This would include virtually every war we have been in.

How would it work if the West Germans had a coup and chucked out their legally elected president and chose to become bff with Russia/Soviet Union. What would be the reaction of the U.S. which is heavily invested there?

My father used to say "that one should never try to teach a pig to sing. Not only is it a waste of your time but it annoys the pig". This is not to say that your friend is a pig but rather that he is not interested in your gramarian efforts.
