In a joint release, the Black Youth Project, We Charge Genocide, Assata’s Daughters, the #LetUsBreatheCollective, and Black Lives Matter Chicago, say they don't want to talk about "violent" (scare quotes in original) black communities. Instead they want to talk about white supremacist genocide (yes, genocide): "the systematic targeting of Black and brown youth." Source: Shifting the Focus U.S. black population: 2000: 35.5 million 2012: 39.7 million The white supremacist genocide doesn't seem to be working so well, though somewhere around 100,000 blacks were murdered during that time period, overwhelmingly by other blacks in violent black communities. But the answer, they say, is to defund the police: We demand all local, state and federal budgets to defund the police and invest those dollars and resources in Black futures. ~What We Want They don't mention brown people, but why quibble? The white supremacist genocide doesn't seem to be working so well, though somewhere around 100,000 blacks were murdered during that time period, overwhelmingly by other blacks in violent black communities. But the answer, they say, is to defund the police: So since blacks kill blacks we should not worry about cops killing blacks?[8\|]

you actually get that from the comparison?? as opposed to the much more obvious (and real, as opposed to your false implication) that these groups are spending their time and energy on a comparatively small problem and if they cared about "black lives" in the broader sense, they might re-direct those energies where it matters most?

Raised in the South, he smiled on Jim Crow and did not object when two of his cabinet appointees re-segregated their departments. Same policies as the latter 20th century repubs and so-called Dixiecrats and Boll-Weevil dems...all conservatives, hardly liberal. He vowed to “teach the Latin American republics to elect good men” and dispatched troops to Mexico and Haiti when they didn’t follow his advice. Same as say Reagan's Contras and all in an effort to clear the way for corporate America. During World War I, he enforced new laws that effectively outlawed most dissent from government policy. Very similar to the right (conservatives) today with the Patriot Act and wanting to hang a so-called dissident fugitive...Snowden. He signed bills that created the Federal Reserve, Hardly liberal allowing the bankers to take over our currency and the Treasury. Signed on to a progressive income tax rates. 2 rates 2% and 7%, Same as the progressive repubs of the time pushed for or they wouldn't have voted in the 16th amend. He secured humane working conditions for merchant seamen and railroad workers. Same as progressive repubs. He restricted child labor again with the aid of the progressives republicans. He curbed the power of large corporations. Same as the progressive repubs, with Roosevelt actually breaking up Standard Oil. But didn't stop the war profiteering or desire for armed expansionism. After the U.S. entered the war in Europe, his administration began operating the railroads, lifting the hopes of leftists who had long advocated public ownership of what was then a rich and vital industry. Lifting hopes is one thing, actually doing it is quite another and also a policy of the progressive wing of the repubs. If Wilson were running today, he wouldn’t win a single Democratic primary and would no doubt be heckled out of the race.

And Johnson was spot on. The party of the KKK, democrats, co-opted the ethnic black vote for decades after. I find the spin doctored re-inventing of the Democratic party done in the late 1960s a wonderful example of hype over substance. The same old money families that were proponents of eugenics and national socialism in the 1930s still pull the strings of the party.
