juliaoceania -> Is The Heat Wave Getting To You? (7/18/2006 11:27:00 PM)

I am sitting here getting ready for bed looking at the projected temperature for tomorrow. It is suppsed to be down a couple of degrees to 103. Two days ago it was 110 degrees. It was so hot I could feel the heat radiate from the walls and when I touched the windows they were hot. I am having trouble breathing and my eyes sting. It would probably be more bearable tomorrow, but it will be cloudy, which brings about humidity, so it will feel warmer than 103.

I know many are suffering from the heat wave around the country... what is it like in your neck of the woods?

It is freaking hot....I am in SoCal so yeah 110 was pretty miserable and to top it off our air went on the brink, so we were miserable til they came and replaced the motor...still not cooling properly, but it is only 80 in here now, instead of 118.

It was 110 here yesterday, too.  When I checked today, it was 104 but seemed to be climbing.  I stayed indoors.  I have been home sick the last couple of days, with my AC cranked up.  The few times I went out, it was like walking into a wall of heat.  I miss living in the Bay Area, especially in the summer.  Sacramento summers are the pits.

Doll - - 118?  I would melt.  Blech.

Did you start this thread because you think that the ''heat'' might be responsible for getting to a few after reading the last few pages of your ''Blame Employers not Mexicans thread''? [8|]

It's been 85 - 90 with a cool breeze dipping in shortly before dusk - Nothing like the rest of the country.

Needless to say....I couldn't wait to go to work to be in air conditioning for a few hours.

LOL Doll, our AC at work was out yesterday for awhile.  It was one of those odd days when I was glad I was sick!

If the air wasn't helping, I just walked in the cooler for a bit...that did the trick...lol

I like the heat it is better then freezing. It has only been pushing 100 here the last few days in Maryland. Now 110 that is hot. I work in a hot warehouse a guy bought a Sharper Image collar that is suppose to keep you cool. It worked fine last week when it was in the high 80s. This week he said it did not do crap at the 100 degree mark. He has a bunch of people at work wanting to get them also. So I will see how big the collared crowd gets lol. Yes he has got about a hundred collar jokes dropped on him. No BDSM collar jokes though. The most common jokes are does that thing have a radio also. What time do you have to be back at the prison with that collar bracelet.

I've got to laugh because it is in the high eighties here and we consider we have an unbearable heatwave. Though very few people have air conditioning here so you can't escape it indoors and most cars still don't have aircon which is seen a luxury extra still here. Actually with so few days a year here being at such temps, air con is an unnecessary expense for the most part.

leakylee -> RE: Is The Heat Wave Getting To You? (7/19/2006 12:41:06 AM)

It was in the high 90's here today. It cooled off to the mid 80's after the rain this afternoon. It is about normal down here in FL. I just moved back down here from Western PA. I am thankful as all get out that I did. With the heat wave going through this summer and no ac up there.. oh I dont wanna think about it. Thank goodness for central air, ceiling fans and pools. I have learned to be grateful.

love and light

I hate the heat.  I mean really hate it!!  80s with no air conditioning would make me really crabby (er....crabbier, lol)

Here its been 106-108 and supposed to stay there till the weekend when we will drop to a chilly 95.

cuddleheart50 -> RE: Is The Heat Wave Getting To You? (7/19/2006 3:18:31 AM)

Its been in the high 90's here all week, and supposed to be that way the rest of the week.  I'm just glad that I work inside, I feel sorry for people who have to work outside in this heat, I couldnt stand it if I had to do that.

Quivver -> RE: Is The Heat Wave Getting To You? (7/19/2006 3:39:06 AM)

115 yesterday at work.  I'm just back to work after the accident in May so the process of getting used to the heat is a bit of a shock.  [:-]
If nothing else I'm well hydrated and it's like a free Sauna.

I hate the heat and so summer is my least favorite time of year. I have central ac in my house plus a window unit in my bedroom thats kept at 62 degrees because I like it very cool. I hate going outside because as soon as I do it feels as if the humidity is draining all my energy away. The summers around the Washington DC area are famous for the high humidity index. [:'(]

I wonder what summer is like in Alaska, anyone?

It's been anywhere from 95 to 101 during the day here.  I've been keeping my swollen self out of the heat as much as possible.  Unfortunately, today I get to brave it.  It turns out the house we were going to be moving into this weekend has a serious plumbing problem, so I'm starting the search over from scratch today.  Fun.

I hope it cools off a bit tonight so I can play some tennis.

Moloch -> RE: Is The Heat Wave Getting To You? (7/19/2006 5:48:13 AM)

Hmm, well here in WNY its around 80-93 or so, I just turn off heating in the pool and turn up heating in the hot tub, its really fun to jump into cold water after getting out of hot tub.

KatyLied -> RE: Is The Heat Wave Getting To You? (7/19/2006 6:02:02 AM)

We are baking in the mid-90's here.  In my next life I am going to have a swimming pool!

LL1aintbehavin -> RE: Is The Heat Wave Getting To You? (7/19/2006 6:04:56 AM)

i'm melting in this heat, was 108 yesterday and will be again today.
i'm a Canuck that is used to cooler, and now am in Oklahoma with my husDom,  Man what a difficult time in getting used to such a different climate.
Never thought i would want rain or miss snow, but right now would love either.
Just trying to keep hydrated and in the central air.
