The person whom refuses to do her job in government.

Where are all the calls from conservatives and libertarians that this woman should be removed for not following the law?

There are many upon many instances in which they have done so, when they believed President Obama and Democrats were not following the law. Where is all that fury and anger over this lady not following the law? Enough to have the courts re-intervene to jail her for not doing her duty?

This lady's religious freedom ends when it comes to government work. As I understand it, this position is elected rather than appointed or hired. Which is to say this person believed they could do the job well enough in the first place. Since that time to the present, it seems she lied on the application somewhere.

Here is something that is not being discussed anywhere: How is her behavior and religious viewpoints effecting those whom are on edge of 'tossing Christianity' out of their lives all together? That this person is creating more motivation by individuals to leave the religion rather than stay?

Why should a good person, whom is christian having no problems with LGBT folks marrying; wish to be associated with this lady? Since it seems more and more 'Christianity = Sword for issuing out hatred and a shield for protecting from the consequences'. This person and others, through their vile actions (or in-actions) seem to be a motivating factor in people leaving the religion all together.

The more one's politics are conservatives, while being religiously christian; seems to believe they have a protection somewhere within the US Constitution that allows them to be a dick or asshole towards all other people. And finding just the opposite seems to exist. To which they say they are victims when years and decades before, they thought it was 'OK' to be a dick or asshole towards people. What has changed from then and now? I think one element is that people are less fearful of the people using the religion as a vehicle to mask their hatred and intolerance. That it can be shown to a greater number of US Citizens, whom in turn show evidence from their history of pseudo-christians masquerading around as actual Christians.

If this person is not able to perform the duties they are both tasked and paid for; then this person does not need the job. Since marriage licenses need to be processed. One has to follow the laws of the land, even if they disagree with them. Therefore, those whom will not issue out marriage licences for any reason the state, states, as approved; should ALSO be removed from government.

Since she was elected, its a fair question to ask those that run for the position if they will follow the laws of the land; or have religious 'issues'. Anyone that doesn't answer or tries to evade/dodge the question; doesnt not need the job!

While some posters review who/whom (an increasingly antique distinction, but that's another story), it's probably a good idea for some others to brush up on contractions.

Why cannot legislatures like Rand Paul understand that the government serves all equally... not just Christians and THEIR beliefs?

Interesting to me, this issue. It does seem like a certain flavour of Christianity in the USA, once hegemonic, is seeing its power and privileges beginning to crumble ever so slightly. This case seems like a bit of a watershed moment.

I do wonder if this lady, even now, can quite believe what is happening to her.

I may be falling into an obvious trap here, but isn't there a little irony in 2 people laughing at a grammar smack down when one of them has used hes instead of he's and the other has said shoter instead of shooter

Irony, thy name is Collarchat.

To be honest, I suspect the issue is generally less poor grammar than fast typing in a casual medium. Yours truly, for instance, is a terrible typist, and it can take three previews before I get a post right. Chemo brain doesn't help, since it makes me prone to stupid mistakes that maddeningly fail to alert spell-check. (Note to self: Ask oncologist how long after last treatment I can continue trotting out this excuse!)

Between my own propensity for mistakes and having given at the office, I seldom don the Grammar Police cap here. But temptation got the better of me this time, since one poster had erred while slamming another.

Would you entertain the thought that someone might intentionally miss use a word for the express purpose of needling someone "whom" is offended by it. Now please do not misunderstand me. I am not accusing "whomever" of whatever but I am old and I have seen this and that and from time to time dis and dat.

If it is against her religion to treat people in accordance with the law, she needs to resign from government office.

An yet across the spectrum of conservative media, things are dead quiet on the issue. I guess they are trying to weigh on which of several political motivations to 'try on the air' in the coming hours/days. Should be amusing to watch as conservatives from one media source to the next fall into lockstep formation. Not likely to have much in the way of free or liberal/liberalis talk....

The word 'An' comes from old English (some call it Middle English). It means "to come before". Usually a 'linking' from a previous thought/sentence. I had an English teacher from hell whom beat it in to all of us (blame her!). Perhaps the only thing I remember of 6th grade English class.....

Not really used in modern English.....

