Pepper, I know how you feel and kudos for having the strength for the both of y'all. I was once told that I would be confined to a wheelchair when I was having a rather nasty fibro attack. I made myself to get out of the chair and with a friend's help walk around my apartment.

You are so like Gary. He just won't give up. He pushes himself. When he was in the hospital last week and wasn't allowed out of bed, he did leg exercises to get himself stronger. His niece asked him a couple months ago what he thinks has kept him alive well past what was predicted. He just said "I'm not ready to die".

Bravo, Gary! That's probably better than my approach: ignoring the docs and getting up anyway.

He's been known to do that too, dc. However, having a broken hip meant that he needed assistance in getting in and out of bed so he was stuck until he was allowed out.

Well, everyone made it home safely. Casey is now out of my hair and couch, Mom just mention to me that while she was in Florida, she did not sneeze or cough so she wants to get a vacuum with a hose and clean out the HVAC unit of dust...I just want a good one that actually picks up stuff (she has these 2 wimpy ones that don't do a damn thing).

Mom got me this little shot glass with my real name on it. Now all I need is some alcohol and I will be happy...

Age is what you make of it. As I am getting older I find I can't do what I could before but I adapt and find other ways to get it done. the saying you are only as old as you think is very true. I try to keep a upbeat attitude about life and always keep going foward

I agree that getting old is not for the weak. I noticed that the older I get, I seem to drop roots if I sit too long. Standing up is like pulling up shrubbery.

I love this, RS. Standing up is like pulling up shrubbery! Mind if I use it?

Of course you can. I am just glad I am not the only that feels like standing up is equivalent to being uprooted sometimes.

When ever I stand up I always wonder why it is always farther up than down.

I pulled my back out yesterday. Advil round the clock and my theraband exercises did nothing. We went up to Walmart and bought a back belt, aspercream, heating pad and a tens unit. I think he has plans for the last that do not involve my back.

On getting old - my favorite line from Wallace Steven's "Sunday Morning":

Death is the mother of beauty; hence from her,
Alone, shall come fulfilment to our dreams
And our desires.

After 40, we don't bounce, anymore...no matter how much padding we put on. This saying, brought to you by Experience. "Experience: What you ignored in others, when you were younger and, now, maybe, wish you didn't have so much of..."
