I think someone existed that did some fairly significant things in his life, or maybe it was a combination of different people that is assumed to be one person, hard to know for sure though.

I think there was likely a wandering preacher around whom a mythology (mostly comprising common mythological themes of the time and region) coalesced.
Do I believe the mythology? No, I think it is clearly and demonstrably false.

I believe a Jewish man of his name most likely existed.
I believe he was simply a man who was considered a prophet and a wise man who had many followers.
I believe over time his words became aggrandized as such happens with all great men over time.
I do not believe he was the messiah or God.

When I google the question I get more references that say he existed than not. Just once such reference:

But jesus, or whatever his real name was, was never a Christian. He was an orthodox jew and was brought up in a kosher home. I believe Paul was the money-hungry spruiker who saw how to make a buck out of this religion and went for it. It succeeded beyond his wildest dreams but didn't really do him a lot of good, did it. Sounds like that bloke Jimmy Jones.

Actually is was John who charged money for absolution and the Romans made no historical record of a man called Jesus Christ. Not only is the story of a young prodigious preacher, of 12 disciples, who performed magic tricks, healed the sick, eventually betrayed for gain, executed somehow and resurrected, an old story repeated many times and some before the time of this man called Jesus but the only reference outside the bible was a mention of 'a' christ (general term) and only once in Roman literature.

I've seen some scholars say there was a 50/50 chance a man named Jesus never existed and another that claimed the whole new testament was written by the Romans some 40 years after the alleged crucifixion or 73 AD. (that's how they got all of the predictions right) This was done to shift Roman control of the population to faith, rather than by force.

You will have to say the words and teachings of Jesus most definitely exist... So in actuality and in reality and in practicality he did and does exist beyond doubt.

no, the words and teaching that somebody ELSE says he said exist....................kinda like Chinese Whispers. so the people that wrote about this supposed person, certainly exist. He did but not as the bible describes him. He was a poor orthodox jew who preached some and was a bit of a thinker.

There was a two hour show on either History or National Geographic channel about two years ago where an archaeologist traced the biblical and other records of that time and pretty much proved that Jesus' family existed (he found their family crypt). He wouldn't have been able to do that without the biblical references/history.

There's little doubt in my mind that a person by that name existed. If the words in red in the Holy Bible are truly His, He might be the most spiritually advanced person this globe has ever known.

sure, jesus , or whatever he was called, existed and for that to happen he had to have had a family. I learned that in biology. He wrote nothing himself and what is in the bible is only what somebody else says that he said. And with a little bit of twisting and dishonest bookkeeping it could probably be proved that he was of the house of David. A lot of that went on in the 19th century in England, with newly made peers finding spurious proof that they were related to William the Conqueror or Alfred the Great or even Arthur. It's bollocks.
