It doesn't say that the money would come from Iran's frozen assets, and they are not "playing ball".

Yeah, forget your Google search. There is only one story. All of the reporting is based on a single piece published by the Wall Street Journal, which unfortunately is pay-walled. And despite your claim that the "signing bonus" would come from frozen Iranian funds, that is not entirely clear from the reporting. The U.S. has called for a staged relief from sanctions, based on compliance. Iran is demanding an immediate roll-back. If Iran is induced to accept the staged relief protocol, it's not clear how a $50 billion "signing bonus" could come from frozen Iranian funds without violating the staging agreement, since a "bonus" by definition is something over and above what is due. It's all somewhat murky, and the State Department has not been forthcoming.

But hey, who needs them when we have you. [:)]
