seems like overkill.

I love the phrase "sanctity of homosexuality"!

I have filed it right along side "sanctity of bullshit" DC....... sadly some folks will never get it.

You do know that this law is about a case by case basis, not a blanket refusal to serve an entire class of people, don't you?

See DC, "sanctity of bullshit"........ It seems a shopkeeper can refuse to serve all gays, case by case, and it isnt a blanket ban.

Its shit like this that makes me think UKIP are probably left wing.

They may but this has been Federal law for over 20 years, and they just now got upset because a medium sized state passes the same thing?

That is easy, Cuba is just a misunderstood socialist country and any state with a Republican governor is evil.

If you look at the messages I was responding to, you'll see I was actually talking--well, typing--about leftists who support same-sex marriage in general, not specifically about Indiana.

That said, you mention timing, which I've been wondering about. Given that, as you noted, the federal law is two decades old, what spurred Indiana to decide now that it needs this legislation? Is there a new threat that Hoosiers didn't face 20 years ago?

The responses of some of the ...unbelievers....come from not being able to see WHY the indiana law IS different.
To the point that two of pences colleagues have said they will amend/change it to include no discrimination
AND that Pence has said he wants a new bill
However
these are not seen by the unbelievers cos they have the people with the actual information on hide...
stomping around in the dark
Looks good on them

They apparently felt that the gay rights people were pushing. As you know this has the same relation to state law that the Federal law has to Federal laws in general. As you also know it takes quite a while to build to passing a law and outrage appears overnight. Look how long it took for the first state to recognize gay marriage. While it is reasonable to ask why now about the passage it is even more relevant to ask why no outrage the first 20 times this same law was passed by the Feds and various states. And why boycott one state with this law and not the other 19? The last question is easier to answer, if you boycott 20 states then it make it clear that it is politics, if you only boycott one you can pretend that it is something new and outrageous.