An she has had four marriages in her life. We are not talking about someone whom has all their ducks in a row. We are talking about how someone used their religious to create a condition by which others view the same religion in a more negative manner. And not by those that are not of the religion, but, by those whom currently are in the philosophy.

Its said that one's friends will say encouraging things: "A man walks down a street wearing a hat like that, he's not afraid of anything". Its another when the enemies are brutally honest: "You look stupid with that hat!"

Since your so 'good' with English, I'm sure you'll have no trouble remembering where this little bit comes from. Comes from a famous theater production. Either that, Or I saw it in a theater.....

...Either way, thanks for calling me smart with your brutal honestly. I may not be winning any Nobel Prizes in English in the near future; but there is always hope of a better spell/grammar checker from MS....

I believe the whole quote was "Christianity = Sword for issuing out hatred and a shield for protecting from the consequences.

And that you ignore the reality of history for a fantasy of fiction. I'm on such a library sweep here; maybe I'll find a place for Encyclopedias (not like those books have seen much use in the last fifteen years by school children).

Given your 'literary' knowledge base, I figured you would understood the metaphors for what they were....

There are Christians and then there are psuedo-christians. I would expect someone dissing my English to know what 'pseudo' means. Apparently you do not. Christians, as I stated, have no problem with the LGBT community getting married. Most would even attend a weeding if invited/asked. Pseudo-christians on the other hand, are mean, rotten, and selfish to the core! They use the religion to attack (the metaphor here being a sword) and then hide when actually good people counter attack (the metaphorical shield).

Right now, the pseudo-christians across the nation are supporting this moron. They do not care if current law of the land states gay couples can get married. They view that their religious beliefs trump all others. Well, the judicial system in our government says otherwise on the issue.

Better to have passion, than none at all bounty. You can not seen to understand why; hence your 'partisan' comment. That I understand the ones on this forum whom are passionate with politics. Whether they are liberal, moderate, conservative or libertarian is not as important in this particular instance. That you would view these people as partisan hacks only several to show how little you understand the greater meaning in words.

For instance someone could explain to you how the Import/Export laws of the USA operate. You might understand all the words used. However, you would not understand the underlining meaning of them, because you do not have the passion for the subject material. Its not that we are elitist, its that you keep yourself dumb downed for reasons none of us can present a working hypothesis. (an manage to squeeze in some scientific literature there....)

If I understand what a psuedo-christian is and isn't, that would imply through logic, of knowing what a Christian is and isn't. That you failed to notice a few times that I am not attacking the good Christian population in the nation. I'm talking about those that 'wear their religion on a sleeve' rather than from the heart. The ones that will twist concepts, ignore sections that show their bullshit for what it is, and break laws (God's or the legal ones) because the 'Ends Justify the Means'. To them, Jesus is someone that would vote for someone within the GOP/TP in the next election. Which, understanding Jesus, is an individual whom would be at odds with conservative thought processes.

He is one that would want people trying to help others out. Particularly the ill, the old, the young, the injured, and the poor. All individuals whom the GOP/TP dislikes. He would like people learning to live together in peace; regardless of culture, nationality, age, religion, or political outlook. Another set of attributes the GOP/TP dislikes. He would marvel at how life has advanced in so many ways; yet, be sadden that we have kept so many negative things from the ancient era. Like war, starvation, disease, and even selfishness. Things that the GOP/TP enjoys. You would call Jesus a partisan hack too! I would be happy, if not humbled to have such an individual with me in life! A pair of partisan hacks that you dislike.

I am not fully versed on 'anything and everything' of Christianity. Yet, I can identify those whom use the religion for a good purpose. And those whom use it for a vile one. That you can not understand this, shows whom is the ignorant and idiot here. In case your not sure, its you, bounty!

So yet another Democrat feels it's her right to break the law, and because it's due to religious reasons, other democratic supporters are throwing her under the bus.

Doesn't matter if she is a Democrat, Republican or something else. She broke the law! And when the judge told her what not to do; she did that too! This is a person in a huge amount of legal problems. Either she has a bad lawyer, or more likely, to stubborn to realize the problems she is creating. For herself and her cause.
