Yeah, the whole "vs" on the other thread kinda made it a hot topic so I'm riding it's thunder, but you really have winsomedifiance to blame for this thread.

I've heard Blue work, Pink work, D work, /s work more frequently than I've heard someone say "good morning".

When I read about male D's looking for a "domestic /s" for pink work this always comes to mind:

Yeah, should've really looked into wot you were signing up for.

Then there's the blue work, like checking the oil:

The reason those images always come to mind is because I really do know people that are like that. Yep, dudes living in filth waiting for some girl to come along to do the pink work and smoking hot "pedestrian" chicks that don't know why the car won't work... you crack the hood and see the rod hanging out the side of the block, close the hood, walk away.

I do not have pink work, blue work, D work or /s work. We know who goes in the rope and who is tying it, it's not a job, it's an adventure.

Like I said in the other thread, you kinda have to spend the night before I'll, comfortably, allow you to stick your hands in my sink to wash dishes. I do have the 100% philosophy which means you do what needs to be done and there are no colors.

So I guess my real question here is, since I've never really queried the members on this, do you have pink work, blue work, D work and /s work and if so, how does that shit get done in your life when you do not have the other (blue/pink D or /s)?

Yup, our responsibilities around the house have been divided pretty much in traditional gender lines. It's simply where our own particular strengths and affinities lie. Have to say though, I've never used the terms blue and pink jobs.

In terms of getting shit done when we were single- we survived without each other for many years. He never went hungry because I wasn't around to cook. The way he views it now is that he could do it, but thank God he doesn't have to.

I think most men here wouldn't even know how to fix a car or change a light bulb. I don't know about the blue work.

I think most men share the pink work.

I do what needs to be done. No gender, no color. If I'm too short to reach, I call for one of the tall people (anyone in the house other than my daughter is taller than myself) or get the ladder. If it's too heavy, I call for one of the strong ones or hire someone.

Sometimes things call for a young person's knees (I often call on the littlest one to crawl under the table to plug/unplug the iPad cord.) Age tempers my movement, height dissuades me on occasion.. a lack of strength can do me in and I've had to fight to open a jar of pickles on occasion but I manage to manage.

Where did you get that first picture? I about recoiled out of my chair.

D/s out. MP and I are pretty much a pink jobs and blue jobs couple. It really works better for us. The kitchen is absolutely not MP's area. He's better at fixing things than I am. (It does drive him crazy when I do things like shovel snow because he does think that's the man's job.) One caveat. We've been married almost fourteen years and we've had several time periods where we're not under the same roof due to career. Any time he's gone, I'm doing the all of the jobs or the responsible person for getting them done. Army wives will tell you. Gremlins don't just live in tanks and planes. They show up at your house shortly after someone heads out of the country.

D/s in. There are certain jobs that MP loses during times I have a male submissive and certain males who bottom, but we have no dynamic. Those will generally be a mix of blue jobs and pink jobs, depending on what's happening at the time. Some of that are things like hauling toys to go to the club, helping to clean up after dinner, etc. Depending on the person, they might help with breakfast or dinner prep. It really depends on what the person is good at.

We have a strict division of labor and on most stuff it falls into the traditional blue work/pink work.
Except that the reason it does is an accident, because in reality it's based on our own individual strengths.

So he does the bills, and the 'making the money', and the budget, and the 'lifting heavy stuff'.
And I do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, and the 'making sure the kids got what they need' stuff.

But we do that because it's what we're both better at, because also:

He does the 'keeping track of social obligations' (making sure, b-day cards/presents are sent/bought, making sure I call my parents from time to time (and he his), keeping track of the kids' piano recitals etc), as well as the weekly grocery shopping.
While I do the vehicle/house/yard maintenance, including changing the oil, mowing the lawn, or re-tilling the master bathroom myself.

The stuff on 'who does what' is strictly divided. I don't do or mess with his stuff, he doesn't do or mess with mine.
Anybody seeing us on an average day would say we're a traditional 1950s couple. Until they see me breaking out my chain saw (which he wouldn't know how to start), and him picking out what set of cloth napkins to get for my sister's wedding gift (while I still have no clue which one we actually got her).

We do what we're best at.

Great topic.
Hubby cooks, cause..well you've seen the fb pics. Nunu (slave) is responsible for the kitchen. But as women, brat and I will take it on if need be. As far as cleaning, we do that, but when he has an itch to ..."deep clean" he fucks shit up. So we usually beat him to it.
Now as far as "guy" things, he demands it's his job. That would be things like taking out trash, eww, pumping gas (I don't pump gas. Go ahead, laugh, but I refuse), the lawn (although I have done the riding mower part BC tanning and sunning is nice). Ya know, guy stuff.

But that being said, I can get all tom boyish and help. Like if we go to the dump, I'll throw on gloves and throw stuff out, which results in him telling me "you should just go sit down" lol

~FRing it~

As a single submissive female currently, there is no blue or pink work. It's a lavender (mix of pink and blue) world for me. Because if I don't do it, it doesn't get done

It's not just men.
I had a female friend have two tragic deaths in her family and her house looked like that after 3 years of depression. Before that this chick kept a nice house. I went and helped her 3 weekends in a row to get 3 rooms livable again. That's what friends are for but two rooms went untouched, it was to much!
No way I'd be able to deal with a hoarder on a regular basis. Would have to pass up a guy who kept a house like that even if he was a jewel in every other way.
GROSS.

Yes, we divide along traditional gender lines.

But you don't want me trying to fix the car or change the oil, because I'm not knowledgeable about it in the least.

I'm fairly good on the theoretical but no experience on actually doing it.

And I have very little hand strength so I can't get a rusty oil pan cap off. Not even with a socket wrench.

I'm better at reading the manual and telling him what it says while he's under the car. Or sorting through the drawer of assorted sockets and finding him the long 11 mm one.

You don't need brute strength to cut up a chicken or sew a button on. Picking the riding mower up to change the blade does require strength.

When I was married there was no blue/pink thingy. We both worked outside the house. We both took care of things as needed. We left for work at the same time and got home around the same time. Rule was, first one home cooks. As far as taking care of the house there was no mention of choirs, we just naturally did things as they needed to be done.

The funny part for me is that cleaning the house, doing the dishes etc was something I grew up doing. I am sort of hyper anyway so I do not do well at sitting still. My Mother & Fathers kept a clean house (because we the kids cleaned it). That has stuck with me coupled with hyper function, if something needs done I just do it. My wife was very similar in that nature also.

Our D/s had nothing to do with blue/pink choirs. It was a separate dynamic. It was an escape or adventure for the weekend. We did not live the dynamic 24/7. But more as time allowed.

I can't do any blue stuffs, and I know local men can't do any blue stuffs either. We just hire people to do blue stuffs, the professionals do it.
Pink stuffs, I think any man or woman living alone has no choice but to do it anyway.

If you're gonna punish me for not cleaning, I'll never clean another thing ever again.
Seems kinda silly though, to reward for bad behavior...

In our world, work around the house is divided but what makes loud noises. I do quiet things. Autos, blenders, power-drills, circular-saws, and even vacuum-cleaners are Chaos's domain.

Once upon a deployment, I had my best friends move in with me because I was having some health problems, and Big Brother's house-work was to take out the trash and reach things on the top shelf.
