Have to admit... If I had a republican vote...I would vote Trump. But its not cos I like him. Cruz is far more dangerous to the people of the USA than Bush was.

If my choices were Cruz and Trump, I have to admit that as much as I LOATHE the arrogant bastard, I would vote Trump simply for this reason. I really do believe Cruz is crazy dangerous, where Trump is just stupid dangerous. Crazy scares me more than stupid.

You know, you could exercise your right to vote by not voting, or writing in a candidate. But, if you choose to not vote, you lose a bit of credibility if you oppose the newly elected President. Just sayin'.

He has made his feelings about conservatives...Republicans...right-leaning moderates...right-wingers...clear in the past. Since I'd be willing to bet this is an exercise in him getting people to sound off about their choices of candidate from the right and then...rather than engage in respectful discourse about those choices...denigrate them, I'm suggesting he be honest about his feelings about the candidates up front.

when I say the title of the thread and then the author of it, I wondered myself why I would bother responding forthrightly.

That's a good answer. It sounds like you are an independent.

Fast Reply:

NYT endorsed John Kasich.

I like Trump as a wild card -- he plays to his audiences -- and therein probably hiding what he'd really do. My favorite line from him is, "I like to make deals." Trump can pull working class votes away from the DEMS with his anti-immigration rhetoric and protectionist ideas.

Kasich is the most grounded candidate -- not a huge distinction in this field. Jeb Bush is somewhat centrist and pragmatic. No one appears to be voting for either.

Votes here seem to reflect a two horse race.

Will the turnout be this low in IOWA?

When you ask Republicans who they support they clam up. Why is that?

They haven't picked one yet?

They don't think it's any of your business?

They suspect you have an ulterior motive?

They have you on ignore?

They haven't been online in the past few hours to see it?

They think you are an idiot and not worth a response?

some possibilities just off the top of my head.

But for myself, I have no problem telling you...I am voting for James Earl Jones because his voice makes me weak and he is really smart.

Have a great day [8D]

And, I'll state it again, regardless of which candidate it turns out to be, I'm only going to vote "For" the candidate that best aligns with my beliefs. I'm done voting "Against" someone. Thus, I will wait for the full slate of candidates to be set before I spend the time necessary to get to know their beliefs. The field should be set by June, so that gives me 4-5 months to investigate. Should be plenty of time.

Do you think any of them align with you now? I know you are a conservative (and this isnt any kind of insult)
Is there anyone you would like to see jump in? do you feel you have a candidate that speaks to your beliefs?
Im asking you because altho I disagree with you on a great deal, you have credibility with me.
Im not asking you to name names either or going to take the piss, im genuinely interested

All of them align with me in some way shape or fashion, even Bernie. Rand Paul probably aligns the best out of the current GOP candidates, though.

I haven't paid that much attention to them. I've only watched snippets of the first debate to see how Rand, Fiorina, and Kasich did.

I haven't spent much time looking for third party candidates yet, either. It's just too early. I'll do my due diligence after the slate has been set. I'm not registered R or D, so I won't participate in their primaries (I won't register for one just to vote in the primaries, either; it's disingenuous as I'm not a R or D), which is another reason I haven't paid much attention to the horse and pony show.

I can't see it happening, but if Shrillary aligns best with my beliefs, I'd even vote for her.

And, if asked, I promise to honestly divulge my vote and my reasoning behind it after the election.

Oh, and thank you for the compliments.

Thanks DS:)
dont get bigheaded now...it may be at least another six months before another one:) hheheh

I have done the not voting, and I have done the voting against rather than for. Like you, I am tired of it.

I am not registered Repub or Dem, so I won't be voting in any primaries. I am still on the fence about who to vote for, but I already know who I don't want to see on the ballot.

I'm independent of one of the two party affiliations, anyway. Look at the "political tests" thread and I scored as a Libertarian. I took one years ago (on Facebook, before I even joined here, as a matter of fact), and I was just as conservative, but about halfway between Republican and Libertarian. These past years have moved me further towards Libertarian.

I used to argue with a Lib on FB (until he told me to fuck off in an email and I posted it in the thread that spawned his comment; and he blocked me for it; [:(]) who told me that the more I learned and the older I got, the more Liberal I would get. If I saw him today, I'd tell him he was right, but, only in the sense that I am much, much more of a Classic Liberal than I was before.

I'm too smart to get bigheaded. I know as soon as I do, you'll be coming along to deflate it. lol

greta wants trump to win soooooo bad

Greta75 -> RE: Republicans !!! - Who are you voting for? (2/2/2016 8:59:09 AM)

I am surprise Cruz won. Because I thought he didn't do well in the last debate.

Guess Trump skipping the debate really hurt him.

I think I have only got into American Elections since Al Gore Versus Bush, and that time, I wanted Gore to win sooo bad. He lost! And then, I was rooting for Hillary on the year Obama won, but Obama won the democratic vote. So then I was for McCain.

I really didn't like Mitt Romney or Obama at all, so that election was shitty, didn't like anyone in it.

But this year, on republican side, I really don't like Rubio and Cruz. They are also front runners. If either of them win Republican nomination. I may be back on Hillary's camp. Unless it's Sanders.
