ORIGINAL: BitaTruble quote:
On the surface the work in the sun nude et al does appear to be foolish and downright dangerous. I suppose such remarks must always be followed by the standard Disclaimer of safety and precautions. However, reading it with the mindset of safe, sane and consentual practices, I thought it was clever. I'm curious. You said 'on the surface' is appears to be foolish. Can you expand a bit on how you would apply SSC to this situation to show those who are new that it's not foolish? SSC in this situation: Pre-hydration, Adequate SPF sunblock, Chained using a Quick Release Snap Lock (even quicker to release than cutting a rope) Warm water hydrates just as well as cold water, and has less potential for causing stomach cramps that cold can. Yard work done essentially nude, allows perspiration on the body to evaporate more quickly and efficiently than when wearing many articles of clothing, thus your body is cooled more efficiently, One need not work for hours on end in any activity without taking adequate breaks in either the shade, or a cooled area. mow her yard, trim bushes, pick weeds while wearing a thong, 110 degree heat, chained down with a dog lead (not even a rope which could be cut through quickly if need be) .. and just to be nice, a steel dog dish placed in the sun to warm the water. That's the premise which she presented without any disclaimer. I call it irresponsible, you call it clever. I added a link (and could have added 10 more because there is a lot of information out there regarding heat stroke) .. and I'm curious as to why you think it's clever. I personally think it's clever, because it is creating a scenario that again, "on the surface" seems like cruel, harsh and inescapable (thus the feeling of helplessness and usery) but that a responsible Dominant could easily have well-in hand. As a Dominant, I believe it is My place to ensure that whatever I use My subs for, I always keep them in safe working order..so that I have them as toys to play with another time. Much of the planning for a scene is basic common sense and health precautions. Which is why I made the remark "I suppose such remarks must always be followed by the Standard Disclaimer of safety and precautions. However reading it with the mindset of safe, sane consentual practices, I thought it was clever." Oh, the other thing, the person who posted that is not a dominant. She's a self-proclaimed Gorean kajira, BDSM slave and I took that knowledge into consideration as well .. obviously inexperienced in any role as dominant and lets just say that I take all her words with a hefty dose of salt. Generally she is just ignored as I would ignore a foolish child, but I made an exception in this case because she did not add a disclaimer for those who are new, lurking and may be uninformed. I wonder why you think that because she is a "self-proclaimed Gorean kajira, BDSM slave" she was "obviously inexperienced in any role as a dominant? I cannot find the original post to go back and read her profile to see if she indicates she has no experience either being one, or being educated by one or not. So I must take your word for it that she has no experience. In addition, as I recall, I felt the post had a bit of "tongue in cheek" flavor to it...but I may have been mistaken. I suppose "<insert Standard Precaution Clause>" should be a part of most, if not all posts, so that the inexperienced, and uninformed cannot claim misguidance...but I tend to prefer to allow individuals to be responsible for their own choices and actions. [:)] MMNH (there's no special significance to this last part not being in the same font face-I've tried several times to adjust it..but it just stays the same) Celeste P.S. I don't embrace SSC myself, but as you do and used it as the mindset with which you read the post, that is the perspective that I am looking for here. Thanks in advance.
