The quiet, uneventful end of ‘Jade Helm 15’

Congratulations, America, you managed to avoid a military takeover of the United States and the dictatorial imposition of martial law.
The military exercise Jade Helm 15 generated enough conspiracy theories this year that it garnered mockery on late-night television, commentary from presidential candidates and reaction from the Texas governor. The basic thrust of the concerns: The military was laying the groundwork for martial law – if not now, then sometime in the future.
The exercise will end quietly Tuesday, however. Carried out in parts of Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida, it will conclude after two months of operations, said Suzanne Nagl, a spokeswoman for Army Special Operations Command, which oversaw it.
The Washington Post’s report added that Nagl does not yet have details on the lessons of the training exercise, but she added that officials at the Army Special Operations Command “believe the exercise overall was a success.”
Remarkably, “success” in this case did not mean the confiscation of Americans’ guns, as part of some kind of military takeover.
If you were away over the summer, you may not know what I’m talking about, so let’s recap. From July 15 to today, the military organized some training exercises for about 1,200 people in areas spanning from Texas to California. Somehow, right-wing activists got it in their heads that the exercises, labeled “Jade Helm 15,” were part of an elaborate conspiracy theory involving the Obama administration, the U.S. military, Walmart, and some “secret underground tunnels.”
It sounded ridiculous because it was ridiculous.
Nevertheless, as far-right hysteria grew louder, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) felt the need to order the Texas Guard to “monitor” the military exercises – just in case. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) stoked the same fires, and even Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) arranged a meeting with Pentagon officials and a three-star Air Force general, just to make sure American officials weren’t planning a takeover of America, or something.
As recently as mid-May – just four months ago – Public Policy Polling found that one-third of Republicans believed the conspiracy theory that “the government is trying to take over Texas.”
I suppose technically, the Jade Helm 15 exercises won’t end until later today, so far-right activists still have a few more hours to worry about the end of American freedom as we know it, but I’m reasonably optimistic that their hysteria was misplaced.
Postscript: As we talked about in July, it’s tempting to think the conspiracy theorists are going to look pretty foolish now that Jade Helm is wrapping up without incident, but right-wing politics usually doesn’t work this way. On the contrary, we’re likely to hear that Obama administration would have hatched its dastardly scheme, but conservatives prevented the crisis by raising a fuss.

Way to go, Lucy. Drink deeply from that cup of Kool Aid. Jade Helm was an incredible success, not because of whatever nonsense is being "reported" by the Corporate News Writers. No, it was an incredible success because we have been overtaken by the military, without even knowing it. It was such an incredible success, that you can't even find one sign that the military has taken over.

Is it any surprise there is a "National Guard" base in every US State, the District of Columbia, and 3 US territories? I think not. This has been the plan all along.

[8D]

She is right, the conspiracy theory therories were junk. No massive right wing protests, no demonstrations, no right wing nuts attacking the military people for no reason. People just sat back and watched it. Another left wing conspiracy up in smoke.

How you like to ignore reality there, BamaD....

Over on the OTHER....JH15....thread, you stated some really....juicy....stuff. In light of me stating to you, that nothing would happen that was evil, mean, or unconstitutional; how do you plead?

I plead the 1st, you are distorting what I said again.
I never said that JH15 was a plot.
I defended peoples right to speak, you know that they have that right.
The "juciest" thing I said was to ask you how you would like it if a Republican administration labeled PROM as hosilte territory and was going to run a anti insurection exercise there.
You always assume I made the radical statements that you expect rather than the reasonable ones I actually make.

mnottertail -> RE: Jade helm? conspiracy?not so much (9/16/2015 10:47:22 AM)

Republicans are in your bedrooms, why wouldnt they want to make a Prom into a nazi concentration camp as well?

The conspiracy theorists have already moved on to the Iran deal. They seem to be sticking with an EMP attack imminent on the US.

Will emp affect my 41 desoto?

Yep, it will turn it into a Ford.

Pull a response from the bag:

* Jade Helm 15 was thwarted and abandoned thanks to the vigilance of the free American people.
* Jade Helm 15 was successful in laying the groundwork for a more sinister plan in the future.
* Jade Helm 15 was actually a smokescreen for a more sinister plan going on right now.
* JADE HELM 15 HERALDS THE END OF TIMES. OBAMA IS THE ANTICHRIST. DARK PRINCE HAS RISEN. SOMETHING ABOUT COMETS AND LUNAR ECLIPSES.
* We were wrong.

