Worse than KKKarl Roves weather machine targeting the poorest minorities in New Orleans

Worse than George W. Bush reading to little children during the 9/11 attacks that he personally planned and carried out with his Saudi Arabian lover - and then his directly aiding and abetting Bin Ladens escape in Afghanistan

Worse than Dick Cheney masterminding Abu Ghraib and the entire war-for-oil venture in Iraq then outing the best, most important deep undercover spy the CIA ever had who was about to bust him with the goods red-handed

Worse than a Saturday Night actress claiming that she could see Russia from her front porch, in a comedy skit

Worse even than Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter combined, practicing their rghts to free speech...

The Patriot Act

(Up until Obama signed its extension, anyway)

Anyone remember it?

Well, Rand Paul wants to repeal it, and reign in the NSA.

WHO IS WITH HIM???

Rand Paul's lonely NSA filibuster

(I kinda doubt that hardly anyone on the left is)

I thought that it expired soon. I was hoping for a "do-nothing congress" in regards to it.

He doesnt want to repeal it, he wants the provision to die. He, for all his buffoonery is not alone. It is grandstanding at its typical rabid rightwing worst.

Grandstanding...

Are you arguing that those "buffoons" who are against the Patriot Act, are supposed to just shut up?

Are you only behind the Patriot Act now, since Obama literally signed on to it, or have you always been in favor of it.

Ok, so some of the Patriot Act is set to sunset in June, unless Congress reauthorizes it.

Is there actually a bill to repeal any of it? I haven't seen one.

Probably time to let Sections 206 and 215 end. But 6001 needs to be updated & extended.

He didnt make it to the full time to declare a filibuster, was 12 minutes short.
By the way, there are lots of lefties who agree with him not about reauthorising certain parts, but dont let the facts get in your way of a good rant.

You are the buffoon who championed the patriot act, are you arguing (a very good argument) that you are buffoon?

Buffoon is your word, describing someone who is taking a "grandstand" against the Patriot Act

I never wanted the fuckin' thing, in the first place.

I think it's in sec. XVIII where a case could be made that a drunk driver is a terrorist and everyone is a terrorist until they prove otherwise.

How does one prove a negative?

A lot of people didnt want it, left right and center. The left was vehemently opposed, talked like they were giving birth to full grown RINOs when they described how bad the Republicans were for passing it, and Bush for signing it

Right up until the day Obama signed it

Now all you hear is crickets from that side. But those in the middle and those on the right who always opposed it still oppose it

Its all about consistency and convenience., and a whole lot of Alinsky

the alinsky book is something the tea fucksticks are using as their manifesto. So, completely agree that the tea fucksticks and rabid right are crickets.

More Alinsky.

After a certain point it loses its efficacy

That's why you are where you are today, as an individual, a party and a principle.

Yep. I remember Barry O running on how he was going to "fix" The EX-Patriot Act.

The PPLs touted it. He was the chosen one; the second coming.

Then, Uncle Barry decided that "fix" equated to "expand".

Once again, here come the PPLs, claiming that dear leader had to do that to "keep us safe".

I remember it, all too well ... the moving goal posts of leftist morality and patriotism.

last night, dana perino (major crush!) pointed out she was in disagreement with rand paul and made a similar point to sanity above. she talked about how Obama ran on closing gitmo, closing gitmo, closing gitmo, and then when he got into office, probably figured out it was a right thing to not close gitmo.

she suggested that within a week of being president, rand paul would likely find himself in want of all the intelligence he could have so as to make the best decisions possible to keep America safe.

I don't know that what rand paul wants and what dana perino (sigh) was saying are mutually exclusive, but at the very least, intimately discussing the patriot act in congress and possibly doing some amending certainly seems warranted.

You guys don't live in actual reality do you? Immediate executive order closing the gitmo program, immediate passage of a law forbidding monies to do so. He is still trying to get it done today, hired a lawyer whose only job is to try to close the program.

Lay off the shitbreather sites, and check in with the real world, occasionally.

Real things are actually happening out here. It is called history, and fact.

Your memory is extremely faulty and out of context.

As much as I wanted and still want Gitmo closed, I recognize that Barry O's (and Dana's [I'll take Arthell, by the way]) reason for not closing Gitmo might be valid.

That said, there's no way, in God's great creation that expanding the Patriot act the way Barry O did was called for. When he was elected, because we knew almost nothing about him, my first thought was: Maybe he'll surprise us and actually do some of the things he said he was going to do.

In the case of Gitmo and the Patriot Act, he didn't. Unfortunately, when it comes to a lot of other things, he did.
