I drink it hot in the winter.

My fave sammichs are peanut butter and marmite.

I put it on the bread when I grill ham and cheese on toast.

It goes into stews and casseroles and soups for added 'beefiness'.

I love marmite!

Apparently many of you were bad little boys and girls who were banned from the play party, and others took their toys and left in a huff. Go find your friends! Bring them back to the dark side! We have cookies!

You don't really think that, do you?

No I don't really believe that.

I mean, I have my bitch moments, but this was not one of them. I have been here long enough, and talked and joked around with several people on these boards enough, that I felt the playful nature of my words was both clear and appropriate. I thought that readers would understand that when people make comments that include "coming to the dark side" and "cookies", they are usually intended in a lighthearted manner.

I have previously teased a poster that was banned from here in the very same manner, when they announced their ban in the collarspace group on Fet, and it was taken as intended and we laughed.

However, this is the second comment I have gotten regarding this post. Another poster pm'd me, seemed to be perturbed that I was making a serious comment, and wanted to clarify the situation. So let me just state for the record:

I do not have an opinion regarding the actions of people who have been banned on here. I have read posts all over these. In fact, as I told the person who pm'd me, over the short while that I have been here, I have seen members get banned for trivial matters, while others that were purposely provocative were consistently given a pass.

Until then, let the adults talk.

I will. And I will be right there with them. And as an adult, I expect the same courtesy.

We really do need a sarcasm font. [8D]

No problem. Just don't do it again.

Hold up there, spiritchick.. Let's rethink this. Looks just consented to take the blame. I say we blame him.. Not just for the present but all past and future events as well. Looks is guilty for everything that has happened, is happening and will happen. Imagine the truble that can ensue with that sort of scapegoat already in place.

Over the internet we yell at each other with ALL CAPS and emphasize with bold and italics, but where is sarcasm? Where is the nuance, the elegance? We say it is time for a change. It's time for a revolution. It's time for a new font style!

Bold
Italic

Seriously though, have some fun with it. See our usage guide and find out what you can do to spread the word. I know you'll be at the forefront of the movement...

Yeah, but if they gave us a sarcasm font, I don't know if I'd type in anything else. [8D]

Bunnicula -> RE: What happened? (9/27/2015 8:41:34 AM)

I assume everything is written in sarcasm font.

Makes some of the dross infinitely more entertaining!

I spread it sparingly on bread. Didn't even know you could drink it.

just boil water, pour it in a cup and add a third of a teaspoon and stir... add more or less to taste:)

yeah it would seriously help me out with some people on here.

LadyPact -> RE: What happened? (9/27/2015 8:52:30 AM)

I feel completely uncultured. I have no clue what Marmite is.

Awwww LP. Ya dunno what ya missin'.

Marmite (/ˈmɑrmaɪt/ MAR-myt) is the brand name for two similar food spreads: the original British version, since 2000 a Unilever product; and a modified version produced in New Zealand by Sanitarium Health Food Company and distributed in Australia and the Pacific. Marmite is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing. Other similar products include the Australian Vegemite, which is saltier in taste, the Swiss Cenovis and the German Vitam-R.

The British version of the product is a sticky, dark brown food paste with a distinctive, powerful flavour, which is extremely salty. This distinctive taste is reflected in the British company's marketing slogan: "Love it or hate it." The product's name has entered British English as a simile for something that is an acquired taste or tends to polarise opinions.

A version with a different flavour has been manufactured in New Zealand since 1919. This is the only product sold as Marmite in Australia and the Pacific, whereas elsewhere in the world the British version predominates.

The image on the front of the British jar shows a "marmite" (French: [maʁmit]), a French term for a large, covered earthenware or metal cooking pot. British Marmite was originally supplied in earthenware pots, but since the 1920s has been sold in glass jars shaped like the French cooking pot.

...Marmite is traditionally eaten as a savoury spread on bread, toast, savoury biscuits or crackers, and other similar baked products. Owing to its concentrated taste it is usually spread thinly with butter or margarine. Marmite can also be made into a savoury hot drink by adding one teaspoon to a mug of hot water much like Oxo and Bovril.

Marmite is paired with cheese, such as in a cheese sandwich, and has been used as an additional flavouring in Mini Cheddars, a cheese-flavoured biscuit snack. Similarly, it has been used by Walkers Crisps for a special edition flavour; is sold as a flavouring on rice cakes; and Marmite Biscuits. Starbucks in the UK has a cheese and Marmite panini on its menu.

Thank you. I learned something today.

When I tried google, the hit that I read was about the pot, which didn't make any sense to me at all. LOL.

That would be very cool but don't risk getting in trouble with customs.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: What happened? (9/27/2015 9:15:29 AM)

That's odd. The first of 7,590,000 entries that I got was Wiki that I quoted from.

Though saying that, I've seen a lot of people not getting results from Google recently on a variety of subjects.
Methinks that somewhere along the line it's being filtered. I know Bing and various other search engines out there are filtered but so far (touch wood) my Google has never been.
I can understand that from people living in places like Greta does and in the far east and those where the people are governed by megalomaniac dictators that don't want their populace to know the truth.
But in our western world? Shouldn't happen IMHO.

Yeah, I agree one of those would keep me out of trouble on occasion. LOL

I have also been told that I should choose my own sarcasm-themed song. That I should have it on my phone or something, and anytime I am going to talk I should press 'play' and have it softly playing in the background.

But as I said, that was the second time this morning that something had been said about that particular comment. Someone was annoyed enough about it to ask me about it privately. so I thought I should as least make it clear that I was not cracking on people with my comment.

And just let me add that the person who pm'd me was not someone who I had the impression (based solely on their posting history) got offended easily or was in the habit of taking things personally. So when they felt strongly enough to bring it up privately, I realized that it may have been interpreted differently than I had intended.

Very weird. At first, I thought I had spelled it wrong.

The way people were talking, I knew I had to be off because it sounded like some kind of jam.

Yep. My first hit when I googled it was the stoneware, or earthenware, or whatever it was. It was a pot.
