As long as there is distrust of authorities, people will always feel they need guns to protect themselves against the very people who's job is to protect them.

All that police brutality is probably not helping the case.

Gun issues in US is so complex, and I think sometimes democratic societies have their challenges in implementing something supposingly positive and this is exactly one of them.

When I read pro-gun arguments, I wonder to myself, why aren't we worried about Police misusing their guns. Over here, the only person walking around with guns all the time are the police.

We just got blind faith.

hmmm just think if the hole country was a gun free zone... it used to be...at least when it came to the ar15 type of weapons.

I guess you forgot when you could go to woolworth's, Kmart and a few other national stores and buy the semi auto version of the M1 carbine, 30 caliber, capable of high rates of fire, and one model was available with either no butt stock (just a pistol grip) or a WW2 style folding stock.

Oh, and it was magazine fed as well....

Then there was the Ruger Mini 14, 5.56 magazine fed, made popular by the tv show A-Team.

Oh, and the semi auto version of the famous Thompson was available then as well.

Want to know the kicker?

Every one of these weapons were legal to buy after the first assault weapon ban, would still be legal today, under the latest version of that ban.

Oh, then there is this from ISIS:

quote:

“Three lions made us proud. They are still alive,” one ISIS adherent tweeted in Arabic after the shootings at Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino. “California streets are full with soldiers with heavy weapons. The Unites States is burning #America_Burning #Takbir”

To me it makes no difference the reason... it still, at the roots, is the proliferation of killing weapons. What happened to all your gun carrying compatriots? Why didn't they take out the gunmen?
...

Why didn't you save them? What were you doing instead of saving lives?

Zero. It's impossible to get hold of guns for ordinary citizens here.

But the problem why it cannot be implemented in the US is I believe, because the borders to Mexico are poorly protected, so if ya ban all the good guys from carrying guns, just like drug smuggling, all the bad guys will still have access to guns, and I believe perhaps, the good guys will still get gun down frequently.

You see I have guns... many and it did them no good...did yours? but statistics say if enough of us get guns it will still do them no good but it will kill and injure a few more children.

I am saying when guns are completely ban from the US, they are gonna come from Mexico anyway!
The good law abiding people will be in danger.
So if illegals can easily come in. Guns and Drugs too, easily. 10 million illegals came in. Imagine if each of them brought a gun too.

I kinda see it until the border situation is under control, then tackle the elimination of guns. Until then, there will probably be mass shootings with or without guns being legal I reckon.

Not to mention the 300 million or so guns in private hands.

Any mass killing is a terrorist act ...what possible difference does it make if they are ISIS...or anti-government nuts... or anti-abortion or healthcare or racists? 14 people are dead and maybe more...What will it take for you to agree we have a gun problem in this country?

Butch

Again they stayed out of the way of the police.
Second one at least according to his tweets, stayed out of the way of the police but left his home, went to the business he owned and armed/protected his employees.
And yes if it is terroism it makes a difference or are you saying that France has lax gun laws?

Then the whole country would be a no self defense zone.
But then we know that killers obey those self defense free zone signs don't we.

Yes the day will come when grownups take away your toys...and if the rest of the world does this perhaps we will have matured as a species.

Johnny have you ever considered that humanity is nuts... has been nuts and may very well always be nuts? Now perhaps taking toys away for the killers may save lives even if it will not make us all sane.

Butch

They will just go to bombs instead of guns, these guys used at least one.

Or the president ships them to Mexico so when they are used to kill people he can track them.
