Speaking of who we would genuinely miss, has anyone heard from ChatteParfaitt? She stopped posting here last year during the debacle, hasn't come back and hasn't shown up on Fet either.

I think the fact that so many people are reaching out to the boards complaining about the issues is an indication that they care, and therefore, there's still hope for the site.

Even if they're lashing out because the gravy train of free tail has run dry, they're still trying to cling to that train hoping it'll get back on the right track.

Even if they don't like the direction of the forums, they're still here, posting on any non-political thread they can.

When people stop complaining about the site's issues, then I'll be worried.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Is the old gal dying? (7/8/2015 6:18:40 PM)

I agree that it's time to worry when people don't have any concerns about the site anymore. It was our user feedback that had a lot to do with making the site what it is today.

When the site first started, for Orientation in your profile you had 3 choices, "Switches", "Submissive" or 'Dominant". Now there are also "slaves".
They didn't even have a Seeking menu option in 2004 - LINK to site copy from 2004

There may have only been 3 menu choices (Profiles, Forums, Games) but at least you could play Donkey Kong!! (LINK)

Wait, I missed out on the Donkey Kong days? Dammit!

Without reading past NG's post of 6/14 on page 2, I can say I agree with him. (I shall continue reading and see if that changes LOL)

What I don't understand is, if you hate the site, why bother with it?

Personally, I came back for a thread about a member who was/is ill. I thought it was the least I could do.

But, while I'm here...

Are these forums what they used to be? Oh HELL no! Do y'all remember good threads? The ones that went on for 30-40 pages and had content? Hmmm. The General BDSM discussion board SUCKS. Wanna get hits? Start a findomme or scammer thread. When is the last rope thread this site had? Needles? Whips? Electric play? Sensory Dep?

Where is the activity now? General BDSM? Nope. Positive Experiences? Not there. Upcoming Events? Laughable.

At least 80% are coming from P&R. Even Reddit doesn't rely on that.

You wanna fix this? Might want to give the old gal CPR.

I so miss you!

As I miss you.

sexyred1 -> RE: Is the old gal dying? (7/17/2015 12:33:01 AM)

This site is a shadow of its former self. Just boring threads. Too many fun posters left.

What hasn't changed are the truly screwed up people on the profile side. It's worse than ever.

ownedslavejulia -> RE: Is the old gal dying? (7/17/2015 2:21:28 AM)

Unfortunately, the site has gone back to how it was a month ago and it seems that the techs did some sort of rollback as 8 hours worth of PM's are missing from many peoples inboxes plus clicking on "sent items" just causes a 404.

Gauge -> RE: Is the old gal dying? (7/18/2015 1:32:25 AM)

I'm still here...

Right now real life is throwing punches that I cannot dodge and that is why I have kind of vanished.

The access problems are tedious though, however I have not been on much at all so I cannot say if they have improved or not.

JVoV -> RE: Is the old gal dying? (7/18/2015 3:44:58 AM)

I think there's more to it than just the site changing.

The whole internet has changed drastically in just the last few years. Every dating or social media site has a phone app, able to pull in new users regularly because of their existing membership.

As for the politics... Even as a newer member, I can see who started a thread and brace myself for the inevitable groans to follow if I venture in.

I'm waiting for the "Was leaving Eden a good idea" thread. I'm already preparing a post about squatter's rights, just in case.

I missed seeing you. I hope everything is alright.

Believe me, I empathize about those life punches.

You are preparing posts ahead of time, in anticipation of a thread that some numbnut will eventually (granted, I wouldn't be surprised if you are right about that) start?

You are falling down the rabbit hole dude, straight into their little tea party.

Need a lifeline?

I had been on here just long enough to figure out who to ignore, who might have something somewhat intelligent to say, and who consistently posted interesting posts that were always worth a read. You were of the last group, and your posts have been missed. Good luck with those punches that you can't dodge. Hope to read more from you.

Probably.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Is the old gal dying? (7/27/2015 1:20:03 PM)

I notice that CollarChat attendance is dropping... it will probably slump for a while and bounce back later like it did during the collarme/collarspce change over.

I see they removed the pic grid options as a work around for the pic display glitch while they work on it. I wonder if Mod3 knows whether they plan to bring back the pic grid or not?

I imagine they will eventually even get around to fixing the pic uploads on this side. I imagine our maintenance is last on the priority list because more than 75% of the traffic is on the other side.

By old gal I mean Collarme . . . Collarspace . . . whatever.

We seem to have come a long way from the glory days when there were several lively debates - debates of wit and profundity argued by intelligent and interesting personalities - going on at the same time. Now, after the civil war and the attempted coup, the steam seems to have gone out of the site. Most threads are of the liberals are stupid/conservatives are stupid variety. Participation is way down. The powers that be can't seem to fix the photo uploading problem - or perhaps they can't be bothered. I get a ' the best lack all conviction, the worst are filled with passionate intensity' vibe every time I'm on.

So . . .

Is the old gal winding down toward extinction?

Is a renaissance, a rebounding, of the site possible?

What would it take to turn things around?

In 1976, the average size of a single family home was 1,477 sf.

In 1977 it was 1,620 sf.

By 1981 it was 1,481 sf.

Today....2,486 sf.

Internet devices have grown/floundered/grown again and....some social devices have floundered.

This one may die out. Others may take control.

In the end, we will be the persons that make or break this device.

There are others.

Wow it looks like I missed all the excitement. Damn college!

StaceyRaven -> RE: Is the old gal dying? (8/5/2015 4:14:01 PM)

Back in high school I took a peek at this site. Even opened a profile which is probably still here but I can't remember it's name. After I got over the shock of 65446788876 men sending me messages despite my profile having no pictures (I was 15) I remember thinking this site was terribly laid out. The profile section was (and still is) designed terribly and it's cluttered looking.
So I'm back (and legal this time) and the sites still looks the same. This place hasn't evolved, hasn't updated, hasn't improved. I'm not trying to be critical or insulting I'm just saying maybe part of the reason it's dying is because it looks old. The main competition site has a much cleaner lay out although less features.

Anyway, that's the outside view of CS from someone who doesn't know anything about this site past politics and troubles.

Being a designer, I even made modernized mock up version (screenshot) of the site with tabbed menus, live video profile feed instead of pics, as well as marketing ideas like contests with prizes etc. But this site is laid out in classic BBS style... which is still a very goog way to navigate through the HUGE amount of content here. Form follows function. Artwork takes up bandwidth and slows a site down. I am pretty sure the owner knows that the design of this site is not its appeal, its the function and content. Which the site delivers w/o bells or whistles and navigates you where you want to go in the quickest manner, fetching the content you seek in the fastest manner. Think of it as classic or old school Geek style forums.
