Desmond morris wrote about this phenomenon. I don't find it surprising.

The scaninavians had low population densities with a long cold winter. They lived indoor for days at a time, sealed in with cattle etc. Cleanliness, the ability to be disciplined, the necessity of helping your neighbor against disaster were imbued into them.

Conversely, in the warmer south - there is less cooperation against a hostile environement, and more competition for food, mates etc.

In similar fashion, I would presume that singapore with very high population densities had to learn strict social guidelines - so they could tolerate each other. No bubble gum under the seats. etc.

Singaporeans are known to be naive, and child-like, and black and white and we really believe in the justice and fairness of our law and I do live in a country where I seldom feel there is injustice happening, most of the time, I feel like wrongly accused gets acquitted, bad guys get convicted, and doing business, there is no under table monkey business. And if you try to bribe a cop, you will be cuff and drag to jail. I mean, I find it also strange government interfere with private business honest dealings. Like I don't know why Executive Chefs get jailed for accepting vacations and monetary bribes in return for using certain exclusive food suppliers.

I mean compared to Malaysia, where bribing the cop is the normal way of life, and we do it over there all the time, we notice cops would hint to us that we can be release for a bribe or he'll waive a fine for a bribe. In Indonesia also, one time, my passport expire when I went to Indonesia, it didn't have the 6 months validity period, and the customs officer told me if I paid him like the equivalent of 50bux, he will let me through and ignore my passport is not valid. I of course rather just fly back to my own country than do that. I am sure when I try to go home later, I will be fucked big time for entering illegally or something.

Like we go do business in China and we are shock at the necessity for bribery, and open asking for gifts and bribes in doing business. It's normal etiquette there.

We always say, Singaporeans always get swindled overseas, and are easy target, because we grew up in our little cushy world, where everything seems just and we can trust our law makers and our law enforcers. In my life time, I lost my wallet 7 times. A few places are, it dropped out of my car on the streets in China Town, I left it in a public bus, I left it in a taxi, I left it in a public basketball court, 100% of those times, my wallet was returned with me with 100% of my money inside intact. Nothing missing. Some was just posted back to me, because my address is in my identity card in my wallet. Some was given to the police who contacted me to retrieve my wallet. Some personally delivered my wallet to my door step to me. I've never experienced being robbed or anything in my life.

Talking about gum, in my recent trip to Switzerland, I was commenting, how clean and beautiful everywhere is to my friend. And he said, Singapore is cleaner! And I said no way! This place looks cleaner!

And he was like, "Look at the floors. It's filled with gum stains, you never see that in Singapore!" And I never saw a gum stain in my life before because Singapore ban gums. So I was like "That's a gum stain????? I thought it was just bird poop stains! Wow!"

Lol, like a child who saw gum stain for the first time in her life!

New Zealand's supposed to be the least religious country in the world, however.

I also couldn't help noticing that the first six have strongly social-democratic political traditions.

Corruption in the nordic countries is far more subtle and far more spread out than what is visible.
Corruption is in many ways institutionalized the way lobbying is institutionalized in the US.

So much is run by democratic or undemocratic councils, some people do not have jobs but sit in councils and boardrooms, these people then benefit their own associates and familly members by giving them positions, grants, apartments or what ever else it may be.
Unless you're in the game that are public and private organizations, you're missing out as much as being outside of the stock market in a more free-market society.

They just don't call it "corruption".
In a way I think that if you're actually interested in doing good and working for various organizations and being part of something then that builds community. But many of these organizations are just self-serving excuses to go on expensive dinners and trips to "conferences" all over the world, at the very least.

Perhaps corruption is not the right word, perhaps nepotism is.

And Switzerland and Singapore runs on Capitalism.
Infact, probably the only 2 truly capitalist country of the world. Both got in!

Luxemburg is predominantly catholic, Germany and Switzerland have more or less catholic-protestant parity

The UK is not a country
The Norse, should that include the Icelandic I wonder, are the most arrogant people I have ever dumped glorious loads of my man juices into shortly after I scattered then to the four winds
as useless entities,
Switzerland, even I would nuke that fucking land.
Singapore land - that actually exists in reality and in declared format, unlike greta75 who declares itself a women
