Here is a link about overuse of enemas and the possible infection risks when altering the composition of natural balance of bacteria there... everything has risks and this is no exception.. education is the best way to good decision making
http://www.sexualhealthchannel.com/analhealth/index.shtml
Anal Health
Lubrication, cleanliness, and condoms reduce the chance of tearing and minimize the risk of transmitting disease during anal sex. The anus does not produce lubrication; it must be applied. Anal skin and tissue is likely to tear when it is dry, so lubrication is important before penetration. Lubricant should be water based or "condom or latex friendly," not oil based. Oil based lubricants destroy latex condoms.
Washing the anal region before and after anal sex reduces the amount of bacteria that could be spread from partner to partner, but may also remove some of the natural protection the body has to infection. Condoms can help prevent the spread of STDs when worn prior to any contact. Oral-to-anal contact is safest when using a dental dam, a flat, sheet like condom that provides a barrier between the mouth or fingers and the anus.
Overuse of enemas can destroy the normal, healthy balance of bacteria in the lower intestine.

(note my concern for having foriegn bacteria added while killing good bacteria with chlorine)

Dear lilstarsoul, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I will have to agree with many of the postings on the matters of anal cleaning.   For anybody who has done fisting, it really is a good idea to clean with an old fashioned enema bag with warm water and the mix of what you choose.  There are three rings per se in the anus and some are straight on and some off side.

Although the lass, lilstarsoul started the thread for her own gain of knowledge, I will add that I do appreciate when men clean themselves out for female dominants.  Unfortunately, men often miss the mark on such cleaning their anatomy even on the most basics of terms.

Having had men in scenes in different times/scenes; I have had some who didn't whip their hind parts and that really turned me off.  Having to send him to wipe his bottom as he had a hanging chad per se.  Another much the same thing, to which he fibbed when he said he cleaned himself out.  Waste products are no fun to deal with as a dominant.  So, this isn't an entirely female issue but, includes men as well.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

While I have never done an enema ...I have colonics once a year.....these work great and will also make you feel euphoric.....juicing the day before will insure a complete cleanse....I have never done anal myself....but if and when I do...I plan on doing my cleansing routine before...just a thought for a complete cleansing.....

Well most dont share these things with others. The colon is full of bacteria, thats what keep us regular and bad bacteria away. Hospitals use tap water and it isnt sterile water. Nothing about an enema is sterile.

Go to any adult book toy store and look for an anal douche bag. They hold as much water as the disposable fleet enemas, can be bleached, and are reusable. You should not use a standard size enema daily; your body becomes dependent on them to have a bowel movement. I have used this type for years.

You only need to insure the rectum which is where the actual penetration occurs is clean. This is also very useful for those of you who are expected to be ready for this kind of play 24/7 as they are relatively harmless and do not have that leftover water drainage that you get from a regular enema.
