In reply to DesideriScuri "When was the last time a "Christian" country attacked another country over religious reasons?"

It depends who we ask. If we asked Muslims in the Middle East...Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria, I'm sure a majority would call these wars 'Christians against Muslims'. Whilst the West may brush this off as nonsense, these wars will be noted, at least in half the worlds history books, as Christian wars.

Besides, the further they got into Europe the more the tables turned, see Tours.

Twenty five or so years to the first loss???? 700 or so years to actually turn the tables???

The US isn't a "Christian" nation, and we didn't attack over religious reasons.

What would you call the effort to exterminate the native americans?

TallClevDom -> RE: So . . . what do we do about C? (12/12/2015 3:25:12 PM)

If the world thinks we're a joke, why do they keep trying to get into this country? Aside from tiny nations, we've never had more emigrants to another country than immigrants from it.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: So . . . what do we do about C? (12/12/2015 6:54:21 PM)

I would call the effort to exterminate the American Indians, greed on the white mans part more than a religious war. america was following it's so-called 'manifest destiny' wasn't it ? Which seemed to mean that anything anybody else had that proved to be worth anything, automatically belonged to the white americans ?? Beginning with their ancestral lands and working outward from there.

Between the US and the Pacific.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: So . . . what do we do about C? (12/12/2015 7:35:50 PM)

Not forgetting parts of Mexico and the passing thought to invade Canada and take that too. I believe there was also some discussion about acquiring Cuba and parts ( if not all) of South America but I would have to go back and check on that and I can't be bothered, but either way, it was pure greed I think.

Actually it was the Europeans who came over and started exterminating them to colonize the new land. This wasn't america until after they had gotten a good foothold here and decided to call it that. Now after that we certainly carried on the tradition, but we didn't start it. Funny that no one ever mentions that part. But I totally agree that a lot of it was down to greed.

That would indicate your manifest ignorance of the subject at hand. A little critical reading on the subject could easily disabuse you of your ignorance.

america was following it's so-called 'manifest destiny' wasn't it ?

I could not agree more that we should always keep an eye on the benjamines as the root cause. That,though, was never pimped as the reason for the policy of extermination. The reason pimped by every president from george washington to teddy roosevelt was "the only good indian was a dead one because they were heathen pagans.

So according to you the folks who took charge in 1783 were in no way related to those who preceeded them?[8|]
