Are you kidding? It seem to be big news these days that Bill Clinton is being compared to Bill Cosby these days, except they are questioning why is it an outrage when Bill Cosby was accosting young women, but when Bill Clinton did it. Hillary condemned the women who came out and accused Bill of unacceptable behaviour.

The young people are reading these things! Whenever a woman stands by her alleged sex predator husband, it's not gonna look good on her as a strong empowered modern women who will protect women's rights.




Greta, what you are describing here has not been an angle that the media has focused on much, at least not in the US papers. If millenials are not coming out for Hillary, it isn't because of this. It may get more coverage if she gets the nomination, but for the time being it isn't anywhere near the forefront.

She's just trying to walk her comments back.

Note that she's not denying the validity of the comment, but that it was "bad at the time," and that she shouldn't have said it when there is "a woman running for President." Her apology isn't for what she said, but for when she said it.

Since this thread is what these two iconic women are actually THINKING, we must look at what Madeleine said in that apology:

She said:
  • I absolutely believe what I said, that women should help one another, but this was the wrong context and the wrong time to use that line.
  • I did not mean to argue that women should support a particular candidate based solely on gender.
  • But I understand that I came across as condemning those who disagree with my political preferences.

    Hmmm... reading the rest of that op-ed, I come to the pensive conclusion that she meant exactly what she said.
    She simply apologized that it caused an uproar.

    I believe women should generally support women in their endeavors to be equal to men in as many aspects as they possibly could. I mean, if we got 2 candidates, one man and one woman. And if they are both equally capable as each other. Like completely on par. I am definitely picking the female. I believe men will generally pick the male too.

    But obviously, if a female is obviously a FAIL person, it would more embarrassing to have her as a representative of what a female can do, than to vote for her. That would be detrimental to all women in general.

    I mean, until this entire world really treat women as equal human beings, I will keep supporting worthy women. Right now, women in Saudi still can't drive, can't leave the country without their husband's permission. Women are still treated like second class citizen in parts of this world. They need help. I believe every time they see a woman from any country rise up, and capable of leadership positions, these women from these female oppressive countries will feel more and more empowered to gang up together and fight against whats' going on in their country and get equality for themselves.

    I respect all the women of the old who sacrificed to give this equality I enjoy today.

    Again, I find it appalling that just in 1976 in the US, women cannot get her own credit card without her husband's permission, according to Hillary herself, who got her credit card rejected and being told, she needs her husband's approval to apply for one.

    That is seriously outrageous, especially when she was an independent lawyer who made her own money, and good money.

    In many jurisdictions; a married couple is considered a single entity under contract law. To incur a debt, such as a credit card, both parties must sign as both parties are liable for the debt. In such jurisdictions the wife must sign as well as the husband for any contract debt. This isn't just credit cards but a purchase contract for a vehicle, a mortgage, or any other contract dealing with joint property and joint debt.

    Other jurisdictions may consider personal debt different from joint debt and a wife could get a credit card in her own name without spousal permission.

    Different jurisdictions, different rules.
