Actually I didn't say that. Never have. But if there are multiple counts including a felony and a misdemeanor then enfooce both. It is the law.

You claim to be a fiscal conservative. The employers are felons and the fines are huge...a quarter million dollars per illegal and prison forever. If they are prosecuted no one will hire an illegal alien. The illegals will go back by themselves. Yet you say no let's spend the money to prosecute 15 million misdemeanors. Why?

KenDckey -> RE: Cost of Illegal Immigration (8/30/2015 2:15:11 PM)

because it is the law. don't like the law, change it. if you can't work on changing it and enforce it in the mean time.

Could someone tell me why it won't cost anything to jail employeers?

Perhaps because the fines are a quarter million dollars per illegal.
If it is proved that this is an "ongoing criminal conspiracy" RICCO siezes their business and all of their personal and coprorate assets.

Could someone tell me what the cost would be for shutting down those businesses.

I would imagine that Costco would be out in front at the government auction of Sam's/Wallmart...or vice versa. What person in business would not benifit by having one or more of their major competitors out of the picture and their assetts up for sale at "fire sale" prices.

I still think they should enforce the law against hiring illegals.

That is exactly what we are talking about. If we consider the numbers (15 million illegals x $250k + assett forfeiture=black ink at the treasury department. Which could lead to lower taxes or a tax rebate. A few years the state sent me a check for a hundred dollars for each motor veicle I had registered because of a surplus in the treasury. Yes I would be the first to agree it is a rarity but that did not slow me down cashing the checks. Oh yes there would be...15 million "shovel ready" jobs for citizens.

quote:

Would it be ok if the illegals were white instead of brown, he seems to think that makes it a problem.

Since the issue is with the 15 million brown illegal aliens I do not see the relevance of your statement. I have no issue with open immigration, (not to be confused with open boarders) therefore I have no issue with the color of the individual.

because it is the law.

If law enforcement has only enough resources to enforce one of the two laws which would you like them to enforce?

don't like the law, change it.

I have no issues with the law being a misdemeanor.

Hello all,

Correct me if I am wrong, but gaining permanent residence in the USA for an average person who has no family in the USA (like most Europeans like me for instance), is impossible.

The only three ways I see to gain permanent residence for people with no family in USA:
1. Win green card lottery (unlikely)
2. Marry an American citizen (Fraudulent and illegal, not an option for most sane people)
3. Get sponsored by an American employer (H1B) : Almost impossible if you are not some kind of genius with a skill that cannot be replicated by any american citizen. Even then its hard and might take years, not to forget convincing the company to spend thousands of dollars doing the lengthy process while they could save tons of $$$ simply employing an American. Oh and the fact the economy is such even Americans dont get jobs so why the hell would a US company go through the trouble of hiring some foreigner ?

My former and continuing (part time partner) now has his green card, his wife does too and they didn't enter a lottery. Took years and perseverance.

2. Marry an American citizen (Fraudulent and illegal, not an option for most sane people)

A friend married a foreign national and she now works for the US Post office oh, and has a green card to boot.

That happens many 1000's of times as employers are well advised to sponsor those who do in fact qualify. So it is not almost impossible and you don't need to be any kind of genius.

You have many interesting thoughts here Real. This was not one of them.

You are mistaken. Tell me what restrictions are put on a European tourist. One gets a visa and gets on an airplane and comes here and goes (pretty much)where they choose when they get here.
I realize this does not allow you to work or become a citizen but it does allow you to network with potential employers or love interests.
Just for fun check up on what it takes for a Mexican citizen to get a tourist visa.
