ORIGINAL: slvemike4u Not the way I read the tea leaves Hunter......but since turn around is fair play, allow me to handicap the Republican's issue with winning the Oval office. You guys are still letting the far right demand that your candidates move too far right in order to win the primaries. The sight of seven grown men raising their hands at the republican debates asserting that they believe in intelligent design rather than the science of evolution straight up is,to the middle mildly upsetting . The religious right demands that your candidate come out against a woman's right to choose what she will do with her own body. They further demand that the candidate assert that marriage is exclusively a contract that only a man and a woman may enter into, the Supreme's coming down in favor of gay rights will just highlight this issue this cycle . In short your primary pandering wins one of the seven (a guess) dwarfs the nomination while leaving him unable to appeal to the middle/undecided/independent in the general. Not without flip flopping on a whole host of issues once primary season is done....which of course would leave the base uninspired and likely to sit out. In other words dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. So once again a Democrat wins the Oval which should ensure that the left win the culture wars for the next generation cause elections have consequences and eight more years of Democratic control mean at least two more appointments to the bench It's a bitch being on the far rights, ain't it ? We'll have to agree to wait and see Mike. Yet, SCOTUS will have settled gay marriage issues soon, it's a states rights issue and not a federal one anyway. Remember Obama ran twice opposed to gay marriage because he thought that was better for him in the polls. He only changed his opinion after he didn't have to ever run for office again. Bill Clinton ran on, "It's the economy stupid." Hillary can't do that but all of the Republicans can. Debbie Wasserman Schults just got her butt kicked in a national argument on abortion and I'm not sure the polls run the way you think they do. Fioriana is going to come out slugging hermana a hermana against Hillary. She'll very likely end up a VP candidate on the ticket just so,she can handle that. The leftist news media is already asking Hillary for her positions and I think she thinks she can BS her way through that. I don't see it though if Dana Millbanks is already making noise. And lastly, the Rebulicans, as dumb as they mostly are, have finally figured out that when they let the leftist loony media be moderators at debates they're always going to look stupid, and intentionally so per the leftist press. Wait to see Hillary at a debate moderated bt Sean hannidy. Hunter for the sake of argument, lets concede the Hillary thing. Explain to me how the Republican candidate overcomes winning the nomination(by moving right) once the general season starts. How does he/she win the middle after contorting themselves to win the kerfuffle you folks call your nominating process ? Address those issues honestly and non partisanly The religious right drives your bus and costs you the general, and there is no getting around that. PS the Supremes will settle gay marriage rights and they aren't going to do that by kicking it back to the states. Creating another political football that your candidates are going to have to make pledges on that will cost them the middle. For the sake of discussion address these questions,I'm really interested in how you answer these conundrums
