I came to the conclusion just a bit ago I was going to go ahead and start this thread. I want to open a topic about something that I found really neat.

No, it's not "new". I've talked to a few people about it prior.

To put it bluntly, I got the coolest request that I think I've ever had in kink. I was asked to help one of my play partners celebrate his five year sobriety anniversary in wax. What he would like to have is the AA symbol, a triangle inside of a circle, with the Roman numeral five (V) inside. He would also like the date carved in regular numbers. Anything after that, is up me.

Have I mentioned this is the coolest request ever???? This isn't like Christmas or somebody's birthday. This is something that a person wants because they have earned it. They struggled for it. I could do this design in my sleep.

The guy who asked me? We've played several times. Nicest guy in the world. He's offered to pay for the wax, my time, my entry fee... I told him none of that was necessary. I was pretty amazed, just to be asked.

So, what discussion can come from this?

Somebody should be asked to bake or buy a cake also. Good for celebrations and aftercare.

I will say that I found this an odd request. Especially if on his back where he can't see it. Unless you've got other people in recovery in the group. I doubt he's inviting his sponsor to watch.

I pride myself on promptness

it's the slaves duty oh wait submissive's duty to call the restaurant

and now I pride myself on bedness

Clubs here pretty much have staff photographers. Different than what I've done for some of the prepped piece wax shots.

A cake would also be an awesome idea. Something sweet for afterwards? We just did a cake a little while ago for a birthday, so I'm sure that would be ok.

The funny thing? I didn't find it odd at all. I know that you know folks in recovery. Kinky people in recovery. How hard it used to be?

Can you imagine? The struggle every day?

That's why I want to do it.

I don't know how other people would feel about that but unless it was out of the play area, I'm not sure how cool I'd really be with that. Public play space, don't intrude when other people are playing, too. You know the drill.

I might have given a wrong impression. It's not an AA meeting. It's a wax scene that the person hitting their five year sobriety date had asked if I would do.

(This part not directed at you, but it came up during convos with other people about this.)

I think some of us have gotten so used to more access, some better acceptance, etc, that we forget it wasn't always like this. Submissive males who are my age and have felt so 'different' all of their lives didn't always cope well. (Same thing as what many folks in the LGBT community say.) Our community of endorphin junkies has our share of other addictions as well, because we're not immune. To me, anybody putting that much sobriety time? That's an accomplishment.
