Her politics are a bit like Cams, ...

for LC and NG

not quite but close - but there is a perfect Cameron's-best-pal and mirror image: "unser Horst" Seehofer. Cameron was just on the news visiting in Kreuth ...

for those who are unfamiliar with that one: Bavarian prime minister - a text-book example of a politician turning with the wind

In all fairness, Blnymph, Cameron doesn't change his politics to suit the occasion but he certainly does change his demeanour according to the person with whom he is speaking; moreover, according to perceived rank in world status.

In terms of his politics, he's a died-in-the-wool English conservative, which means in the modern world a free-market advocate and socially conservative.

That won't change. He's from a background that will promote those things whatever the weather.

I agree with him on his economic politics, but disagree with him on his social politics; and I can't see how you can be a liberal, economically, and be a conservative socially.

Doesn't make sense to me. Liberalism is a mind-set, something that is within your nature, and as such it follows all of your politics will be directed by said liberal principles - which to me mean tolerance, being fair, competition, being open, and when push comes to shove putting judgement aside to help someone.

Cameron is visiting Merkel today, I suggested to one of my friends that they keep him there, but the reply was "Hey, you know we have sufficient useless sleezebags ourselves..."

I did not want to imply that Cameron changes his politics to suit the occasion - just Seehofer does.

Seehofer gave a press statement today that Cameron is "100 % CSU" (our - well not mine - ruling state party). What you describe about C. is pretty close to CSU policy indeed including the contradictions.

My understanding of German politics is limited to Nazi Germany, which I don't find interesting anymore as there's only so much you can read about them before you conclude pack of idiots who don't deserve any attention; and mid-to-late 19th century Germany which is far more interesting.

What they do these days doesn't really appeal to me, but then what our politicians do these days doesn't really appeal to me either.

Yeah, very good, because what we really need is cheap sound-bites.

On another thread I think you said English is your second language.

It shows. You may have lived here for a while, but you certainly haven't picked up our way of living.

Where I do sympathise with Cameron is in his belief that we have worth preserving in England, and your post lends some weight to that premise.

you could get the whole CSU Bavarian state government for free -

but that is just a sadism flight of fancies, the UK would not deserve such a punishment - maybe if HRH would give Lundy or St. Kilda's independence we could post them into office there

I'm glad I haven't picked up with your way of living, being a lager ladette never appealed.

Btw I wasn't talking to you and couldn't care less about the lager lout who always knows best, I guess you love your vacation in Benidom and stuff...

You know what, I think the blessed hide button is in order and you can spew all your bollocks and I don't need to see it

Yeah, of course, the country that gave the world so many things, which have stood the test of time, is characterised by drunkenness.

Are you on some serious mind bending drugs?