All but the one in caps. It's called planning and with the advent of 'The Project for a New American Century' will start the American Spring which the Jade Helms of the world...will nip in the bud. Then the 4th Reich takes hold.

A few points of fact:

The various conspiracy theories concerning Jade Helm came from the right, not the left. (Right = Conservatives, Left = Liberals)

Second, the Republican Governor of the State of Texas ordered up members of the state defense force to watch the activities of the US troops.

Third, conservative republicans jumped on the conspiracy band wagon and went nuts on FOX news talking about the possibilities.

Finally, when you consider the states this was conducted in, there are more than enough "hold my beer" redneck lunatics to stop the US Army, not by force, but by causing soldiers to laugh so hard they become incapacitated by the insane tactics used by the "hold my beer" crowd.

But when and if and that's a big if, we get a repub pres. and we see Jade Helm 16, it will then be for national (homeland) security and for our own good...to keep us safe from homegrown terrorists.

Most of the conservatives on here were "borderline" wacko about JH15. They tried their best to portray conservatives in Texas as being rational individuals; while at the same attacking the President like its his idea to invade Texas. Many of the posts tried to state Texas was allowed to leave the nation if it wanted (which it can not on its own). And a few even tried to bash me for all sorts of things....AND FAILED!

Well as I remember, it ended like this.

K.

Probably because in the end I didn't give a shit. Your a wacko nutcase! No point in debating a fantasy that will not come true because there were so many holes in your arguments I could said every ship ever created by mankind through them!

jlf1961 -> RE: Jade helm? conspiracy?not so much (9/17/2015 1:26:06 AM)

Im gonna point out a few facts:

During the Clinton administration, the conspiracy theoriests were saying that he was gonna take the guns away, put people in camps and declare martial law.

During the Bush Administration, he was setting up FEMA detention camps, planning to use martial law, planned the 9/11 attacks so he could justify a war, and purposely drug his feet after Katrina.

Now its Obama doing the same damn crap, alledgedly.

You folks want to know where the real threat to your freedoms are, look in the damn mirror. Your paranoia has taken more freedom from you than the government.

FYI, K, the clock on the fireplace is 3 minutes slow.

I think the Desoto would be worth more...they quit making them in 1961. The only Fords I'd want would be a '67 Thunderbolt Fairlane, 427, (wedge) '66 Mustang GT350 or just about anything with that Ford 427, single overhead cam 427 Hemi.

mnottertail -> RE: Jade helm? conspiracy?not so much (9/17/2015 8:26:23 AM)

I got two things to say to that Kirata:

On the shores of Gitche Gumee,
Of the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood Nokomis, the old woman,
Pointing with her finger westward,
O'er the water pointing westward,
To the purple clouds of sunset.

and:

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early.

It could be said. It should be said. It must be said.

Jade.

I see Texas continues to set the standard and lead the world in the noble struggle to defend freedom.

Fresh from defeating the Federal conspiracy to deprive Texans of their constitutional rights impose martial law and instiute mass re-education in the dreaded FEMA concentration camps through the nefarious Jade Helm 'operation', Texas has now stuck another sterling blow in the fight against those eebil Mooselems, who are now using children fight for their evil cause and death cult. Freedom lovers everywhere will be inspired by news of the arrest of Ahmed the nine year old who brought a home made clock to school and got arrested for suspicion of making a bomb. Such vigilance is an example of how to preserve freedoms everywhere.
http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/sep/16/homemade-clock-ahmed-mohamed-texas-officials-we-were-right

Freedom lovers will also be disappointed by the reactions of liberals like POTUS Obama and Mark Zuckerburg of Facebook who deliberately ignore the shocking potential dangers inherent in allowing of militant Mooselem fanatics like Ahmed running around playgrounds unsupervised, free to conduct their jeehad against all things good and Godly. Instead they posed irrelevant questions and accusations of racial profiling. Such pinkos will get sorted out very quickly and very permanently if they dare show their faces in good ole Texas, the centre of the freedom loving world.

Lots of people in Texas are just as disgusted with this as the rest of the world.
