ShaharThorne -> Getting too old... (8/15/2015 9:49:03 AM)

2 more years til I hit the big 50. I am already showing signs of getting old.

Snap, crackle and pop getting out of bed AND any chair (or deep couch cushions).

Deafness (I am teaching myself ASL)

Bed before 10pm but up about 3 or 4 am. Naps are essential, especially in this heat.

Taking several pills to function (3 for bipolar, 1 for HBP, 1 for cholesterol, speed aid (which does not work) 3 for IBS attacks and 1 for the hypothyroidism.

Had to have a doctor cut out an ingrown toenail..resulting into a lovely case of cellulitis. 4 days in the hospital with IV antibiotics...and big omelets for breakfast.

I can't stand up for about 10 minutes at a time, let alone walk around Wal-mart.

Had several nerve burnings so I won't hurt so much (a good way to moon your PM doctor).

I am overdue for my mammogram.

I am also losing my teeth. The plan is to extract 2 teeth per session until they are all gone and then got to a specialist for a cheap set (I got insurance and a Care Credit account now).

The kiddos run roughshod over me...and they are my brother's kids. They think that they get free rein over the computer. Not if I have it password protected...

This just makes me want to scream my head off.

Just don't ask me to kneel down...I would not get up unless you got chocolate fudge brownie ice cream. Also, can't afford to have a partner...most of the time they are trannies and want my clothes (which the good stuff was taken by my last relationship).

Damn...even my fingers are popping every few minutes.

Now to see if the cat is behind the fridge...where is my walker?

There's always charity 'round the corner. Someone will come and turn you over when you have bedsores!

FR

I think of the past few years as a taste of old age, and I'm ready to spit it out.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Getting too old... (8/15/2015 1:13:34 PM)

I agree DC! Finally finished the latest rounds of antibiotics for the cellulitis and Mom wants me to stay off my feet. Can't find the cat now (she got out of the corner while I was outside). I even got her favorite pillow pet out for her to snuggle up to.

Sanity -> RE: Getting too old... (8/15/2015 2:47:28 PM)

Damn

Im 52 and just finished a three hour workout (posting from my gym on occasion). Had to climb a tall steep hill out in the desert around a week ago looking for a cell phone signal and I did it handily in a matter of minutes. I wrestle steers that are over a thousand pounds onto trailers as needed, rope and take care of the calves on up to that size on a regular basis. Not like I am twenty, but not bad...

Very recently had a beautiful, smart, incredibly sexy early 20's girl barking up my tree, almost caused a stir between my girl and I. I get a lot of looks, still greatly enjoy regular sex. I am on one pill for slightly elevated blood pressure and watch my salt, but can generally eat whatever I want

And I lived a hard life when I was younger. Smoked, drank, carried on excessively in most every way imaginable, though I have always exercised and taken my vitamins

Sure, I notice my age some, and on some days more than others, but nothing like your problems. So, I dont think its the age alone thats got you

Just sayin'

The cat is hiding under my bed...

Took me a siesta so I can play my MMORPG tonight and suddenly, there was a tuck at the blanket on my foot. A couple more tucks to make sure I was right.

How the hell did she fit UNDER the door????

Aw well...if she wants to deal with my sleeping arse...I snore like crazy anyway...

ResidentSadist -> RE: Getting too old... (8/15/2015 11:02:23 PM)

I agree that getting old is not for the weak. I noticed that the older I get, I seem to drop roots if I sit too long. Standing up is like pulling up shrubbery.

My dad was (RIP) doctor and when it came to aging, he basically said use it or lose it. Gotta' keep up your exercise. I hate exercise, it interferes with napping!

Good luck with the cat.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Getting too old... (8/16/2015 12:35:11 AM)

I got really nervous, when "thirty" was looming.

The truth is; I've noticed a slow downward progression since then.

I should say that I left the Army, when I was 33½ years old.

I lost my fingers, when I was almost 35, causing PTSD which means that for 16 years, I have dealt with sleep deprivation (I sleep 1½ - 3 hours per 24). In fairness; my average sleep has increased to about four hours, since I got my puppy.

I played two years of semi-pro baseball and football. I was airborne for almost 5 years, while I was in the Army. As a result, my knees are shot.

Four years ago, I had an infection in my teeth that worked its way to my heart and my doctors say I was about six months away from a nice little heart attack. As I result, I don't have a tooth in my head.

3½ years ago, I was diagnosed with a degenerative condition (both physical and mental) that will, eventually kill me.

