Hello everyone!

I'm having a creative meltdown trying to come up with something to write on a card going with some flowers to my domme. Could some of you lovely ladies help jump start my brain with examples of what messages your subs have sent you? Or if you have any good ideas.

Edit: I thought it prudent to explain this isn't an attempt to cop out. This is the first time she will be coming to my place. I've completely rearranged the furniture, spent most of the day cleaning, looked up recipes for something she will enjoy, picked up some new sheets and towels if she decides to stay over as she has hinted at, even replaced my curtains, and picked up the flowers. So, yeah, I'm putting in quite a bit of work. The creative juices just aren't flowing at the moment. :(

Chill bro. Chill

Why would you give her flowers if she is coming to you?

Because it's a nice gesture, if nothing else.

@OP: I wouldn't try to overstep any boundary she might have and I would simply put "Thank you" on the card.
She might ask what for, then you pick whatever is suitable given the prevailing atmosphere.
It might even be something as simple as "thank you for coming".

I was beat to it, but yes, it's a gesture and they look nice on the table for dinner. Besides, who needs a reason to give a woman they care about flowers?

That could work. And you are right about not overstepping. It is one of the main problems I'm having in coming up with something. I've also considered stealing a suitable line from Princess Bride. " As you wish. "

Thank you, Freedomdwarf1.

The best advice anyone could give you is to be yourself.

It is better to be judged (and possibly rejected) for yourself than to be accepted for what you portray and forever live a lie.

Always be true to yourself - no matter what.

Actually, I think "thank you for coming" would be a lovely sentiment and it keeps you in nice, safe territory for not making it look like you're assuming anything other than dinner. It leaves the situation up to her if there is going to be a D/s or play feel to the night, which allows her to set the tone for the evening.

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck. I hope it will go well for the both of you.

I cant add much beyond Freedom and LP.
Simple is always best in the early ages, but the "thank you" , or "thank you for coming" would put a smile on my face.
She miight not notice different curtains, or all the work you have put in, at first, because she doesnt know your normal living habits, BUT making an effort to clear dropped socks and other detritus is a damn good thing to do:):)
Dont over think it, be you:) I hope it goes really well.
Take a deep breath, think "Calm and serene" and enjoy it.
A home cooked meal in a tidy place with flowers ....awesome.

Ah, thank you. I hadn't considered I'd end up going with something that could presume D/s play. That could have been an embarrassing misstep and I definitely want to make sure she knows she has complete control of the situation!

Hah hah. All the socks are put away and everything has recently been laundered. Also picked up a scented candle for the table. We have talked about trying something with fire and wax so I thought it would be romantic and a small nod to that. It's also a chance to discuss what scents she likes for future reference. And I have massage oils if she wants one... I might have an issue with over planning.

Thank you for all the advice. I will keep it simple and try to be calm. Knowing others appreciate a simple message helps a lot!

Of course! Not much worse than a nasty toilet. I'm giving everything a good scrub down and vaccuum as soon as I get home so it is ready for her use. :)

Will do. It might take a bit to get back around to typing it up after the fact, but I will be sure to post how it goes.

it was just a random thought, I know most people can appreciate the clean loo.
My random thoughts escape willy nilly and were not meant to imply you didnt think about it:)

Oh, no, it's a solid point and you'd stress it a lot if you ever saw my brother's place. D: Please share if you do have any more of those willy nilly thoughts. You may very well point out something I didn't think about.

If someone gave me flowers with a card that said "Thank you for coming" I'd get all sorts of weird second thoughts.
(Does this person have a social life? Why are they thanking me for coming? Is this person desperate? )

Flowers are if ever given by the host as a farewell gift, never as a welcome gift. It is absolutely nonsensical and breaks with all established etiquette.
The most obvious point is the lack of anywhere to store them while visiting. Being given a vase as well is way too much and receiving them only to put them in a vase inside of the home just screams cumbersome.

Unless there is a special brand out there, scented candles are not suitable for doing wax play, and colored candles may not be either.
Some may burn much hotter with additives than what is safe for skin contact.

You cannot go wrong with plain, natural white paraffin.

Keep the scented candle talk vanilla, let her take the lead with that before chiming in.
The same with BDSM-friendly household items you might have (wooden spoons, spatula, wooden hairbrush, clothespins, brand new feather duster, etc.)

This must be a fairly new relationship. Treat it like any other newly developing romantic relationship, other than the protocols she establishes that you agree to follow.

Best of Luck,

Lisa & Cub

ETA: Just saw Code's post. Use the flowers as a decorative centerpiece on the table. No note needed, and problem solved.

I've given flowers to girls when they came to my place in the past and it went very well. It isn't nearly as crazy of a notion as you seem to think. Established etiquette doesn't mean much to a romantic. I do get where you are coming from though and appreciate the input. There is real food for thought there. Thank you.
