God I've got to throw my opinion in on this one. It massively varies. Amongst exs one Mistress who'd lost everything through a gambling ex (she has two ancestors who are ex-prime ministers and even more illustrious family). One who worked a reasonably successful job and was a Mistress two days a week. One who did it to raise her kids and another one who did it because a) she didn't really have any other options and b) it was sort of in her blood. I have to admit though that after dating four pro-dommes on an equal basis none of them were affluent or successful in the real world. That's not what matters though to the subs or to them. It's the fantasy situation where you give yourself up to someone or have someone given to you as an object. As a profession it should be the passport to financial success but it doesn't seem to be. Let's take a ball park figure of 50K per year and often not declared. It still doesn't seem to translate into what it should be and a fair number of Mistresses need the money to survive day on day. Subs who don't turn up, ask for freebies or discounts or expect to just chat and socialise aught to be aware of that.

How common is it that people don't show up for more serious dominants of either sex? It seems to be a topic raised at various places but does it really differ from any other dates?

Having done my fair share of online dating, I would guess that it doesn't differ in terms of likelihood to happen. Though I may interact more with people on vanilla sites, and make more dates with people, the 'flakiness factor' is still present enough that more dates fall through than actually come to fruition.

People flaking out, is ridiculously common. I'd say especially male subs, but I've only my meager experience and the common complaint of dominant women I've known. I haven't heard of any male dominants complaining of being stood up so I can't speak to it.

My Experience regarding dominant women is their incomes are basically the same as you'd find in sampling of any group. Most were in the middle class range with a few in either extreme of wealth and poverty. Most of the kinky people in general at events and clubs I've been to seemed to fall in the middle class to slightly lower than middle class depending on what you'd classify as median wages.

@OP It's not necessarily that they are "financially strapped." All of these sites attract the pros. It's free advertising and free fetish advertising always attracts those looking to maximize their earning potential.

All I can say is wow. I am new to this site. and I was just looking around the when i stumbled upon this thread. I have read every last post. Some opinions i might not agree with but to each their own. others i have found inspiring and aspirational. I just had to say that first. Now my opinion on the topic of this thread, no not all dominant women poor or prostitutes. This is just my opinion but the overall tone i perceived from the original post was disrespectful to women in general not just to Dommes, pro or otherwise. And lacking in understanding of bdsm and a willful ignorance of the realities of dating sites/online personals. Unfortunately, both men and women, have to be skeptical and aware of the profiles that are out there. Some are real people with real pics and not just avatars and screennames. And others are well are bots, cam girls, phishing sites, middle age men from Africa. Be smart and if they seem to good to be true, they are probably fake or a scammer. And seriously, to all you guys complaining about the the pros aka hos they wouldn't be on all of these sites if men did not exchange money for sex.

To answer the OP question, in my opinion, no, I don't think dominant woman are usually poor. Just because someone asks for money for their services doesn't mean they are poor, either. Labeling any kind of dominant fetish as a service doesn't make them any less genuine nor should it qualify them to be labeled as poor. Many women, myself included, love this industry so much that it is also a (or even the) source of our income. A lot of thought and passion goes into our work. Just because we love it too does not mean that it should be free. Rather, by it not being free, we are able to continue producing and providing great services and content. As well, the number of seemingly submissive men greatly outnumber the quantity of dominant women. Navigating through all of the messages and inquiries we get can be a very daunting, time consuming task. In many cases, possibly most cases, it's easier to weed out someone who is serious by requiring some kind of tribute up front. However, of course, there are so many different dommes and each may run their business and/or life separately - all of which should be respected, even if it's not what you agree with or personally look for.

As briefly mentioned in this thread, I do feel like a lot of people may try out some kind of dominant fetish to make money. Most likely, they will try findom (and I personally find it a shame that this fetish is receiving such a bad reputation, as a result. It is a legitimate fetish that deserves respect, just like all of the others). However, in my opinion, these types of girls will not last long in the industry. It seems to me that if a girl really isn't into being dominant, findom or not, it's only a matter of time before she will likely burn out and abandon ship.

No, not all women that are dominant are poor, I live an average life, honestly, I am a financial dominatrix, I specialize in many fetishes, and just like there are guys like yourself, there are also guys who like to pay to play, and we are talking MONEY here. I do charge, but only as an initial tribute, there are Alot of time wasters out there that I feel as if no one know how to respect findoms. To answer the question ...

i myself have dated Dominant Ladies who range from Corporate Executive, to External Sales Ladies to CPA's who own there own Accounting Firm.

There are many highly successful, capable and competent Women; who are also Dominant in their personal life.

Sure they are hard to find ... but they DO EXIST!