Last year, my doctors decided that I was misdiagnosed and the prognosis is even worse than the previous one.

My best advice? Noli nothis permittere te terere.

Michael

I love this, RS. Standing up is like pulling up shrubbery! Mind if I use it?

There is a cat somewhere in this house!

She can't get into Mom's room. I had Mom seal that sucker up. I did feel her tucking on my blanket yesterday but when I look, nothing there (unless she disguise herself as a pair of Longhorn flip flops).

Just now I hear rustling near the sleeper sofa. I pulled the fridge out more in case I accidentally trapped her there.

She is missing my niece so much. Baby M is such a sweetie when it comes to cats (she helped me out socializing the 2 litters of kittens recently).

Got to clean house tomorrow and get my new modem on Tuesday. Everyone will be back Wednesday.

Oh, I finally got more than 10 hours of sleep last night.

New problem...left shoulder...can't tell if it is arthritis or a bad rotrater(?) cuff (I did injured it back in 09 and had to do PT for it). I use my left arm for dang near everything.

(Note to self: All complaints can be used for Aunty Acid quotes...) *tongue in cheek for humor*

Getting old sucks.
I can only fuck 4, 5 times a night now.
Why once I could only get it up thrice, and that last one took effort.
I mean fuck, if a Man can't fill all His slaves holes in a session, what's the point in trying.

And I'm developing whippers elbow.
Grins
On the flip side though, I'm better off than her and her nasty case of Athletes Tongue :-)

When Gary and I met he was a spry 64 and I was 54. We made like bunnies for several years. Then the medical problems associated with transplants started to make themselves known. The drugs that are keeping him alive are slowly killing him. We don't make like bunnies anymore, but the desire is still there. We still have our times.

We're getting too old to do many things we used to do. Needle play is now out as his hands shake way too much. Suturing is out. He doesn't have the energy for flogging very often or for very long. However, he still can make me blush by just looking at me in a certain way or saying certain words. Heck he made me blush telling me what he's going to do to me today.

Does this all bother us? No, not really. We enjoy what we can do and don't worry about those things we can't do any longer. It's all a part of life.

Today I got him out of the nursing facility and brought him home. He broke his hip 2 weeks ago. Complications kept him in the hospital and nursing facility way too long, but he's home now. It's not as easy to take care of him as it used to be for me. I have my own health issues, but we make due. Together we can do anything. The important part of all this is that he's home. He's not living in a nursing facility. He's home where he's happy, where I'm happy to have him. I have someone to cuddle with at night.

This dying shit sucks. More than a few times I've sat beside his bed, knowing that he wouldn't make it through another night. He's like the Energizer bunny. He keeps going, and going, and going. So far it's not been his time.

Gary is 74 now. When he got his single lung transplant the docs gave him 3-5 years. The average lifespan of a single lung transplant is 4.6 years. He's at 14 years, 1 month. I met him on his 4 year transplant anniversary. He told me he had a year to go and did I want to spend it with him. It's been 10 years now. Wow.

Yep, we're getting too old. The good part is that we are enjoying getting older.

Mom's going to be home Wednesday from Florida (a brother has a home there). MAYBE we can get Casey to come out (she misses her human minions and distrust me)...even the tuna is not bringing this cat out of whatever hole she is hiding in.

Pepper, I know how you feel and kudos for having the strength for the both of y'all. I was once told that I would be confined to a wheelchair when I was having a rather nasty fibro attack. I made myself to get out of the chair and with a friend's help walk around my apartment. Luckily I am in remission at this time and I am living with my Mom now, getting the treatment necessary for bipolar and fibro. Its still kinda hard to walk very far and I can only stand up for about 10 to 15 minutes before I have to sit back down (I hate doing dishes but I do them anyway). This bout of cellulitis almost knock me for a loop but it did catch my attention and I got a doctor's appt for a wellness check on the 24th.

Meanwhile, I got to work on this afghan if I want to enter it into the fair this year. Will provide pics later.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Getting too old... (8/19/2015 7:53:31 AM)

This cat is driving me crazy (or even more crazier if that is possible...). I have been hearing little noises in the area of the couch for the past few days. Now I got the cushions out, the board out and some of the bed out. Sure enough, she was hiding there, giving me the look of "How DARE you disturb me!". Got her some tuna and am just leaving her alone. Called my SIL up and told her that the rascal has been found.

Now back to our normal programming, already in progress...and Mom is in Mississippi on her way home.
