"This was over a little bit of marijuana. You don't kill people for marijuana," said Hammond's mother, Angie Hammond, today. "They make mistakes but, you can't just kill them for it. ... I would like the officer charged with murder." A police lieutenant said he shot Zachary Hammond because he felt threatened as the teen drove up, the AP said. An autopsy commissioned by the family shows that Zachary Hammond was shot twice –- to the back of his shoulder and his side. The Hammonds said that they believed there was dashcam video and that they would like it to be released. This time it's a white kid, and a white family grieving and demanding answers. If a kid is driving towards you, how do you shoot him in the back of the shoulder?

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS fucking ALWAYS demand a JURY TRIAL even for a traffic ticket. Little known fact, because the last thing a criminal gubmint wants you to know is how to fight back, BUT Jurys have the power to judge BOTH facts AND the LAW.

If a kid is driving towards you, how do you shoot him in the back of the shoulder? He drives at the cops, one sidesteps and fires as he goes by. This explains how he was hit in BOTH the side and back of the shoulder. You have the parents statement. Remember that Harris' parents (in Ferguson) swore that he was unarmed until tape proved otherwise. Maybe we should get more evidence than a grieving mother who will believe anything that makes her kid the victim. What possible point is there to making a deal of the kid being white. If it was a good shooting it doesn't matter if he was purple. If it was a bad shooting it doesn't matter if he was purple.

Cops in many cases throw themselves in front of a moving car of someone trying to escape then charge them with attempted murder. I would argue the cop was trying to commit suicide or create a condition he could open fire where he would not have otherwise been in danger. so the kid drove 'at' the cops, and for real tried to mow them down or simply in their general direction in an attempt to escape arrest?

It matters that Zachary Hammond was white because there can be no accusations of 'race baiting'. It matters that Zachary Hammond was white in regards to each and every step of the investigation, and how it compares to the investigations of black youths killed by police. It matters that Zachary Hammond was white because this isn't just something that happens to "those people". It's a reality that we all have to confront, regardless of color, religion, sexuality, or anything else that may define us.

The difference is that no matter the outcome there will be no riot. It is something that happens to "those people" who try to run cops down with their car black white or purple. Wait for the evidence before you get out the tar and feathers. But this is a great one for you. If the cops are proved right you can rant about the cops getting away with murder. If the cops are proved wrong you can pretend that it was only because the kid was white.

Fr~ I have to wonder if the guy drove at the cop who was in front of the car, you would assume the cop then jumped out of the way or sidestepped. After doing that the car would not have been a threat to the cop any longer, but how do sidestep and then still have the ability to shoot the guy in the side and shoulder? The story I read says it was through the window. But The truth will roll out eventually.

It is something that happens to people who "allegedly" try to run cops down with their car. Fixed that for you. I don't know about you, but if I'm at the burger joint and I'm approached by people with guns and I don't see police lights or uniforms, I'd be trying to get the hell up outta there too. If I didn't have my hand on my pistol first.

Shooting out the tires is a movie ploy, you would be surprised how many bullets will just bounce off of a spinning tire. So if they are driving a car at a cop he should run and hide and let them go. If they are waving a gun shouldn't the same rule apply? Or a knife, or a club. Why should they get special treatment if their weapon of choice is a car?

The cops, at worst only allegedly approached him without giving a clue. there fixed it for you. BTW what little actual evidence you have given us supports the idea that he was driving at the cops. Now are you claiming to be a mind reader and know what the cops thought his intentions were. Do you expect them to be mind readers to know what he was thinking?
