What I dont like about this quiz is that it places 'Statist' and 'libertarian' as the 'neutral' alignment from Dungeons and Dragons. With Liberals as good and conservatives as evil.
Libertarians are NEVER neutral. Nor is 'big government'. In fact, does the size of government determine whether the government is good for the people it serves?
Libertarians are just crazy fuckers (sorry DaddySatyr, there are many in that bunch that are just flat out insane).
If one answers 'maybe' down the line, they are a centrist. To get 'big government' one has to 'agree' on the stuff that doesn't make 'big government', 'big government' in reality. Is our government 'big'? Or is it actually small? Since a big government could easily handle the needs of the nation without to many problems. How easily can the current government handle that big debt we have on the books? Not to well. How about protecting the weakest of our citizens against the many challenges they must endure? We really do not do a good job there either. Or justice system is screwed up not from the size of government, but by people, whom 'look the other way' when their is money to be made. All in all, the current government of the USA is not big.
I've seen facebook 'quizs' like this one. All of them simple and of little real value or insight. According to the Dungeons and Dragons, I'm Lawful Good. 'Famous smart people', I'm Spock. For 'Fictional Nations' I'm the Alliance from WoW. My favor firearm is the MP-5. What does this all say about me? Nothing more or less then this quiz.

Yeah, Statists and Libertarians aren't polar opposites.

Are your knickers seriously this twisted up over the graphic having the "origin" at the bottom corner? Most 2-axis graphs also have the positive numbers going up or to the right (depending on the axis), so the way this graph is presented is a bit different, as it's rotated 45° CCW. But, that allows for "Conservative" to be directly right, and "Liberal" directly left, which is also traditionally the way those two sides are viewed.

I'm sorry, DS but I think I have to agree with "Tennessee Tuxedo" on this one.

A Statist Libertarian would want a large government to "enforce" the Libertarian agenda; which would be less government intrusion into the lives of Americans. It makes perfect sense.

We need more laws to re-state and enforce freedoms. We need less personal responsibility and more dependence upon that big government (which is there to prevent itself from intruding on our lives).

Also, his idea about (look at the highlighted part of the following quote):

... makes perfect sense! If the deficit/debt is too large, you increase the size of government (and get all those new government employees to work for free and with no benefits) and that debt will be paid down in no time!

I am apparently a centrist.

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 50%
Your ECONOMICS issues Score is 80%

Makes sense while I am not a Con, but I am still far away from the Lib side.

Joether suffers from the delusion that his "wisdom" transcends facts. The source of this "wisdom" isn't definitely known, but I personally suspect his lamp socket.

Where do you fit on the political map?

My result came up: "You are Mussolini. Tread carefully".

On the plus side Genghis Khan and the Mongol Hordes would have wiped the floor with Mussolini and associates in about 5 minutes flat.

The test is overly simplistic.

I'm militantly liberal.

Not only do I not even grasp the political weather vane as having a north (libertarian) or a south (statist) direction but they have no room for me and my 'leanings'...an ultra moderate, right wing, revolutionary pacifist.

And, of course it has been put together to by an American neo-con type so it follows that in the event you're not a fan of invasions into other people's countries, then the conclusion is that you can't survive without 'big government' and 'hand-outs'; which would make you Stalin or Mao or even Pol Pot.

in my personal feeling I dropped over the edge of the chart. Small it is indeed ... so small that I think it should be taken into account that the world is a bit bigger than many seem to think.

The questions and the ways they are put show hardly any knowledge of politics, laws, and democratic, political, social systems outside the USA.

No questions about foreign policy, international relations, environmental issues, any recent events.

One problem I have with this quiz is that it assumes ideas and assumptions run one's decision making.

For instance: "Liberals prefer to have the government run social security instead of having a privatized system."

I might like to have a privatized system, but pragmatically speaking such a system has never worked anywhere in the world to help the aged live in retirement years.

Rather than have the worn labels of "liberal," "conservative," or "libertarian" I'd like to see divides like:

(1) Magical Thinking

(2) Free Market Idealist

(3) Realist

(4) Pragmatist

And Informed v. Uniformed

As examples ^^^^.
