Lots of reasons.
One is that I don't even LOOK at the profile name.
Another is that I don't bother looking at the profile.
Also, I have a terrible memory for things that are uninteresting to me.
And, truth be told, most posters are exceedingly uninteresting to me.
I just read what they say, and respond to what they say.
I'm actually very sorry I spent a minute looking at YOUR profile about 10 minutes ago. I really am. I'm gonna start being nice to you SIMPLY BECAUSE you're a beautiful woman.
That whip picture is a killer. And the red satin dress, oh my. The Story of O was an adolescent favorite of mine for years I think! Even if the hair grew black on your face from the duct tape, ooops, I mean electrical tape being ripped off, what you say in your profile is, well, to the point, it's interesting.
Once you're "interesting", I'm going to take into account MORE than just your words. I can't help it. It's a biological programming (remember that I have female profiles on car sites, where the only thing different is my "gender" and everyone is so nice and helpful to me - they practically offer to come to my house to fill my car up with gasoline!).
If I'm lucky, I'll forget about having seen your profile, and I'll get back to just responding to what you write here in the forum.

Funny thing. In the corporate world, almost everyone in a 3,000 person company knew me, yet, I barely knew ten percent of them. Linked in tells me I'm in a very small percentage (was it 1%?) of the people who are most connected, and I don't even log into linked in other than something like once every few months.
I've ALWAYS been better known than I know others. I don't know why.
Maybe you can tell me why, but it has always been the case since high school (well, in college, it wasn't the case - but in the corporate world, at a small'ish company, it was).

All you know about me is what I write - which - since I don't hide much - is a lot. But, all I know about you is what YOU write - which - I only remember if it imparts to me knowledge that I didn't previously have.
Actually you, and a few others, have taught me a lot in this thread.
But, truth be told, I get all of you mixed up because I'm not bothering to sort you out (and, you sometimes get mixed up with the riffraff by mistake - you know - those whom I commend for posting with nary any value - one of whom only cares that the thread length gets to 20 pages - that's how deep he/she is - I wonder how these people manage to add so little value so often?)

While, for purposes of good form, I never post to the same thread with different identities (except sometimes, by sheer mistake), my posting style is about as unique as any - and I don't try to disguise it - so - anyone worth their salt can find all my identities pretty easily (even my dog profiles).

In my defense, I could not find anywhere where your comment came from.

Bear in mind there are plenty of idiots and wackos here on CS, who, if you put them all in a room and added up the combined IQ, that number might actually reach three figures, but only barely.
So, my first assumption was that you were just another idiot (again ... be cognizant that the statement had no basis that I could figure out that was contained within this thread).
Even so, the fact is plain that I hadn't realized how intelligent you were, such that my coy accusation was so easily seen through for what it was.
I truly respect you for realizing EXACTLY what I was up to.
The majority of the people here wouldn't have had the brains to figure that out (witness, for example, poster #37 above by way of classic case).
