I like what he's saying. My problem with Trump is the flip flop factor. He was a democrat before he was a Republican. He was for so called "assault weapon" bans before he was against them. He was for abortion before he was against it (not that abortion is a deciding factor for me except late term abortion's but what a clusterfuck it would be to outlaw all abortions in all 50 states) (like that would ever happen, anti abortion politics is a whole lot of crap talk).

I know that, but given what else she doesn't know about her country (check out the other thread where she told us how citizenship is handled in Singapore) I'm a bit doubtful to not only her location...

I believe Trump is fiscally conservative and socially Liberal. He flip flop on social liberal issues to appeal to Republicans. He can't exactly support abortion and be for gay marriages openly now if he wants to be the republican nominee. But I do not believe for one minute trump is against abortion or gay marriages. Which is why, his perfect! I support abortion too!

I chew gum infront of cops all the time. It's totally fine.
Anyway, if we have financial surpluses, and gum is not allowed, I think that's a tiny sacrifice for a healthy economy don't cha think? If US can ban gum and eliminate poverty, I would suggest, ban gum too.
On top of that, I don't have to suffer gum on train seats or bus seats, like I so often encounter in Australian public transport. Our country is too small to have everybody travel by their own vehicles, so our public transportation system is extremely important. People used to stick gum to block train doors from closing properly and mess up the whole efficiency and reliability of our public transportation system. So we ban the sale of it. But we never banned being able to chew it. You can buy gum from another country and bring it in with no issues.

Greta75 -> RE: 4th republican debate (11/12/2015 5:21:02 AM)

I just want to say that I read in WSJ, estimated 11 million illegals in the US.

I stand by easy peazy. If that many people can get through. That can't be too hard.

Whether that figures is accurate. I don't know.

11 million sounds like alot to me, as there are only less than 2 million Singaporeans that exists, so they outnumber us!

actually I don't think being subject to to a legal system with unproportionate punishments for petty crimes is worth an economical surplus, well I actualy would rethink a system that can be jeopardized by a gum for safety reasons.

In 2014 the natural increase was positive, as the number of births exceeded the number of deaths by 19 169. Due to external migration, the population increased by 25 000. The sex ratio of the total population was 1.017 (1 017 males per 1 000 females) which is lower than global sex ratio.

So, how's the weather in Nigeria today?

I'm a disabled vetran, so I don't work. However, since your beloved president has decided NOT to give a COLA, this year...as he's done several times before...things will tighten up, especially if a minimum-wage increase goes into effect.

No matter what happens, working people(wage slaves)get further and further behind.

Import of chewing gum for sale is wrong, but bringing a few packs of gum or two for personal consumption. So if you bring it in, in large quantities, maybe you just need to justify why you need so much gum, if it's not for sale. But actually chewing gum, I mean buying gum from another country, and putting it in your mouth in Singapore to chew it is not illegal. On top of that, we can buy gum legally from pharmacies too. You should visit Singapore sometimes, I'd chew gum with you.

This is silly, our population is 6 million but only 2 million are Singaporeans. 4 million people are legal foreign workers. We have alot of foreigners working in Singapore because our economy is sooo good that we have more jobs than, enough people to fill all the jobs! We had Donald Trump ish policies and they work over here. Bring lots of foreign companies wanting to open their company in Singapore, create alot of jobs. It's about making yourself more competitive.

On top of that, we are competiting with poor countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines with weaker currencies, and cheaper labour, yet we have more jobs than them, we have companies choosing us over them, despite our labour being more expensive. We are doing something right. Donald is right, things like infrastructure makes a huge difference too. We beat them in infrastructure.

Find me a Nigerian who knows more about Singapore than me. I challenge you.

I also count Singaporeans by eligible voters, because it means they are Singaporean. Not by their status of living in Singapore. And our recent election this year have tabulated about 2mil plus eligible voters only. And since our birth replacement rate is so low, that's why the government encouraging more quality immigrants for replacement as they given up on birth rate, I don't count the children. Still, I know we have less than 2mil true blue Singaporeans, since I really don't want to count those who got citizenship through immigration. As we still don't really consider them Singaporeans. We consider their kids Singaporean. Too many people just changing to Singapore citizenship to evade tax from their country but not even residing in Singapore. My boss for 11 years is an American who gave up his American citizenship for our Citizenship to evade US tax. He runs his own multiple business here, is a multi-millionaire. Another popular fellow, Eduardo Saverin, facebook co-founder, also to evade US taxes, became a Singaporean, and his popular here for investing heavily in our local companies. But you know, you are losing your multi-millionaires to us, and when they come here, they open companies and create jobs. Donald Trump is 100% right. Bernie plan to increase taxes on the rich....., I don't know how will that benefit America when all the rich simply leaves to countries who tax them peanuts, like ours.

Your rebuttal is interesting Greta, but it is totally wrong.
Nowhere in your statutes does it define bringing it in 'for sale' or in large quantities.

It very clearly states: "3. Except as provided in regulation 3A, the importation into Singapore of any chewing gum is prohibited.".
And 3A states that you need a license to import it.
There is NO exception for 'personal use' per se.

Every exception listed under section 3A explicitly state that the chewing gum must be a medicinal or dental gum and that a product license has been granted.

It's a bit like saying cannabis is illegal to import but it's Ok for personal use.
So if you are bringing chewing gum into the country without a license and not being in transit to another country, you are breaking the law. It's as simple as that.

I'm a Brit and never been to Singapore.
But we are able to look this stuff up with the advent of the internet.
This isn't the first time I've called you out on what you posted and your own laws.

Our country has beat the US in GDP despite being only 50 years old, tiny and zero natural resource. Trump is gonna make US top again, I believe his the only one who can help you guys get there. So much potential, bad government making bad decisions.

Since you seem to know jack shit, it shouldn't be so difficult, you have shown that you don't even know how citizenship is handled, you know about anybody who can fact check might know more, or at least enough to figure out that you tend to invent things, and uhuh yes, you must have more than twice as many people who just took citizenship than citizens, wow, isn't that amazing...

What you count seems to be as real as your "facts"

Shouldn't you be glad if all those rich Americans come to Singapore to pay peanuts? I mean you seem to think this would happen. So they create all those jobs in this tiny country, where will you find the workforce? Wouldn't it be very very simple to just tax imports from other countries to keep them in the US?

Donald Trump is about as right as you are. Because you know, trickle down never worked ONCE
